ROFL at IaTa for destroying the only G73JH-A1 on Earth.
-
I got the change your sig PM also and removed the powernotebooks link from it so maybe they are just policing this thread or someone complained who knows. Either way - another day down - hope to get a firm shipping date in the next few weeks.

That said, if its against the rules somehow, i suggest people refer to http://www.resellerratings.com/ for user feedback. -
As did I,
I reccomend power notebooks because me and Donald agree with our life choices and he helps other with his company
he is also a nice guy...
It goes beyond the realm of laptops
that being said I am still hearing feb. Launch
Also interested in the overclocking program to decompile it and see how it works -
I'd recommend GenTech because he's a professional and he's very trustworthy.
He'll find every ways to help you to go to the right direction. He's very easily contactable.
This is from my experience, every resellers are great also, I've been hearing nothing but good things about them!
and yeah I can't wait to get g73jh-a1!
this waiting time is killing me =( -
I am betting this laptop shows up later than we expect. After seeing iAta's CES experience with it, it doesn't even seem like it was a final design. The fact that the air intake wasn't even on the demo unit yet leads me to believe that it will be late February. That and this being Amd's newest mobile chip.

I think there are a couple of different resellers in here that just cant stand the thought of losing any business be it others promoting different resellers, complaining about that reseller, or customers banning together to group buy with a reseller. It drives them crazy so they start complaining to the moderators. until that person or thread is removed.
Its kinda sad. Just some nutjob resellers.
Now watch one of them respond to what i just said with alot of anger
I dont know if this has covered yet but does anyone why this is being called the G73JX in some places and G73JH in others, are these different models? -
I think it was only referred to as J X in the TechInStyle interview with the 2 product designers. It was prolly just a typo..
-
Yo guys I'm back. I tried to sneak back onto the ASUS stand but it was just too quiet. Shame I didn't try 3DMark on the first day as it was rammed.
It didn't look like the machine had been tampered with much but why would they have been running it at 70% CPU.
By the way you guys do know I came all the way from the UK to do this for you
Got a pic to show G73 cooling here. Will upload it now. Made me laugh that the rep (senior rep at that) thought that it sucked air in from a non existent gap. Actually nearly every rep at CES (not just ASUS) was next to useless. I knew more than most about their own products.

Donald@Paladin44 Retired
So even that diagram shows the air coming in from the rear of the laptop doesn't it?
-
Yeah I'm not sure about that bit TBH, but the main intakes are in the centre of the base as suspected.
-
that makes very little sense ....\
those vents are tiny .... also conflicts with other images and reports. Then on top of that their solutions looks counter productive -
It looks like the image shows that the air is in fact taken from the center vents on the bottom. The CPU and GPU could be positioned far back in the unit near the fans. No heat on the hands as well this way.
-
Hmm, I dont really know if I can wait anymore for the G73JH-A1, anyone selling a solid rig? Preferably a m17x or m15x?
-
2 questions on the diagram in the photo:
1. why does it show the "traditional solution" as pulling air from the front part of the chassis
2. why is showing the g73 as pulling air through lower part of the back vent and throwing it out again through upper part? -
Just placed my order (from btotech) for delivery half way across the world to New Zealand!
Can finally retire my faithful but aging 3 year old XPS M1710.
Hope the shipping/customs works out OK
This thread has been instrumental in allaying any doubts. -
so now that we know a little more about the cooling solution.... is there any fear or is just unknown at this time still if this laptop will have adequate cooling?
-
Well the keyboard and palm rest were very cool but who knows how well it actually cools the CPU and GPU. I couldn't monitor any GPU temps unfortunately.
-
i don't know
asus g73 break after 1 week, cooling system not very clear....but we must pay +1000-2000 and buy a dell laptop to have a serious gamer-laptop? -
Well I spoke to the guys on the MSI stand today and they are releasing a brand new chassis with the 5870 in Q2.
-
Got a response from both Gentech and XoticPC. Both confirmed what a couple already told me. The options the to configure the laptop in ways other than listed on the website is NOT possible. You'd have to sell the extra parts on your own.
BTW, both sales reps. are very nice and were VERY prompt with their replies. -
Ummm yea that's why the options are not listed as possible ones
-
The feet seem very shallow from the pics. If true, is there enough room underneath the laptop to bring sufficient air in for cooling?
-
-
Nice work on the recon Iata...hopefully we get a firm release date soon.
-
what material the G73 made of??
-
-
Win, awesome,......also probably some plastic. -

Hey.
I've read a chunk of this thread, gather most are pretty confident about this lappy.
Not challenging the concept, but why pre-order? I'm no businessman, so I'm thinking like whoa outside the box here - I can only think of two "practical" reasons: to avoid a possible price-hike upon release, and/or to avoid the comp selling out early. Am I warm? Are either of these likely with orders like this? Guessing they are, if people are putting down $1600+ instead of waiting.
But hold on a sec... I've just gone and set up a nice picnic here outside the box. Why even wait for the release? To read the standard slew of reviews before committing? Or could it be the waiters are waiting only to see if a better/cheaper notebook will be around by the time the G73 is released?
Whoa. -
I would just say they are early-adopters. A crucial group of people to any technologically oriented business.
-
Plus it's a chance to get your hands on the first mobile 5870s available. -
-
I don't like waiting through long pre orders
-
-
-
. Even if they have a card that is 10 times better than the 5870 a mere 6 months from release, they're very unlikely to advertise that fact until they've made back some of their investment with the 5870.
And the purpose of a preorder dovetails nicely in these two reasons: First, that early adopters love having first dibs on the new tech, and second, that previous notebook launches have proven again and again that new tech sells out fast initially.
Most people aren't pre-ordering out of fear of a price hike after launch, since that rarely (if ever) happens.
And of course, there's nothing wrong with not pre-ordering. If you're comfortable with possibly having to wait an extra month or so for all the preorders to be filled, there's absolutely nothing wrong with just waiting 'til release (and reviews) to make your pick. -

Some folks don't seem to get it, LOL!
Anyhow, I just got out of 3 minor surgeries, so if you guys don't mind, I will just sit here and stare at my monitor...... enjoying my Darvocets, while I wait on my G73JH.
-
just wanted to say this laptop looks sleep & very nice!
