Thanks for the welcome and help from all the replies. Even though I wanted a 15" this baby has everything I want. Can't wait to get my hands on it. As far as my name its the name of my favorite character in a funny movie. Not saying I have money to burn though lol.

They also help others with their business which is a huge deal for me.

do we plug lappies into the same sockets in a deployed setting - need for big surge protectors or not?
how many cans of that spray will you go through to prevent all that sand from screwing up the laptop?!?!?
(I'm sure I have more but those come to mind at the moment)... -

My new SIG is courtesy of fellow Crew Member, EIement (very cool Bro!, Thanks again!)!

Just a quick question about the mxm (or whatever ati calls their mobile slot). I know that asus reverses the pinout on the module so you cannot upgrade it with a normal module, but would you be able to upgrade it with an asus module?

I won't be able to order this machine till the end of feb, when my exams get over and i become a doctor!
so, i was thinking of waiting till CeBIT 2010 (mar 2-6) gets over. fermi will probably be released there along with with new mobile solution(if it exists). Clevo is also going to announce their new notebooks then, and maybe hopefully their 3D notebook might be affordable and awesome
Now all of what i said makes complete sense in my head, but whenever i see a pic/vid of this machine i feel like buying it right now!! -
Is it really worth it to wait til March-ish for Fermi though? I know about all the serious hype, but I'm just wondering. I'm waiting to pull the trigger and get a new laptop, but this makes me pause for a sec...

Silent lurker here - have decided to take the plunge with this beast.
Any opinions on whether the 400$ upgrade to i7-820QM is worthwhile
cheers -
iaTa is probably recovering from sensory overload!

That upgrade to the 820 would be worth it for most people. You get better turbo boost as well as more cache. Both good things to have

So what's the deal with Xotic changing their pricing so frequently?
-
Sony/Dell for example also constantly offer better cpu's in their same models. -

Dang....I got a laptop faster than that!
VERY interested to see what kind of benches this new Asus will pull though, I also am eager to see some pics of the insides, as the G51 cooling was obviously lacking - I want to see what they tried here -
-
and well i technically won't be becoming a doc then, i still have to do a 1 yr internship and then i get my degree and license!
but since so many doc's here in India, wont be gettin a decent job till i do my MD/MS so thats atleast 3-4 years more :/
Since, dont want post to be completely off-topic... someone had posted a amazon link of G73 pre-order which was removed quickly, is it back up? -

hope the GPU cooling is good, the W90 GPU cooling was not impressive to me (although the CPU cooling was)
-
-
i've always heard that when you buy a laptop, you're kinda stuck with it - that most laptops only allow you to change HDs and memory...but if at some point in time, one could swap out the CPU safely, that'd be an added bonus. From the little i understand though, GPUs typically are not things that can be upgraded huh? (e.g. in a G73) -

This is not really true.
Changing a processor is not that difficult, and if you have a good support team available from you vendor you should be able to get them to walk you through the process if you need help with it.
There are also plenty of guides on the Internet. Just Google for them. -
-
oddly enough, i have no problems partcipating in surgeries on people, but i find it very intimidating -the prospect of opening up a laptop and trying to put a new processor in....
