Hope this isn't off-topic...
But are good graphics like the Asus G73JH supposed to increase or reduce the probability of motion sickness from games like Modern Warfare 2 and Far Cry 2?
This seems like a great laptop but I can't play games like Half-Life 2 without feeling dizzy and wanting to vomit. So is it worth getting a high performance laptop if most high performance games are First Person Shooters and can't be played without motion sickness? Or do better graphics make motion sickness less probable? I had some hope because I didn't feel anything from watching the Crysis demo on this machine, but when I watched IGN's video review of Crysis, I started feeling dizzy...

I'll test it out. It definitely looks interesting...only problem is that the default dpi is 4500, which is wayyyyy too high (the drivers distort sensitivity somewhat and gaming mice typically work best at their highest dpi anyways). But like that white guy said in tokyo drift "it's the ride, not the rider"
But if you've been using the deathadder and have not had any problems with it (if it were too big or small for example) then just stick with it. Ultimately they're both solid mice so it will really just come down to your individual skill and which mouse you're more comfortable with. Hope that helps

Hmmm...I have no idea why you would feel nautious. I used to get carsick as a kid but gaming has never made me feel sick...ever. Not sure dude. I guess just stay away from fpses and stick to the basics like platforming and puzzle games. Silent Hill 2 is a REALLY cool puzzle game that probly won't make you sick. Check it out

Maybe though, if the graphics are bad, then it won't be such a strong simulation of the real world and won't cause nausea. Anyway, if Crysis won't cause it, then a good graphics card is probably worth it. But I think it was made by the same developers of Far Cry 2, which doesn't give me much hope... -
Edit: others = FC1, Crysis, Crysis 2 -
Should I buy resident evil 5 for this laptop or xbox which would look better
-
Laptop hands down.

But if you must..get it for laptop as it looks ugly as hell on the Xbox. -

Resident Evil 5 wasn't that bad. Except it's really annoying when I have no bullets..

I get very dizzy and sick on some 3d games and some times of the year. WOW is fine, but something like Crysis can toggle it. COD:MW2 is just fine, and thank god

Hope yours arrive soon!

Well since this laptop comes with a pretty average mouse standard, and I have to hand over the Razer Copperhead that came with the G51J when I sell it I just ordered a Razer Mamba.
A kick @ss machine deserves a kick @ss mouse for gaming right?
Anyone used one of these? Reviews seem good but I'd love to hear a regular persons experience with one. -
Right! I've played through it twice. Once as a female tank, and once as a male mage. TOTALLY different game as far as the story arcs if you play as a female! (You will have to endure the awkwardness of feeling kind of gay playing out romance branches as a female) lol[/QUOTE]
Lol! I'm still on my first play through as a warrior. Wished I had gone mage though honestly. -
Oh and the X1 doesn't have the backpack and mouse. -

Hey I asked this before but it wasn't very clear. Can you use the mouse on the blank area to the side of the touchpad?

You're likely to find very biased opinions here (and rightly so) but it's all personal. I personally love the xbox360 controller, but I enjoy the keyboard/mouse too. If you've never gamed on a pc before, it will take a while to get used to it, but try it out yourself before you let bias get in the way -
I am really very confused on this issue...
Is the chipset of the G73JH PM55 or HM55?? Newegg lists it as HM55, but I've seen various other sites list it as PM55... Does anyone know which one it is? (Would it really matter, either way?)

I really hope that this whole delay from pc canada is a mistake. How can you change the date of arrival 1 day before the actual shipping date! I was so happy to get mine later this week, can't believe I might have to wait nearly 3 more weeks!
-
They list these as the dimensions:
Dimensions 16.60" x 12.80" x 0.80" - 2.30"
Weight 8.00 lbs.
Real one (A1 and A2) is:
* 8.5lbs with 8-cell battery
* 16"x11.6"x1.8" (W x D x H)
Edit: Or are they 18.4 x 12.4 x 1.8 inches? I don't know now.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
Does anyone know yet if the 500GB HDs of the X1 version are in 2X 250GB or 1x 500GB layout? Adding a second hard drive would be sweet if it was in the latter rather than the former ^__^
-
PC Canada just changed arrival date to March 2.
-
Best guess is 2x250. Would probably be more cost effective. -
Unless your just totally strapped for cash i would get the A1 no matter what....
The extra HD and warranty are worth far more then price increase is....
Plus the freebie backpack and mouse its pretty much a no brainer on which to pick....
-
Also with the money you saved you could add a SSD drive I assume.
I also can't see where the warranty is different, but I won't be suprised if it is.
