NO!! I've been stuck on this Dell Pentium 4 desktop for 5 and a half years!!!

This broke me- I just ordered the X1 from Newegg. -

I went ahead and ordered an X1 and a 160GB Intel SSD... Close enough to what I wanted, I'll have it tomorrow, and it's cheap enough that I'll just buy something else if it dies after a year.
-
Everyone else:
Chill. It is available on Newegg (currently) and will be available on other sites like provantage/zipzoomfly etc.
If you can't get it from one of the great resellers here, snag it there.
teabag: Why don't you just order the x1 from newegg!? -
That's my hope...hanging on it! -
sO IF i ORDER TODAY FOR SURE i WILL HAVE ONEBUY THE 15TH OF MARCH UNLESS OF COURSE THERES ANOTHER DELAY CORRECT?
-
-
...it's gotta be a blu-ray problem/shortage.. that's the only difference 'tween A1 - A2 IMHO
-
( )... would that be delayed further or will that come in with the first batch on 3/4.
I'd love to get the Newegg one sooner but I want and need the internal bluray... Maybe it wasn't in the cards for me, after all the waffling and trying to be financially responsible even after wife said get it... -

3/4 = March 4th. I completely understand the frustration, we feel the same thing. We want nothing more then to provide this machine to everyone who ordered.

I was late finding out about this awesome laptop and knew that the best way was to wait and pounce on them when they are released.
My F5 key is hating me today lol.
Ironic to be getting mine months before the people that pre-order. I can see waiting for an A1 because we don't know yet how hard it will be to put a Blu-ray replacement drive into the X-1 (I am going to do it though!) but it makes no sense to wait a month for an A2.
If you are waiting for an A2 just order the X1 and an SSD, 500GB HD, or even a 1TB! You lose 1 year of warranty and some shiny accessories thats all.
You get the meat of it though - super thin LED, 5870 etc etc
I am just wondering how hard of an operation I will have to put a Blu-ray drive into the X-1. To be safe I am going to get an ASUS drive and hope it fits clean. Even if it sticks out a bit, so what? It will be a fun technical chalenge to try to get it perfect. Actually if I am reading this technical PDF correctly a standard ASUS drive will fit meaning it may be plug and play! -
If I ended up getting this, I'd probably get a 160GB Intel drive with it either way though...

Because I do want the BluRay and I value ASUS warranty. I could probably upgrade both later but I've done business with GenTech before and intend to stick with them. Plus, I wire transfered the cash for this thing a month ago and it'd be just too much of a hassle, not to mention wasteful, to deal with more international money transfers.
However, I am going to take your advice and chill. Sorry about the incessant ranting.
Btw, Evensen, you're going with the A2, are you? -
I'm guessing the X1 doesn't come with the backpack or mouse? I definitely plan on using both of those.
-
Since their shipment is delayed, don't you guys think newegg will be sold-out shortly?
You gotta make right choices. If they get sold-out you have to wait also. And seat is guaranteed for people who pre-ordered from resellers but you have to wait if you wanna order from newegg.
-
I thought the A1 shipment was delayed originally because it was held up in customs, was I misreading that?
-
i would order from newegg and cancel my order at xotic but i'd feel like a D Bag, for all the help justin gave me, so hey, im in iraq, i have nothing but time, to wait for this one, im pretty my inspiron 1501 will hold out till then

Like I said I didn't preorder since I wanted to see reviews of the asus and the comparable msi from people who bought them before I decided. Regardless I wouldn't chose to drop a year of warranty.. I think that is bad advice personally. Laptops components are fragile and flaky, and run pretty hot even with a good cooling design. One of the main reasons I'd go with asus in the first place is 2 yr warranty to start, and that I can push it to 3yr for merely $99. The preconfig on xoticpc of the msi unit also has 3yrs btw.
-
Hmm guys, I just called GenTechPC, and they said the delay hasn't been confirmed :S. So the delay is only for Xoticpc ?:S

