Who's still waiting for the Black m15x

the m17x doesn't have 'em.

 

In general, the light pipe is more hassle than it's worth. It's neat but the quality varies between laptops with light-leaking issues and such. I wouldn't be surprised if it's gone for good in the black m15x.

 

I never even use it on my system. I actually only use the lights on the head and the mouse pad with keyboard.

At least that way it doesn't look unprofessional.

 

hold on, you pretty much mentioned every light zone except the light pipe...? did I read that right?

 

GRB. I only use the Lights on the Alien Head (Back of screen) the keyboard with mouse pad(Only when I don't have a mouse plugged in).

I don't use the light pipe around the Screen nor do I use the lights behind the alien ware head.

even if they just made the system more stable ie, a proper working cooling system and better quality chassis, i would bite straight away.

I dont see myself needing the power that a montevia board could bring for quite a few years..... although, i would really love to see the m15x feature the new 9800m GTX. It would help with heat issues a bit, thats for sure. (when maxing out a x9000)

 

What's so great about the Motevina? I mean... is it that much of an upgrade from the core 2 extreme?

 

1066 DDR 3 Memory, 40% less mobo ( less heat and more space) quad cpu for your lappy..

 

Quadcores are still a few months off, and if you think the X9000 extremes are expensive...

I haven't heard any "m16x" rumors. Where did you hear that?

 

theres no such thing as a m16x. even if they did upgrade the m15x with montevina it would still be called m15x. 15 refers to screen size

 

AW does not always name their laptops according to screen size. While that is a logical assumption... it isn't necessarily true. The m9750 didn't have a 9,750 inch display.... so you never know.

 

The could call the centrino 2 versions "m15x2" and "m17x2". Just a thought.

 

True but remember the point of the old numbering system wasn't to reflect the screen size. Now, it is, so m16x would be illogical.

Anyway, no-one's ever said anything else about an "m16x" before so this is just a typo most likely

 

I am annoyed that Prodigee should get chastised and his thread closed merely for attempting to start a thread on the black m15x when this thread here no longer has anything to do with its supposed subject.

I want a black Skullcap m15x, is what I want. They are nuts if they think I am going to buy a hideous silver Ripley. If I wanted a lappy which looks that boring, I would go to Best Buy and get a Compaq. Even my Asus Eee is more exciting.

theyre gonna release it with the new alien network update. I hope the price doesnt go up because of the black case

 

Will they did say before summer and I hope its not late June, I have my 4 Gigs of Crucial Ram just sitting here waiting for my m15x. Btw it's mid May and still no word on when the next Alien network will be up...

they will release the new cases the same time as the centrino2 announcement ... imo....

also chances are that all the new M15x colors will be in Matte not gloss beacuse the m17x is in matte now due to touch pad and complaints.

looks like gloss was just for the photoshoot and early adopters of m15xs

i'm prolly gonna give up on a ripley mx15 and go with a sager instead if it takes this long ...

 

there will probably never be a model with Centrino 2 / Montevina. There are no dates, annoucements etc. just some people who wish that the m15x will get it.

 

i say just buy the current m15x and when it gets out of date/warrenty pait it black by a pro. then you can use it as a non gaming laptop that looks really cool.

 

the cases seem fragile enough even after a year of use i wouldn't want it disassembled for painting.

not to mention the hole point of a boutique service and prices is paint jobs and case really..
els i would get a sager and paint it my self.

 

actually on some site, they offer a custom paintjob if you buy a sager ;P they paint anything you want on it, ANYTHING ;p

 

well with some of the issues, you can just send the current back in a couple of months, 15% fee and get the new one...

 

I had hoped to have the Black Skullcap m15x in hand before I go on vacation the last week of June... looks like that isn't going to happen.

I spend every third night in a hotel because of my job, which is where I game on my four year old Area-51m 5500. The way it chugs along with its 1 gig of RAM and 128 meg Mobility Radeon 9700 videocard is most distressing.

I can't decide whether to keep waiting for the Black Skullcap m15x, buy a new Sager, or just add RAM to my old 5500 and keep on using that oldie. I like MMO's and have mostly been playing EverQuest II, so it's not like I really need the m15x anyway... just sucks how low I have to keep the graphics settings on my current lappy with that Flintstone's video card.

I wish Alienware hadn't paraded such a badass looking computer last November in New York if they aren't going to build it.

if you are still planning to wait then i would try to wait until the next alienware network video comes out. most people hope that is when the new color and cases will come out for the m15x. the new clevo is also just around the corner so if you dont want the m15x you should consider that new clevo with the 8800m gtx in it.

 

I'm starting to get really frustrated with AW I do not understand at all why they cant just release the new cases. A lot of us have been waiting for almost 6 months now... just release the new colors and designs!

 

i think they will bring them out as soon as the Clevo comes out to try to take money away from them.

 

Im now decided on the Silver after carefull considoration looking round at other laptops and being fed up waiting for both the m17x and or black m15x. Very very poor play here from Alienwedonotshareware but really what else is out there that beats it.

i doubt that is the strategy they are planning to use. if they release the colors early people who are waiting for the new colors would purchase the laptop now. that would make their chance of buying the clevo much lower. if they were to release the colors now, aw would see an increase in sales.

 

You see that is what bugs me....I want my damn laptop for the summer and if they say that the new AW network is going to be June 29th. Then I would have to order it and wait for it to get to me which could take forever, then hope it doesn't have anything wrong with it... this is just a mess i start college august 25th i don't have time to keep playing these damn waiting games...I've been playing "The wait game" for 6 months and i'm tired of it

 

I think they will use the new color to counter companies that are ready to start production on the Centrino2 and 9800mGTX on june, im pretty sure the new colors and skullcap will be available on the next AW video thingy, and i cant wait too see what AW will do to top the companies that are ready for Centrino2

 

LOl they will spam the same bullsh1t again and again, about how they are a gaming company and somehow they know that the black skullcap is worth more then centrino2, infact blackskullcap will somehow make you think your badass which will improve your gaming skills, well thats how they think.

If A.W could even be assed enough to deliver on time or to at least answer our questions, im sure they would be a better company because of it.

 

I am hoping HP makes voodoopc what AW is not today, quality but still within a price range...

I always though M15x was ugly, but its looks awesom in glossy black, and that lid is just...

I have an M9750, and I love it, but... I would have traded it in for an M15X if it came in black. The portability of it would have been welcomed. But I never did because it only came in silver (and silver paint always wears down, collects grease and turns ugly after extended use).

 

Screw you fokkers I was literally picking up the phone to order an m15x when I saw this thread. Now if I wait the silver ones will all be gone and the black one will cost $2000 more for same specs + black color. But if I don't wait I'll have severe buyer's remorse. Thanks guys. Real helpful.
