Whoa, just got home and read all the madness! Awesome!

EDIT: NVM, just saw your post...Quad, could you please install Everest so we can get temp readings of the 5870?

Scores so far are looking outstanding. 7400 in vantage is phenomenal. Can not WAIT to get this next week and start OC'ing the gpu!

Looks nice.. I'm still debating between this amongst the other contenders I'm eyeballing. The G73JH-A1 has the best gpu apparently. Its good to see some benchmarks rolling in finally. I'm waiting to see 'real world' fps comparisons on popular games with the cards in the notebooks I'm considering before I make a descision.

    http://www.3dalchemist.com/hardware-info/dtrs_1-2010.htm

Hope its not too OT, but I have a question since I really would miss the esata and/or express slot: other than the "glam" lights, price difference, base warranty... whats wrong with the hardware on the msi model that has the 5870 in it? Someone said the lcd was bad? Cooling solution bad pulling air in past hot harddrive? Can anyone confirm this, and detail whats wrong with the lcd? I'm not sure if they meant the display quality is bad , or that the hinges were weak, etc.. and if that is confirmed. Thanks.

edit.. found the link.. may have meant that its 1680x1050 instead of 1920x1080 but notify me of any other shortcomings if anyone can please.

So far the scores look great!

I'm wondering about the screen quality/viewing angles and how is the sound with the sub-woofer.

    Congratts guys!

One of the major things we're missing here is a nice, extensive video review. Oh how I wish I knew it was gonna rock this much, I would have made myself one of the Saturday deelivary peoplez!

I don't know why but with all the new systems lately with ATi video cards there is no GPU Sensor. :(

It's uploading, it takes forever. :(

I am sure there is a sensor, justin.

AMD GPU Clock Tool should do the trick ;)

I can oc and get temps off of my 5830 using it.

I guess one of the most important things after following the new AW thread, is does it flicker/stutter/throttle in benchmarks? I have a feeling that just has to do with the huge power draw of the dual cards, but it would be nice to know our G73 doesn't throttle!

Would need a 920 owner but the M17x doesn't have issue with using a single card so I doubt the G73 will.

If you do, thanks mate :)

Since my mobility 5830 has the same die as the 5870, it doesn't make any sense not to have the sensor.

Perhaps it just needs updated. Might use a currently non-supported sensor, I'd be surprised if it was completely absent.

When you click the thermals tab, you have to select each sensor (highlight it) and at the bottom right check enable reading, then click start.

Can someone please post full pictures of the keyboard, pad, with monitor etc unpackaged ? I've only seen partial pictures of the keyboard and the only pictures of the screen and keyboard still have the packaging on them.

also, any info on fan noise ?

No no, fans suck in air from above the keyboard area. That effectively pushes all the heat from the GPU and CPU before it even has a chance to heat up the palmrest. I can feel luke warm air being pushed lightly through the two exhaust ports in the rear. I am installing Crysis and will see how loud the fans get.
