    LOL!

35 years of my life have been married, and the 'material girl' always emerges, ESPECIALLY in divorce, or with age.

Try to find some middle-ground fellas, LOL!

Unfortunately, I have to agree with you there. However, these women clearly havent found the satisfaction that comes with a good conquering/dominating/killing spree/pwnage lol

But as men need to be trained to put the toilet seat down, women need to be trained to expect less and then maybe they could actually be pleasantly surprised every once in a while :)

I'm getting my girl friend Dragon Age: Origin. It's a beautiful win/win really. That way my laptop is, almost, almost, like her own....atleast when I'm away for class and she's not. -_-... On second though, it might just backfire on me....

Hello all, I put in a pre-order last week and have proceeded to read through all 377 pages of this thread. I figure if I read the threads long enough, my laptop will some how appear...

I had a few initial Qs and one main one. First the initial Qs:

    1. What is better AW or Asus?
    2. Is it appropriate that resellers (and all manufacturers) don't send you the original part when you upgrade?
    3. Is 3dmark the best way to judge laptops?
    4. What reseller is best?
    5. What's up with the group buy thing? Who is in on it at this moment, and is it fair to the reseller?

Okay, when you guys are done with flaming out 377 more pages on the above, I have that main Q. I saw this asked in the thread but not specifically answered:
I am too cheap for the SSD setup at the moment (yes I realize its like getting a corvette and then putting $%!# tires on it, but like I said... I am cheap), so I am getting the RAID 0 setup now but am planning to throw on an SSD in the future when they get cheaper and I realize my mistake. Without further adu, the reason for my post is: how much of a hassle will it be to move my OS and whatever else from a RAID 0 setup across the 2 disks, to one SSD? Will I have to reformat and start over or can it be done with a simple utility.

p.s., the answers to above are 1. apples to oranges , 2. yes, duh, 3. whatever, we are all just chasing the dragon on g37 info, 4. whichever ships first, 5. I'm cheap but not that cheap, resellers deserve to subsist more so than bestbuy.

By the way I have a 2008 Z06 Corvette and I am getting the G73 without SSD

    fair enough. The important part:

"I am getting the RAID 0 setup now but am planning to throw on an SSD in the future when they get cheaper ... how much of a hassle will it be to move my OS and whatever else from a RAID 0 setup across the 2 disks, to one SSD? You will have to start from scratch.

You will have to back up all of your data and then do a clean OS install on your SSD.

    LOL! Old, old news......

Kinc's original post of this is on the XtremeSystems forums, and he is with Asus marketing. This little feat of his was done and posted, two days prior to the W90's release on 19 Feb 2009. No one since has gotten close, and he hasn't responded to questions, post, or email, regarding his stunt.

All he had that made him special was that unlocked BIOS.....Mandrake managed nearly the same thing in a M17 using XTU (he exceeded the CPU OC)

Oh, no doubt, a tweaked out bios, spec'ed and tweaked mem, XTU, Fugger, and the whole ASUS team behind him. I still laugh about the W90's final release bios, and how Asus never officially supported the QX9300 in the W90.

Nothing would have made me happier, than to see Drake smash Kinc's marks/marketing stunt. Besides, how can Kinc's marks be considered valid? It's not like anyone with a retail release W90 can replicate them.

Thanks for the links... Good reading, but it would appear that Kinc has turned into a Klink and pulled a Sholtz on everyone! lol It would be nice to know what video driver he used etc..

*Still,,, I am Very, Very impressed with the W90VP-A1 w/QX9300... It is Good looking and seems to have tons of jacks! I have to have one, reguardless of driver issues.. It's a sweet notebook. :)

Yep, pure deceptive marketing, and it worked!

The W90 could have been really great, and still a good seller today, if it were aggressively supported from the beginning. Great strides have since been made with the W90, but this credit goes to the fellow NBR members in the W90 thread.

Also never thought about this....the W90 was 1920x1080 wasnt it? So that 06 score is not at the standard 1280x1024 but at a lower resolution which would artificially boost the score in comparison to 1280x1024 scores

Maybe Mandrake DID beat it lol

He got upto 4 GHz because he could pump the core voltage up using XTU

he got 18200 in 06 with 3870s lol

And I will bet his screenies are studied. Like how he hid everything that could be compromising to the alleged score....

Thats also why i have been wondering why Asus chose 1366x768 to show off the G73 scores ?... Oh well we will know soon enough i guess..

So what's the deal with this SATA to USB cable/kit that comes with the V-series Kingstons?

"After the cloning process is completed, the operating system and applications will run with solid state drives and hard disk drive will be used to store data such as music, video, photos, and other similar files."

That's what I'm reading after a quick google search.

She still doesn't understand why I want all the bells and whistles in this new laptop, but I have a feeling once we have it, she'll know ;)

If I didn't run into power issues with the M17/4850/qx9300 combo 20K would have been easy. Regardless right now my M17 is packed away ready to be shipped to it's new owner and all I have to play with is my Thinkpad until my M17x/G73 systems come in.

    Ok,

I just cannot see why the W90 or Asus would have any issues with supporting the QX9300.. The chipsets socket supports it and it runs at the rated 45-watts thermal.. So that should not be an issue.. Didn't they initially come out with 2.8ghz/P9600 in them? I found a YouTube video that Gentech did on the W90 with QX9300.. It seemed pretty stable to me.. He even did a temperature reading.. It was a nice benchmark review. :)

Qx9300 worked great in my W90 but Asus did not officially support it because they never sold a model with that CPU in it... They were trying to keep the machine within a certain budget for the consumer and the Qx9300 would have driven the price way up... Still no excuse not to have multipliers etc in the bios though... I ripped mine apart the first day and found the PLL then worked with the guy from SETFSB so we could atleast OC to a degree but it was still a fairly weak OC atleast for the Qx9300.. The Q9000 guys made out like a bandit with some getting over 2.7ghz from 2.0ghz..

You kinda lost me... So after the QX9300 went in the W90 did the factory Asus overclock program still manage to bring it up to about 3.0ghz? Or is the only thing that worked was SETFSB? Or the Asus program worked, but SETFSB needed to go higher than 3.0ghz?

Nope the factory program brought it up only 3 or 5% i cant remember exactly since its been awhile... SETFSB was what brought it up to 3.0ghz although i found for gaming and such that 2.9ish was much better for stability... For benching though 3.0ghz was fine...

I have seen some low prices on eBay for a QX9300 ($400-500).. Even though not much of an overclock with the stock Asus program, would you still say it's worth having over the Q9000 if the price was right?

If your thinking about buying a W90 then yeah i would opt for the Qx9300 but at this time i could not nor would not recommend the W90 unless you were getting a super deal on it... 512 megs of VRAM is just not enough for 1920x1080 when looking at the future for gaming and even when it was new it was still somewhat of a bottleneck in things like Fallout 3 or Oblivion GTA4 etc...
