ok here is a link to one of the designs. Its not the black one (still very cool though), but if you just look though the pallet showreel you will find the black one (theres about 150 of them so im not going to look).

Honestly though, some of the designs are so amazing, you may find something you prefer then complete black.
They are expensive skins, but the are VERY high quality.

its not completely black, but its a carbon fibre design. close enough. I think getting a skin i better than waiting for black for 3 reasons.
1: it protect the laptop, and has a non residue adhesive so it can be replaced eisily.
2: since it doesnt cover the light pipe area, it leats the light out from there, yet still lets you have the custom design (black will most likely not let as much light out.
3: THEY ARE COOL!!!

And now whats tempting me more.. is that.. with that skin i doubt it will be a fingerprint magnet too!

But still i want black skullcap, if by june there no word at all about the black skullcap m15x, then i might just get the silver one and get the black skin for it

Where did you get that info ? cause in the NYC event when they launch and first introduce the m15x and m17x. They had silver Ripley and glossy black skullcap m15x.

yeah I realize that, I mean....I had been waiting for black forever and just gave up on april 29th and ordered my m15x in silver. I looked at those same pictures forever but I'm pretty sure they are NOT going to make gloss black, they already have matte black and gloss silver. New Notebook Overview: m15x and m17x April 29, 2008, I just think they wont release it in gloss black because they already released the m17x in matte black... I think they scraped the idea of gloss black totally.

 

Ehh you did fine getting silver, if it was gloss black, fingerprints galore. Matte is cool though.

 

Yeah its in phase 4 right now but idk if i should wait for skullcap silver? I like it a lot better than ripley but thats just me

 

skullcap does look awesome, but i dont want too much attention towards my notebook especially in school. Keep the ripley, it looks sleeker. The skullcap design kinda makes it look like a kids laptop

its expected that it wil come out during the next alienware broadcast that has been set sometime in JUNE, bt thats only speculation.

Good I think I'm going to cancel my order and wait for skullcap, I mean i've waited this long....why not just a few more weeks?

with the ridges? thicker, i guess.

 

it will definitley make it thicker, but you will be able to have a firmer grip on the laptop. i think the thickness wont be too thick compared to the ripley design.

 

We are victims of a marketing strategy and took so long,propably AW's way to hit clevo's monteniva 15'4 new laptop..

Im happy about matte black. I think it looks damn sexy. If matte black ripley comes out im gonna jump all over that.

Its 100% unless they lie or announce later that they are having problems and have to cancel, anything is possible, but other than that it should be 100% lol.

Frank Azor from AW said it himself, that the m15x will be in other color and skullcap.

Yeah they are launching the new colors and cases in the next Alien Network show in june

 

probably with montevina...?hope so. because with all the problems m15x had and a cconcurrent like clevo with montevina (with better & better price), I don't think they will sell much units with santarosa again

 

at the moment it doesn't look like there will be a m15x with Centrino 2 (montevina).

Nah, I wouldn't be mad, it's not a huge upgrade. Besides, if you keep waiting for new tech then you'll never buy a computer

That said, they should still offer it at some point (but yeah, it's unlikely)

 

I can't believe the day of the black m15x is almost hear. Its kinda like hearing confirmation about the apocalypse. o.0 haha

 

I want it. Hopefully, they'll drop the price, now that Dell is running things a bit more hands on. Saving a few bundles or so would help me make a black skullcap with 4GB ram, 8700 or 8800, and a 2.5ghz.

Or, introduce new 9*** geforces and drop price.

I'm hoping that along with the new black m15x, they'll introduce something new to the laptop.

Hopefully a ton of fixed problems, new hardware, lowered prices, i dunno... something lol.

 

Black skullcap + fixed all issues (CPU and GPU downcloacking, heat issues, etc.) + lower price, and I'd bite.

they are supposed to tell us mid may when the next airing will be, so could be anytime now

why would they remove such an eye-catching feature - especially after there has been so much furor when the first m15x with deactivated lightpipe came out... No I don't think they will remove the lightpipe and I doubt they will add features. Perhaps there will be minor improvements on the case but I think it will just be the silver case in black.
