EIment, I don't think we could go wrong with either of them. They are both great companies that care about their users.

Well, once we get the group list togeather.. I know Justin is aware that folks will want there own personal configuration.. So i would imagine it would be a set discount per order reguardless of configuration. But that is completely up to Justin as to the way he wants to handle it. The sooner we get the list togeather the sooner more information will be available. Please feel free to add your name to the list. Thank you.

guys, I've had ASUS G51J-a1 for 2weeks and a half. Tried to find answers to all these problems but couldn't.
do u guys think i can return this? i bought it from GentechPC, Ken Lee is very nice but
Laptop it just has too many problems, a gaming rig that doesnt run games? wow.

you probaly don't know how im feeling right now... i feel like i got screwed over badly.
And I called them like 20times but since its jan 1st theyre not working i guess, probably calling them tomorrow.
Since GentechPC has a nice service and everything I'm not giving my hopes up. I really hope they take it, even if it takes 10% off of this "gaming rig"... -__-

All of the resellers will price-match..... group discount..... etc, etc, etc.

The G73JH has just listed for pre-orders! If you give it a couple days or so, I think you will find reseller pricing will fall in-line, and pretty much the same, regardless which site you look at. Again, they all price-match, and if ABC will sell if for XXX dollars, so will XYZ. Rather than quibbling over current pricing disparities, better to consider reseller reputation, and whom you would rather do business with the most.

Also, consider that we are just 'Pre-Ordering'..... plenty of time to make changes, such as config, etc., or even changing your mind altogether. Also, unless you have paid in cash, no one is actually being charged, until the order is ready to ship.

Just a thought.....

 

I know you must be feeling terrible..well to be honest I was looking at the very same model,however at that point in time I wasnt aware of the BSOD problems that this model has.

However, the G73JH is also "un-reviewed/tested" .. one can never be sure of how this would turn out, Im optimistic and so are many on the forum..lets wait and watch.

No one forsaw the ammount of issues this laptop has had sense its release 3 months ago. I personally am returning mine to Newegg unopened due to manufactured defect. Asus has recognized the problem, but istead of fixing this issue, they have released an updated version of laptop with a different graphics card. I have high hopes that Gentech will work with you to help you and reach a compromise at least to benifit you.

If you have only had this notebook for 2 weeks, I feel certain Ken will make every effort to resolve your issues, and meet your satisfaction. Give him a call..... this will be your best path to resolution!

Were you aware of the fact that it has BSOD issues before buying it? I've been astonished to see people continue to buy the G51-J despite knowing it probably wont' run any games without BSOD.

 

I kinda knew about it, but Ken Lee told me that it will be fixed anytime soon when I was buying it.
I even told him is it safe to buy this product right now. He was telling me about how this laptop was sent to headquraters of ASUS and stuff.
But it's been 2weeks and a half still no fix. I'm getting tired of this.
I don't really care if they take 10% outta my 1500$, i just want this gone.

 

Well if he told you that it would be fixed and it hasn't, then he should take it back without a restocking fee because he knowingly sold you a defective product. Let's see what he does.

Rampant speculations or interpretations of the resellers policies, will serve you no purpose this evening. You really need to get with Ken. It's really no ones place here, to speak to what Ken will or won't do to resolve your issue.

Current price with DVD-RW drive on XOTIC is $1,506.60.

I would also be interested in dropping to 4GB RAM depending on the amount saved.

 

He told me it was sent to headquarters. (he didn't exactly say the word fix, but he was talkin like it would b fixed very soon)
so i was convinced and bought this laptop and this is the result.
I hope he takes it back. I'll post the results here tomorrow morning. Since I paid $1,489.00 + 50$ which was shipping, I hope I pay like 100$ more and get the G73JH-A1.

It was typo, if you pre-order it already and it says DDR3 1333 then we will shipped the DDR3 1333 instead of 1066.

Here's an interesting development......GenTech has changed the following prices on their G73JH web page:

3 Year ASUS GLOBAL Warranty = $119

AS5 for both CPU & GPU = FREE!

Downgrade to DVDRW = minus$95

Intel Core i7-820QM upgrade = $489

Intel Core i7 Extreme 920XM upgrade = $989

Also, the chipset spec has been corrected to 'Intel PM55 Express', and the Intel WiFi 5300 is not shown, because it is uncertain this will be a viable option. More on this will be known when the G73JH units begin to arrive.

 

Extra year warranty for $120 seems pretty solid...

Cant complain about the free AS5 upgrade thats for sure ...

The downgrade for the BD is a pretty huge savings and could be applied towards upgrading to a better CPU if desired so thats another major bonus..

Ill be keeping mine stock though and a new CPU might come in time if i see the need... I know ill want one when it comes to benching but id rather shoot for the 920 when it comes to upgrading Vs the 820...

 

Naw, silly idea..... would probably be a logistical nightmare, and I have a hunch, there may be some unhappy folks in the end. Beside's I am not looking to buy a 'base' model G73JH. I'm gonna stick with a more personal touch & service, and watch what happens with Justin's enlistee's, LOL!
