Depends, really. For me, I definitely prefer the MacBook-style keyboard than the MacBook Pro keyboard. It feels nice, and its aesthetically pleasing.
-
That keyboard is awesome, bettered only by the wireless one (despite losing the number pad). I LOVE the wireless Apple keyboard. It's by far the best keyboard I've ever used. Every key feels EXACTLY the same, something I can't say for my TWO DiNovo Edge keyboards by Logitech. My shift key makes a strange noise on one, and a few of the keys on the other are just not quite as consistent in their press as others. The Apple keyboard, however, is completely consistent. Even more consistent than the keyboard on my (temporarily mine) MacBook Air. Every key just feels perfect.

Thanks for the pictures, guys. It's funny how even though some of the rooms are a little...uh... how shall we say.... less than hygienic
D
), somehow with a Mac there it makes it all better.
-
i feel that was for me jahhahahahaha
-
Haha, messy desk there, bczera
.
-
you should
messy messy
poor mabook pro, let me take care of it
-
i love the old (all white plastic) iMac. i used to really hate the new one when it came out. i now love it. i was surprised how quickly it grown on me.
-
It kind of sucks to be honest. I wish I hadn't spent $50 on it.
It is not a keyboard for those that do a lot of typing or programming. Something seriously wrong with a keyboard that has keys that large and spaced so far apart. It's alright for casual stuff. I also like how its light and small. It's just not great for trying to type a lot on or gaming.
I also cant get the num pad to work in windows. Overall, the Macbook Pro keyboard is much better for people who use their keyboard all the time. It's by FAR the best keyboard I have ever used. -
Man, I love my Apple wireless keyboard. I was used to the Thinkpad for so long (there is a perfect KB), then switched to the MBP and had to re-learn the light touch. Now I like that. But the wireless -- fantastic. I don't program but spend hours at a time just writing. With the wireless my speed and accuracy doubled immediately.
-
Agreed. And since the new firmware update, the Caps Lock button now works in Windows too! It's just excellent.
-
Just wondering, but is the num lock on in windows when you try to use it?
Gotta press the numlock key on the mbp itself, and the numpad should work find in windows. -
Here's my setup:
-
Very pretty, though it must make it a tad tricky if you need to do any multi-display work.
-
I don't need to do multi-display work. That's why I settled for a nice 22" screen and called it a day
-
Interesting setup, a4_abt! Never thought of doing that before
.
-
I prefer having my precious MBP above and not risking spilling a drink on it or damaging it in any other way!

Lethal Lottery Notebook Betrayer
i could not resist , here is my "no frills" setup:
-
incredible how good a MBP looks, even next to an AlienWare!!
-
I don't think the AW looks great... too much wasted screen space on the monitor panel....
-
Lethal Lottery Notebook Betrayer
there is alot i hate about think-pads, but i dont go around insulting peoples expensive purchases. -
Woah there, don't take it personally. I was replying to someone else's post. And you shouldn't find my post insulting, it is just a mere opinion. I bet your AW is extremely powerful and suits you fine. Thats all that really should matter.
-
up up up up =b
-
First of all, you guys have some nice setups here. Yea and the reason that the M15x has the huge bezel around the monitor is because of the size of the laptop. In order to fit the 8800GTX in there (which I don't think should have happened) they needed to make the chassis bigger which increased the size of the bezel on the laptop. A 16" screen would have fit very nice in there though.
-
I think the AW is incredible for what it is, since it has an 8800GTX in there! Wooo! And it only weighs, what, 7lbs? Amazing. 15.4" 1920x1200? Take that Apple! Seriously.... *drool*
-
But why did they have to increase the size of the monitor bezel? They couldn't have nicely fit in a larger screen with the bigger chassis?
-
Well, for me I find 1440x900 as the right resolution for 15.4-inch screens, but others prefer higher and to each his own
. I do wish Apple gave us more choice.
-
Exactly. Some people find that res just fine. For me, I came off XPS systems with 1920x1200 displays. 1440x900 is archaic by comparison. Heck, my really old Inspiron 8600 had a 15.4" 1920x1200, and that was 2003! To only have one option in 2008 is madness...
-
up haha i don't want to see this ending
-
Seriously.
How many members do we have owning Apple systems? How many have posted picture? Come on people!
-
I'm surprised to not see any Mac Pro's so far in this thread !
-
I think bmwrob has Mac Pros...
-
My Apple is too ugly to display.

After a bit of re-arranging

Me wants an iMac
. So many have one!
-
I hear there may be a refresh out this week. I'm contemplating getting a 24" and giving the 20" to my daughter. Might do it if the refresh is significant
-
Well, the only thing for me is I want a quad core desktop with really good graphics (8800, 3870). The iMac certainly doesn't have those. If it did, I would jump right at it, but since it doesn't, and I don't think it will in the near future, I'm probably going to get a HP Pavilion Elite desktop or Dell XPS 420.
-
Why not just roll your own Hackintosh?
-
I'm quite the follower of EULAs
.
-
Frankly I can't see myself getting sued by Apple for running Leopard on my desktop.
-
Doesn't mean you should though. You agreed to the license, you agreed you wouldn't violate it. By doing so is ruining an agreement. Sure, you can go ahead and break it, but I personally prefer not to.
-
Guess we just have different ideas of what's fair.
-
And lack of support when you need it is not very pleasant...
-
And breaking an agreement that you have agreed to is not fair, no matter how you look at it.
-
I've found that without AppleCare, lack of support happens even when you do follow the EULAs.
-
More photos people!
(BTW, just gave the MacBook Air to my dad as promised... I miss it already!) -
I'm still a mac newbie so I'll need some time before I really get this looking good. Still, not a bad frst attempt right?
-
Nice! Simple yet complete.
