    No problem.

Thanks for sharing as others were saying that they haven't heard from their resellers yet.

Well, you have. So Justing is correct ;)

Not obssessed with BluRay... just much better IMO, using it on travels between summer fishing home, home and work and I've already amassed a large collection so why NOT have BluRay in it? Better and cheaper than buying a dedicated player for each location.

what internal drive are you using? Guaranteed fit in the G73 with no sticking out/edges exposed? How do you get one specifically for Asus laptops if these are backing up orders presently? In the photos of the G73 on page 1 of this thread, it sure doesn't look like a standard fit drive due to the 'stealth' look, ie angles along the edge. It seems the drive has contour lines right down the middle of the faceplate... ? Last thing I want is something sticking out to catch on the laptop, clothes or anything else that might muck it up, knock it off a table, etc...

As far as the accidental warranty from Asus - $289 to upgrade to the 3 year policy with Newegg, whereas for $89 I get the same from Xotic (altho I have to wait... possibly...)

At least this laptop is worth waiting, and we will have more reviews by the time it ships

I mentioned it before, but for those worried about warranties, you can go with SqaureTrade. My post got mixed up with trash talk about how someone "types."

Correct me if i'm wrong, but the 3 year warranty that you can get from Xotic is not an accidental damage warranty. It only extends your parts/labor warranty one more year past the standard Asus 2 year....the same thing the $99 (2 year warranty) does on NewEgg (assuming that the X1 comes with 1 year standard).

I think you're right. But how exactly ServiceNet handles claims is something of an unknown while XoticPC has better reputation.

... the other thing to consider is when you install an aftermarket BluRay drive, does it have the same warranty as the one that comes packaged with the original purchase? At least if something goes wrong with the BluRay in the A1, it's covered by whatever warranty you decided to start with, i.e. 3 years.

Hello everyone. I have been following the thread for a long time now. The last delay killed my patience too, just canceled my order from Xotic and placed an X1 from Newegg. Hopefully, I will have it tomorrow if not Thursday at latest. I will be upgrading with a SSD in the future with prices cut =)

I order mine @ newegg @ 7 am (A2) and it being shipped. As for the the Blu-ray, find out what type of DVD Drive it is and you might be able to replace it with the same company and just change out the face plate to match the sides plate :)

Add the the laptop to your cart, and enter 100 in to your quantity. If it didnt show a error message, then they have more than 100 in stock. Got to know this from a newegg representative.

it's a heist! them 100 units must've been stolen in transit to xotic/gentec/etc and resold to newegg so some capone-wannabe could skim afew in the process!

damn, where'd i put that superfriends card!

Not true. At most, upgrades will add around 5 business days to an order for installation and testing, even if the whole thing has to come apart to make the upgrade :)

    FWIW...

How long does it generally take to process an order?
It takes one to two business days for us to process an order (prior to shipping it). Once the order has shipped, your estimated time of arrival will be determined by your selected shipping method and your local FedEx guidelines for delivery.

Newegg offers Rush Processing for orders placed before 12PM PST for a small additional fee. Newegg will put forth its best efforts. We cannot however, guarantee that your order will ship the same day. If we fail to ship your order on the same day, we will refund the Rush Processing fee.

Heh glad I got the low price.

They either raised the price because they are selling out, or they realized that it was cheaper to buy the X-1 and a 500GB HD, therefore giving you an A-2 for less than the price of an A-2 LOL. :p

In some ways an empty hard drive bay is better if you plan to upgrade this badboy at all.

The backpack is a necessity for me and most 17" laptop bags look retarded unless you pay $150 for one from a company that specializes in them. I don't feel like looking like a Best Buy customer walking around with a Targus or Swiss Gear bag or something that looks like it came from Wal*Mart. Call me an @$$h0l3, but I'm picky.

All said and done, I really really like the G73 backpack. It's subtle and made specifically for the G73.

I bought the G73JH-A2 from Newegg before they went out of stock. I guess I'll find a use for the mouse. Probably a shelf.

wow ASUS REALLY screwed the small enthusiast resellers.

ALL THE QUANTITY went to NewEgg.

I bet there are going to be angry calls from all the mom and pops to ASUS about how all the inventory was dumped through NewEgg!!