Newegg.com have 80 Asus G73JH-X1 models in stock right now.
-
You also get the X-1 today if you hurry.
And when NewEgg is sold out that will be it, who knows how many remain? I guarantee this time tomorrow there will be none available anyhwere but on Ebay for a ridiculous premium from scalpers. -
Ordered X-1 with a nice 120GB SSD. Worked better for me, have a backpack already and I don't want a mouse I wont use. got it for $1750ish shipped over night. And also just because it only has a 1yr warranty doesn't mean it's going to omgz blow up at 1 year after purchase, it's the exact same parts as the A1 and A2 (With the optical drive differences obviously) and I was going to switch to a SSD anyways so if they want to sell me one with one HDD and slash the price rock on. If anything I find it more convenient, besides if you intend on swapping the CPU for something better down the road when prices drop your warranty is void pretty much anyways unless you're sneaky which more power to ya. The BR player would have been nice but seeing as how I have a LCD TV and a couch for that I doubt I'd ever use it on this lappy.

If so I'll have an A-1 fully functioning by next week basically. That is the only chance we take is that the Blu-ray might not work. Even if it doesn't you could always just plug in an external USB blu-ray drive. They have gotten thin as about half an inch in some models. -
You have to give Justin credit. He's giving you guys authentic information as if you were speaking directly to ASUS. That's down-to-earth honesty if you ask me. Regardless of how upsetting the information is.
Dell would just delay your order and you'd scream "G0D D4MNIT!!!!!11one!!!!". Then Habib in India would say he's so sorry for your delays, and you'll get it very very soon. Then you see it four months later with more throttling issues than a Pinto. -
Hi guys i just got off the phone with Greytech one of the canadian resellers and they told me that ASUS is delaying the G73 because of heat related design flaws and that they wont be getting any until the end of march. Im not sure if they have credible information but that's what i was told. Let's hope they're just malinformed
-
That can't be true, then why would they release A2 first?
-
-
Why doesn't everyone leave Ken @ GenTech alone. The man is answering emial up until after midnight PST. My order was placed yesterday and I am waiting patiently using my Vista, Dull Latidtude D610. I know this is off topic but does anyone have a favorite imaging program? I am using a free version of Paragon (32 BIT) now and probably will buy another program assuming the one that comes with win 7 pro 64 bit (on my G73 ..boy I love saying that) is not up to 'snuff'.
-
As for an imaging program, I have been using and like "Paint.net". It's free, open source, and does everything I need it to do. -
That's how rumors start.

Bold letters. Provokingly nice. Bad punctuation. Unverifiable information. Unpopular source. Blatant hyperbole. Sure not a troll... -
That rumor sounds as bad as the guy who had 1 post said his friend bought one in China before it was released and it was blowing smoke out of its rear....
-
It has nothing to do with heat and everything to do with blu-ray diodes.
All the previews I read had this being much cooler/quieter than last gen NVIDIA GTX260/280 heat monsters. Those things would fry an egg lol. -
They fear you cancelling your pre-order and buying it now from Newegg.
So why not create a rumor that if you wait until MARCH you will get a "fixed" one from them with no "heat" issues.
ROFL.
I bet a lot of cancellations are coming into these guys and someone is desparate to start a rumor to stop it. -
I did have them remove the thermal paste upgrade as well as the Intel 5300 upgrade. I can change that later, if the stock one does not play well with my WRT600N -
This most recent delay has forced me to cancel my order with Xotic. I too just placed an order for the X1 with NewEgg. I really didn't want to do it, because I would much prefer to order from a reseller, but I simply cannot wait until the end of March for the computer. Sorry resellers :-(.

Of course your entire posts and posts before this by no way implies you're in any way biased towards Newegg. Your reasoning is indubitably sound, but the repetition makes one wonder why you aren't listed as a reseller yourself...
