Sorry... I won't keep talking about the W90.. Just want to know what would be considered a super deal for a W90VP-A1 w/BD 2nd HD.. Also, I thought having two 512MB cards was equal to having one with 1,024MB?

    The VRAM doesn't stack

so you have 1 gb but you don't actually use both cards

Oh, my mistake. I must have subbed to the wrong thread -_-

Seriously, this seems like the wrong thread to be discussing components in the W90.

c'mon...someone needs to get some leaked numbers or new information on this. I am going to have to buy a new gadget just to tide me over.

(on that note: I need an electronic organizer ala PDA, I would love a Smartphone, but since I am anti-data plan that is not going to work...any ideas on best ones, a place to research an item like this? or does anyone have something like this they could recommend? I would love Wifi, browsing capability, etc...but the primary attribute has to be calendar syncing with Outlook via cord or black magic)

    /end hi-jack

I suppose you are right. I guess it frustrates me because I am trying to make a tough decision on whether to swap out my 8760 for the G73 or not. Everytime I look in the thread to see if there is any news, or more opinions, it seems there are just posts that are way off topic.

Well, in my opinion then the best thing to do would to be to wait till someone has one of these and posts a detailed review....other than that its all speculation.

I love how the wait brings out the animal in people. If there is no new news to feed the animal it begins to bite at anything. LOL.

Anyway this is a G73 question. I'm really interested in the G73 from what I have read but I really just want a gaming notebook that can play DA:O at high settings. Would I be safe to assume the G72 could do this? Or if anyone else can suggest one around the going price of the G73. Thanks. I'm not sure I have the strength to hold out til mid Feb.....yes I'm weak.

Just my opinion, but if there is nothing to talk about regarding the G73, then why post off topic clutter in the G73 thread?

Surely there is plenty to discuss regarding this machine.

I agree that we are off the G73 topic, yet on topic about the G73 thread. I don't want to stir up a huge argument. My point was that there is a W90 thread that I am not subscribed to because I am not interested in information regarding the W90.
I'm done with it, because there is nothing I can do except voice my opinion. So, I will just keep an eye on the thread and hope that everytime my CP tells me there is a new post, that it is not off topic about another machine. I won't hold my breath though.

Would it be on-topic to ask why you are considering the G73 when you have a NP8760. Is it the 5870 you want?

I think you may be getting a little worked up about this....just check the thread. If it looks OT, leave and check again later.

At least they are talking about and Asus system an not an Alienware one this time lol

Its the combination of two HDD, a 5870, and the money I could save that are making me consider the swap. I have about 10 more days to decide.

Believe me when I say, I am not worked up at all. I just wanted to state what I was observing. Seriously, "I'm calmer than you are", lol. If anybody has seen that, you know what I am referencing.

It's going to be hard to make that decision in 10 days. Hopefully a reseller can get one in their hands before then.

Well judging by rumors, perhaps we get some new info by the end of the week seeing as I've heard the date Jan 28th floating around. At the very least by the end of next week...

That's what I keep telling myself to keep sane. I have never purchased a serious gaming rig, my current laptop is sporting a GMA 950 and has a failing lcd inverter :(

might as well get the latest Generation. If you are going to use it for videos and such then get the 32 or 64gb

    I have had gen 1 16 gb, and gen 2 and 3 32 gb

I like the latest one most so far :) (and it will supposedly get fm radio capabilities soon)

+1. Very nice find. Confirms where Mackloon's 3d mark score came from.
Things look manageable in the cooling department.
Also the part where ASUS assures them that the drivers aren't final leaves even more room for improvement in the graphics department.
    Things are looking up....waiting...waiting....customs...waiting...

I was just gonna comment about that lol This makes me excited, and relieved at the same time, to know that they are taking this much effort in getting things right b4 initial launch. I have been an Nvidia user, but friends of mine used to scream about bad ATI drivers messing things up for them. This article made me happy :D

Lol a bit of a translating failure

The cooling concept invented, the Asus for the G73, it is constructed so that all parts hitzeentwickelnden be shifted to the back of the notebook and thus falls outside the palm rest and the keyboard is nice and cool. Die Luft wird durch die Tastatur und die Vorderseite angesaugt und Y-förmig aufgeteilt. The air is sucked through the keyboard and the front and Y-shaped split. Große Lüfter an der Rückseite leiten die Wärme nach außen. Big fan at the rear of conduct heat to the outside.

Ok when you see the german texts you see they just mean: heat developing parts. Just to make sure everybody would understand.

+1 rep for the find. This makes me doubt wether to buy a cheap low performing 13 inch laptop again, especialy after they say the cooling is good. But I didn't find any exact temperatures.

sweet, 12872 3dmarks without normal drivers and without overclocking???

Thats fast, really fast. I wonder what would happen if you gave the card a 25 percent overclock and using a cooling pad?

Do you think this laptop will run crysis WH at 60 fps at 1440x900 rez??

edit from my research the hd 5870 is 1.262 times faster than the 260m gtx. So for an estimate id neeed benchmarks with the 260m :)

crysis dx10 no aa VERYHIGH at 1280x1024 in twin turbo mode

    avg fps=17.668

and im sure with a decent overclock that could get up to 22 fps avg

I thought so too, apparently some are the kings of run-on sentences "down under" lol I'm glad you all are getting a laugh from it, as I nearly spit my coffee out this morning reading some of it. Wait till you get to the part where Muffinman is getting upset at someone who attempts to correct his bad english XD It makes me wonder if some just either don't care, or if they get so excited their fingertips just keep typing every random thought at one time :)

English isn't my native language and I'm having a horrible time reading what that guy is saying. I don't think its "bad" english, more like its a butchered use of the 26 letters of the alphabet...

There's no news regarding any 5970s or anything better than the 5870 from ATI themselves. If anything, you "can" wait for GTX 360 and GTX 380 from nvidia, but I doubt they'll show up anytime soon (in mobile versions)

Ok forget notebook coolers. We can always strap big fans to our chest. Sort of Flavor Flav style but instead of a big clock it'll be a box fan.

The way I see it, I believe this is the best ATI mobility card out to date. Ofcourse there will always be something bigger on the horizon, but everything I have seen points to this card. It is also the biggest release for desktops atm aswell, according to an article in PCGamer #196 (Jan 2010), where they compare the 3 new ATI cards. A follow pic is showing the benchmarks for them, but I don't know how it will translate over to the mobile versions. I added just to get an idea of what ATI is up to :)

Argh, the european prices seem terrible. When I look at the dutch online stores, the price circles aound 1900€ !!!
First I expected 1500, then it went up to about 1700, and now 1900..
Perhaps the price will drop like with the g6* series (dropped like 400-500 euros in just a few months, and eys, i'm talking about the corei7 model) once they will anounce an even newer product...
I don't mind having something that doesn't have the best hardware on the market. I'd even setlle for the current asus g5 or g6 series if they didn't overheat (they circle around 1100€ here).
Am I the only one disapointed with the price here?

Have you checked out how much it's going to cost you to ship from the States? It might be cheaper than what you're paying over there.
