Go into bios and change it. You might have yours on auto, you'll have to set it to manual. If you don't know what you're doing, read up on it, or just don't touch it. If you screw up, you can always reset and start over. There's a reset button at the bottom of the motherboard.

I don't have an Asus mobo, so I'm not sure how they work. Mine's the EVGA X58, so mines different from yours. It shouldn't be that hard if you read up on them. I didn't know anything when built my first computer back in 2001. Yeah I made alot of mistakes and cost me alot of money along the way.

I'm not sure how OC or whatever on the G73. I won't know until someone reviews it and mine ships out. I will assume it'll be close to the desktop version, but different too. A little over a week left until the A1 comes in.....

    http://www.techspot.com/review/71-asus-maximus-formula-motherboard/page4.html

I have a high end pc[[email protected], 260GTX SLI] and no I don't "need" the G73. I just "want" it. I can run my second WoW account on the G73 and play in bed if I feel lazy and don't want to get up. I just need to find a little table I can use on the bed...

I wanted to see one of these units in person before making my buying decision. Alas, it's not to be. Best Buy no longer has them in stores. Neither does Staples. No other retailer in SW Florida carries it. Bummer.

Ooooh allegorical. I C vicious! btw your report on the upgraded wireless card seems like bad news...I mean I'd prefer to have the best available but if you were say, playing an online game and had an average router (200 something kb/s), would you notice any difference? thx

Seriously Best Buy had the G73 before GenTech/XoticPC/EXCaliberPC did? Staples sells Asus Gaming Laptops? Last I went to Staples it was, meh, meh, meh, and more meh. Whether it was a Gateway, HP, Compaq, it seemed every laptop was the exact same except rebranded. Oh wait...

If you read the white papers for the 5300 it requires a special router technology that is not in the common router to get the faster speed. Without it, it will be just as fast as the 5100. I dont even think you get better reception or anything like that because I think the extra antenna is only in use while connected to said hardware to increase the bandwidth.

Look forward to some of the new owners first impressions and the user reviews. That will be your best bet.

I would assume they will be very quiet due to the robust cooling solution and the newer card tech. The W90 I just had was almost always silent and a similar cooling solution and it was holding two video cards instead of just one.

    Hurray, a review soon.

I'm not giving up my G51vx anytime soon, but hey, I like to see what new tech can do.

Speedstep. Or, Enhanced Intel Speedstep Control to be more correct.

And I didn't know speedstep affected RAM. I thought it just lowered the multipliers on the CPU.

Just basic for me I had no reason to get ICD and I like to review products with a base configuration so it applies for the masses.

There is not as much use reviewing a unit that is fully upgraded to like the highest cpu, 3x more ram, dual SSDs in raid 0. Because its not the same unit anymore and it sure cost a lot more too.

You think he's lucky? I feel like I won the lottery. I called today at 10am, ordered it and paid for it by 10:20, and it was dropped off at the FedEx Kinko's by 3:06pm. It will be delivered by 1:30pm tomorrow. I am 15 hours away from some Modern Warfare 2/Crysis goodness on the sweetest looking machine I've seen. On a side note, no wonder it was $158 to ship overnight. It's freaking 19lbs!

its funny you should do that. ive been working on a background/account picture of the g73 with afterburners on full blast(the whole heat wave thing). although i don't think the F-117 has afterburners. im actually just learning Photoshop and Illustrator to make backgrounds for my G73JH when I get it

There's no way the stock GPU will be pushed to score similar to two 260's in SLI.

That's B.S. You are not the only one with friends from China and had them do research on the G73. The G73 is being sold equivalent over $2000 in China and there haven't been any postings on Chinese forums of heating issues.

    - It's ironic that products made in China sometimes are more expensive in China.

Based on some downclocked 5750 runs, the 5870 should be able to get between 3600 and 3900 in 1080p Vantage Ex. That's 900 to 1200 better than the GTX 280m. Not a huge gain, but a gain, none the less. I should be sleeping right now, but I am so excited about my delivery tomorrow, I am digging up all my software and drivers getting ready for the install.

Maybe not, but we can hope for more stability. There is a posting here where someone compared SLI 280s to HD5870. HD5870 while lower overall numbers, person said it did not suffer stuttering and significant slow down like the 280 suffered. From that posting, believed the HD5870 was overall the better card over the SLI 280 for that reason. But that is just one person's assessment and these are desktop cards.

iTunes --> File --> Show Duplicates

Select the ones you want to get rid of, and hold down SHIFT, the press DEL. This will allow you to move them to the recycle bin instead of just removing them from iTunes's playlist.

isn't the 5870 claimed to be 30% faster than a 260m? 260m in SLI is abt 40% more than a 260m alone if I'm not mistaken. There is still hope.
