You Overclock at your own risk. If you were to every have a warranty claim, to be safe you should restore it to stock clocks. -

Good advise Justin...... however, Asus can tell if the cards have been OC'ed.
-
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
Asus has no evidence against the user for suspected overclocking if the user returns the clocks back to factory for a BIOS overclock. Software overclocking is reverted every time the system is shut down.
-
i am very glad, this are so good news. i cant wait any longer i want this nice and powerful notebook
hope that they will deliver earlier than april.
-
Oh, thanks Justin, did'nt know it was so easy. But, I have to watch the GPU temperature and what else? What range of temperature is good?
-
Thanks!
Anyway it sucks, pre-ordered on early january and see people pre-ordering few days ago with it in their hands!!
((((((((
Anyways, do you if the 1333 RAM it's gonna be for all of them or was it just for the first few? -
Well... There goes everybody's warranty. lol
Plus... If you do happen to blow the CPU via overclocking you won't be able to get back in to reset the clocks before you ship it back to Asus.. Unless you quickly swap in/out another processor.
-
If I don't over clock will I still be getting a great gaming laptop?
-
yes, vIGAMEIv.

Well, the label on the box actually spells out 1066 ram, so I would not be surprised if future shipments get the 1066, once stock for the 1066 cards start to fill the supply chain again. Either that, or you may see resellers charging a little more, especially if their costs increase from Asus.
Unless Asus sends out a memo, It seems unlikely that anyone will have an answer so early. -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
Cards != CPU's.
Yes. -
@Justin
Can you confirm the 1333 ram in the version you are testing?
Also, do you know if that is the spec for this pc or is that just coming in the early models due to the 1066 shortage?
Looking forward to the vid.... -

I personally wouldn't game with a OC'd system. I'll just hit the turbo for gaming.

Hey, I am just putting it out there. Take heed, or take it with a rain of salt. Doesn't matter to me either way, but this info came directly from Asus R&D, Taiwan. My understanding is they have a diag they can run, that not only tells specific clocks, but they can also determine the max temps placed on the cards.
Again, matters not to me.......
-
100% Yes, Absolutely.
-
a question tho... (I'm not familiar with the turbo button or the I7 chip for that matter)
Didn't the 3Dmark score Justin posted drop slightly with the turbo on? So how would gaming benefit from that? -
I'm about to go get a wireless router so its here when the lap top gets here any suggestions?
-
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
That's the biggest load of bollocks I've heard today. Every desktop user that sent in their fried Asus branded cards would be out of luck if that were so. You better back up where you read that info from.
It doesn't matter if it doesn't apply to you. People reading this garbage are going to be scared of overclocking in fear that Asus will know. -
I really highly positively doubt ASUS can tell the GPU has been overclocked.
With that being said, I don't see a reason in overclocking if games run fine @ stock clock.
Desktops -- yes.
Laptops -- no way. (For me at least.) -
I love and adore my Linksys WRT600N (DD-WRT firmware) ... dual band A and B/G/N rocks. Streaming HD videos thru the house is so much fun and not had any issues with 2 computers and 1 Xbox dropping or anything like that.
-
Im getting my on Thursday T T I hate waiting

At least you know you are getting it... I am still saving up for this bad boy.... -
sooo whats the dealio? anyone have theirs yet? hows it lookin? any problems?
-

You speak directly with R&D from Taiwan? If you returned any GPU to stock clocks I don't see anyway anyone would know the clocks it was running at. From what you are saying, your understanding is that a log file is going continually on the system to track everything the GPU does from day one?
From what we know at this time, it appears this is the same as the G51 where it was a supply issue.
When we pushed the clocks up beyond stable clocks we reported earlier the screen would turn black and a hard re-boot was required and the stock clocks loaded by default. -
LOLWUT!!??

I think it was Quadzila who saw his numbers go down while on turbo. -
Nah, no one has g73jh yet.
I can't wait to see some benchmarks!
-
Ugh, tell me about it. I think Kim and I are some of the first ones on the list and we have to wait until late next week. At the earliest...
-
That is true...
I don't even wanna think about it. -
Such good scores and overall positive feedback is making me want to do the impossible to get this machine. It basically is doubling my GPU score on vantage! (when OCd) and still much cooler running lol.
I shall preorder today and get it tomorrow !

Well, if your premise is correct then, I guess we would then have to assume, that Asus R&D just wants folks to believe they have this capability, huh?
Again, I am just putting it out there..... take it or leave it. Don't beat up the messenger here! BTW, I also got similar info from Asus HQ. Perhaps make your own inquiries...... obviously I did not record my telephone conversations on this, and I will not post confidential email.
And it doesn't apply to me, because I will OC regardless.......
-
I was looking at star wars the Old republic trailer it looks pretty good.Do you guys think a game like that will play good on this laptop
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOvbv-LkK6w -
roger that same here. lol
-
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
No, I do not Justin. This originated in the early W90 era, and it came via Asus HQ, in telephone conversation, and a partially sanitized email was shared from R&D, so I can not name drop or go further with this. I will say Justin, please inquire into this, and see what you can find out. Again, I am just putting it out there.
Gee guys, why else would I make such a statement? See what you can find out, and please let us know.
-
Bah nm i had some DIRT 2 pics but the FPS is not showing up lol...

what are your framerates quad?

-

for some reason Fraps screenshots are not showing the fps .... -
This is a major reason why I canceled my pre-order. Yesterday I tried to get an ETA and I was told maybe in a couple weeks or maybe in March. My pre-order is almost a month old. I'm not willing to be jerked around like that when they have my cash.
-
Which reseller jerked you around, please?
-
Well, at least I know dual 5870's will be a beast in the M17x
-
Sorry not going to say. They are polite but unable to get me any real info.
-
Thanks for looking out for the rest of us. Appreciate it. Hope I can return the favor.
