The sensor is capable of reading just about any surface (even glass!) which is nice for someone who's environment is constantly changing. I have the desktop version and love it.

 

Hmm. I think once we start getting into X2 and X3, we might be starting to get into Euro territory. Word was that Europe and Asia would be getting an i5 variant of this laptop with an X designation. I wonder if that's what that is. I can't think of much else they could strip down from the X1 to make it a better value.

 

That's another reason why I'm holding off from ordering from anywhere buy XoticPC or Ken @ GenTech (Ken's there, right?). I always see them posting here, and I rarely see resellers as connected to their customers as they are here.

Yea, got a nice 128GB SSD with my X-1. It will be my first SSD I've used so I hope it's as bad as everyone on the planet claims (Which I'm sure it is)

I do to. I feel like they got shafted, but you just have to realize that the G73 isn't going to be the difference between starving children and a table of food. They sell a bunch of different products; it's just a shame how this one came down.

They still offered to honor their commitment to the cpu and thermal upgrades even after finding out that Asus built the cpu/gpu sockets in the reverse side of the motherboard!

That says a lot and is another reason why I will hold the line and stick with them. Pay it forward comes to mind and I know if I have an issue down the road, they will be on the phone with you in a heart-beat getting you fixed up.

I have, on more than one occasion, called UPS and had them flag my package to be held at the distro center, so I could pick it up myself. If they can see it in their system already, they may be able to intercept it before it finds it's way onto one of those brown trucks.

Dude thats a lie..when I ordered my M15x, a indian dude said he's gonna give me a discount for the laptop if I buy thru him, and the next day when i was rdy to buy it i called Dell and spoked with another guy, and I gave him my quote number or something. And when he read the specs to me, the indian dude didnt upgrade my video card, < and that was his big discount. So yeah they Lie.

Yea I'm talking about a desktop here sorry for the confusion.Only reason I'm getting the laptop is so it takes up less space.It will never leave my apartment for any reason.I know people are going to say build your own but theres only at most a $200.00 price diffrence so shove it

I'm really tempted to cancel my A1 and order X1. But isn't it a waste to watch a DVD movie on a 1080p screen? Don't DVD's only play at like 480p? Or is it improved if the screen is better?

Are there external blu ray players that can be plugged into laptops easily?

I'm wondering about the keyboard and how it compares to the M17x. I'm also curious to see how the air flow works out and the screen represents blacks and so forth.

 

I'll be looking forward to the pics too, but you ARE aware that ViciousXUSMC and some other members (whose names escape me) have posted quite a few pics of the machine live and in color, right?
