is a finger print magnet or is it tat hardened/rubbery style.. looks like a plain hardened rubbery stuff...

Also, is that the official release design or just a standard showroom design to roll it out quickly for show...

VERY VERY true!! I love the raised design also, gives it a canted feel for typing already and should allow for much more airflow room inside to keep fresh air circulating... Hopefully ASUS will allow us the ability to control fan speeds and there kickin temps.. again just hopin!

It's 17.3 but since the frame is a little bit huge compared to the regular 18 laptops, it will be around 18 which is too big for me :(

    Sony 18
    [IMG]

    Acer 18
    [IMG]

As you can see the frame is kinda huge in the G73

Didn't know if anyone noticed, but on XoticPC they updated the G73 to support up to 16 GB of Ram. So those of you you ordered it with 8 and wants more, I'm sure you can have them change your order! I'm gonna be ordering mine with 12, just for fun ;-).

8gb is overkill as it is... 12 is MEGA, and 16 is Gigantor overkill... who the hell needs 16gb of ram for computing tasks? thats like nasa level stuff :p

You'd save at least $100 if you purchased the ram from newegg and upgrade it yourself. :)

If you play with multiple VTs, having more ram is always a good thing.

From the looks (and this is purely speculation), it looks like the same rubber-like material from the G51 palm rest. This is definitely a plus over any glossy surface which can make your laptop look constantly dirty.

Thread is on fire... this thing look sick! I am sooo glad they made it look simple (besides the cooling, which IMO is kinda awesome lol). I like the one color, nothing too flashy look. God I hope I can get this thing!

You don't think they have a final design for the laptop they are releasing in a matter of weeks?

I don't follow brand-spanking new laptops at CES enough to know if that is standard practice...is it?

Those 7200RPM 500GB reach 103MB/s (max) so you can get 200MB/S with raid :p 1TB SSD anyone?

its not even close to an SSD. the better part of SSDs is access time, which no mechanical drive comes close to.

lol does this laptop even lack like anything?
Hell if they priced it at 2.000$ instead of 1600$ it still would be sold out for like 3months at least SPECIALLY with Nvidia complete absence.

I believe that asus wont let us down, the have the extremely new thermal management design in this system with its ergonomically designed chassis for maximum airflow with the dual fans to disperse the air, I highly doubt this system will be a disappointment! but then again, we will know.. BTW, has an official launch date been announced at CES yet?

just saying lol to give you an idea of how a beast is the 5870 XD
if the official battery life is 71min (Power save mode/Brightness low/Wireless off lmao/etc you know the usual fake) then in real life it will properly last 30min or less while gaming :p

I personally don't care about battery life, i take my laptop to friends house/change room in my house/etc and of course traveling with a desktop is not an option
