I'm ignorant when it comes to the benchmarking....is this bad or good?
-
-
This means that the score is inflated compared to the standard benchmarking score.
-
This is what my M15x scores with Physx turned off and the GPU OC'd using 1280x1024 resolution:
-
hah!
no more preorder!
lol jk
but seriously.. ..
this is basically a 4890 mobility to me -
-
Its hilarious they used 1366 as the resolution to run when the 1920x1080 panel can run 1280x1024 lol...
-
So is this card not as good as everyone has been thinking it is then?
-
Also a note, Joker's i7 820xm hit 12,000 CPU score whereas the 720 in the pic hit 8600 or so..
-
If the benchmark is accurate I'd say hell no. -
Man that's a shame but I suppose that would sorta explain the low(ish) price huh?
-
no its not, but its better then a 280. So i am happy
-
Fair enough
-
Well it was all speculation up to this point but yeah based on that score its nothing to get terribly excited about... We will have to wait and see though as time progresses if anything else comes out showing us more about the card IE 256bit or 128bit etc... If i were guessing based on that score its 128 though .. -
I'm betting on 1 of 2 things (or both in the worst case):
1. Cut down 128 bit bus
2. Reduced clocks
Guess I'll grab the refreshed M17x as soon as it's released whenever that may be. -
joker, was your score also on 1366x768?
if so, it isnt that bad, your Gpu score was 5669 and this card scoring 8640 in Gpu
Edit: sorry just saw your post again, you mentioned it was 1280x1024 -
Nope 1280x1024 but my GPU was oc'd to 636/1590/1000. The 5870 is nice, just not as nice as we all hoped (e.g. 260M SLI performance). -
it scores 8640 in CPU...and his run was at 1280x1024 -
no that was the CPU score the GPU score could not be released since its still under NDA
highest i got on my 260 was 6300 on the GPUFYI
-
So umm.. assuming that score is accurate, would a Sager with a GTX280M be better than this lappy? The 17.3" NP8760?
-
Which drivers? I'm running 195.62 so they tend to score less than 186.81. -
Dox 182.xx
My core was 720 linked with the shader and the mem @ 1100 -
1.03v? Or did you get a golden sample? -
Stock on the M17x V. I cooled it heavily
-
oh sorry, i thought that was the Gpu score..
Wel i'm still happy, it beats everything else for the same price..i just hope it's out by feb and not Q2 as the wired article stated
and yes, the m17x refresh will be pretty awesome, but just like the current m17x, wayyy out of most peoples budget(well out of mine for sure) -

i just looked at the scores and that is low. i'm thinking that asus is use 8.12 again. lol but really. i think we should just wait for real numbers. that score is way to horible to try and think why it is so bad and the res makes it even worse.
-
-
Gah... I was so excited now I dont know what to think! lol And with a possible Q2 release, eep. Just hope they release full details soon. Sadly, I need a laptop in the next month-month and a half. I will be keeping a close eye on it for the next couple weeks!

i'm still getting rid of my 280m gtx sli for this unit....
-
The 5870 is ~25% faster than a stock GTX260m. I just did a run of vantage at 1366x768 and got a GPU score of 5000. the FPS average in both of the GPU tests was also 15FPS, whereas the FPS average in both of the GPU tests for the 5870 were 20~FPS
-
*30% Faster than GTX260m*
So it's properly a little bit better than GTX280m lol oh well
Here is hoping Nvidia Next Cards will outperform Ati -
-
-
-
Personally I'm sold on the laptop regardless of its boost because:
1. the 5870 is better than what I have now (GTX260m)
2. BIGGER, I love bigger laptops, and this one is huge =D
3. I LOVE the aesthetics of this beast. IMO, better than any AW on the market atm. Suits my style perfectly. -
The laptop price for what it offers is still very impressive though and there is no card that is faster than the 5870 atm, it's no brainier for people who is searching for a gaming laptop.
However upgrading from GTX260m/GTX280m is questionable. -
how is a 25-30% upgrade from a 260m questionable? lol especially if you're one of the ones without i7

http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/1567017/nvidia-fermi-gpu-cut
They can't get the heat under control (big surprise) which is why you are SOL if you are waiting on Nvidia mobile this year. Also, a 30% improvement over the 260m gets a "lol" out of you? My guess is that once we get our hands on it, overclock the gpu and the cpu (which is what I believe is probably bottle-necking this score) it will be way more than 30% better than a 280m. "Lol". -
I was hoping for something that is 50% Faster than the GTX260m which use the same old architecture of g80....
Atm i will wait for the news about Nvidia Next GTX360m/GTX380m before i decide on my new laptop. -
-
wow...
at 2pm, i checked this thread (i was bookmarked on like pg. 19 btw) and it had 55 pgs...
it's now 12am EST, and it's at 80..dam this thread is hot...
way tl;dr lol, guess every1 is excited!
EDIT: OMFG just saw pics...def. pooped mah pants -

joker run your unit at the same settings...

Well, isn't the Mobility HD5870 an 800sp, 256bit 1GB GDDR5 unit?
That means it should, at the best case scenario, be around an HD4870 stock desktop part? Considering that I doubt clocks are as high as desktop counterparts... It should just be like a mobility HD4850 with GDDR5.
Well, basically it is just barely better than the GTX280M. -
-
My guess is that Ati is playing it's cards close, because it knows Nvidia is stuck in the mud right now. The bottom line is that the Mobile 5870 is the fastest single card solution right now, and probably will be for the better part of the year. -
-
So once Fermi is out that will be rebranded for the next 2-3 years just like G80 -
