I agree on the warranty for sure, but the extra hard drive is no use to me since raid 0 isn't an option.

    I don't need a backpack or a mouse. :p

That being said I am still keeping my A1 order.

for someone who has not ordered one yet, and wants one asap and would take any config, where should they go?

Newegg charges tax for California residents, looking for someone that doesnt charge tax

If you take the time to switch to a keyboard, your movement will become much more fluid and efficient (cutting corners or zig zagging rapidly in an fps for example). There's a reason counter strike was made for the pc and not the consoles :p

The Razer Mamba is wayyyy overpriced and does NOT have a cord, a major fault. The deathadder is better imo.

I am not the expert here, but I would go with the A2 if you can afford it since it has an extra year warranty.

This does however looks like the fastest way to get it since Newegg says it doesn't show products it doesn't have in stock.

I was a little unsure about the wireless for gaming but I do love a cordless mouse and it does have wired functionality too. It is pricey though. Never thought I'd be spending so much on a mouse.

Man this is still a hot topic. Part 2 was created roughly 24 hours ago and it's already got 37 pages of discussion.

ASUS need to get these things out ASAP before we all go crazy.

haha I agree with you 100% I would much rather have the G73.. but by the time I get the remaining money.. this might be in backorder.. and I would like a new laptop fairly soon... So I guess I am gonna have to wait. Thank you Quad, you have been very helpful with my decision on the G73. It is a must buy (altho for a college student.. its kinda pricey.. but the most bag for the buck... :D ). I am gonna see if my parents will lend me money haha

Does anyone know when ASUS usually adds their new products to their site because this one is still not up. I know they have a driver/utlity page for it but I was looking for a main G73JH page so I can rip and photoshop up a nice background out of their high quality images. most of the images circulating the web now arnt very high quality...
    Any help is appreciated,

Just spoke with Ken over @ GenTech. Gotta say, I've never had better service than with Ken. It's a real pleasure.

He said that if you've already ordered yours that they'll still upgrade the ICD if you want. (Someone mentioned this already, can't remember who)
I decided to go ahead and take it off of my order. He also said that the Atheros is the standard wireless card for American G73JH's. I remember there was a discussion about this earlier.

So I'll be getting a stock G73JH-A1. Now if February 17th would just hurry up and get here :(

Oh, and this stupid thing is real distraction (this thread/anticipation) It's making it hard for me to study for my CCNA Security lol.

    Hey guys,

Just joined, preordered and all, disclaimer: I did my search...
SO quick question; I know that several posters in past threads have insisted that swapping out a hard drive doesn't void the warranty of the rest of the machine...but has anyone proven this to be true? What does tha accompanying documentation say (for the owners)?

    Thanks guys..

As long as there is no seal to break (and there is not as far as I know) you can do what you want. You would need to change the drive back before sending the machine in for service though should something bad ever happen.

This is one of those scenarios that even if it was not allowed they would/could never know anyways unless there was a seal sticker.

The Mamba DOES have a cord, it's detachable. You can charge the mouse on the dock and use it wirelessly, or use it on the cord whilst charging it at the same time. It's a nice piece of hardware and has a nice braided cord, if you've got the budget for it.

Possibly increase. I had this problem with Jedi Knight (shooters not a problem). With a powerful laptop your going to get great frames per second which might simulate motion more than a weaker machine. I would suggest maxing everything to reduce frames per second. Also the 17 inch screen might be less dizzying than a massive 24 and above screen.

Also FPS games aren't the only great ones to play. Maybe look for another type of game.

Thanks for the heads up!! Now I'm just waiting on my federal taxes to get here.... I'm not sure if I want the A1 or A2 now.... Wow the X1 is a nice alternative to the G51!

Overprice, yes, but not having the cord is a HUGE bonus, not a fault. Even against the Microsoft X8[2nd best hybrid], it's still better then all cordless mouse and just as good[or better] as any corded mouse, while being cordless.

There was no difference when I tested it with the cord and without. I am using the Mamba with my A1 or A2 when I get it and leave the G9 on my main gaming rig. Plus you can recharge it while gaming or whatever, by plugging it in.

yeah, I agree. So far my experience with Ken/ Gentechpc has been nothing but positive.

However, I will reserve my final judgment of Gentechpc as a business until I actually receive my laptop. :)

Generally its one or two screws and it slides out. So very easy. Though I do not see the screw marked on the outside so it may be internal on the G73.

Everywhere I check it states sata for the drives, yet "ata interface" for the dvd drive. After looking at images of the bios, I assume this means sata as well. Though I'm wondering if it is 1.5 or 3.

Stupid question -- the two models someone recently posted on newegg...those are the same style as the stealth laptop in this thread? I would definitely entertain the idea of buying one off newegg if it's just a matter of some diff specs here and there.
