the hinges look strong from what I can see in the pictures. Thats a weak point on many notebooks. The fans blasting hot component air directly off of them and out of the back is a good design too. I'm still trying to compare a lot of points vs other notebook options before I decide.

I'm curious....when you run these stress tests, such as the Vantage test, how long does that stress the CPU/GPU? Just curious if it gives those two components enough time to get to a steady temperature. Sorry for my ignorance, I haven't played around with benchmarks too much.

 

Here you go, here is a screen shot: (Remember this is OC'd with the settings I just provided). I bet we can get it up a little higher and narrow that margin to the SLi 280M GTX's The machine is very quiet when running.

and damn, props to you, you were right! I am glad I put in so much work to grab this beast. I have Crysis going with the Real Lifesys mod, and it is extremely amazing on this LED backlit screen! Now to try some MW2.

 

it's close to the 260m gtx sli not the 280m gtx sli. But very nice results.

why is it making you depressed. 8500 is what the 9800m gtx sli stock gets and this machine speaks numbers I'm very happy for the g73 owners.

Rendering is done just waiting on You Tube We have tried increasing the clocks up from the 799/1200 and it doesn't appear we will be able to go past that OC. Pretty good OC though.

BTW, we are running a 1080P Vantage Run OC'd.

 

Still a very good result without having to overvolt! Maybe drop the mem overclock down a little bit and push the core up a little higher?

 

Temps are very low. This laptop is so much better than I expected.

Our last 920XM we had in stock just shipped, we will be doing a 920XM bench early next week. The 920XM and the OC could be what it takes to close the gap to the SLi 280M's.

This will be my first laptop and I here you guys talking about overclocked and removing Bloatware are these things easy to do? I would love to get the same experience as you guys but lack the experience.

 

removing bloatware is like removing one of the installed games in your laptop. it should be VERY easy.
Overclocking is fairly easy too.

I have an i7 820 sitting here but i dont feel like ripping apart the machine because i need to send it back monday and the 920 will be a couple days later maybe Weds ...

If the machine didnt require a complete tear down to get at the CPU i would have it in already ...

It is quite easy. As sleey0 pointed to AMD GPU Clock tool, all you need to do is install the app, increase the clocks and save. That is all there is to it. (799/1200)
