Due to a windows update my lappy finally recognised the wireless card again but guess what. As soon as i enter windows my pc freezes. And i have to replugin the power cable. What am i supposed to do? I am really confused
-
Im just curious, does the G73 shut itself down due to overheating ONLY if the core reaches 114C or does that apply to the mem temps also
cause I max at 85 on core and 100 in mem temps in MW2 on high -

Hey, where can I find the latest driver for the Atheros AR9285 wireless card? I am experiencing some issues with WLAN, but I'm not sure if it is the card itself, or if there is some kind of problem with my router or isp. So hopefully I can rule out the computer if I find a new driver. Thanks!

Just wanted to post something quickly, I had alot of screen tearing in some games, Examples would be mass effect and Stalker in particular, If you get rivatuner and use d3doverdrive it for sure gets rid of any screen tearing. I havent seent any real drop in my frame rates, my games are still playble and not not laggy and sluggish but I havent looked deep into this yet. But just a heads up if anyone else on here is getting lots of screen tearing on their G73jh. Everyones been sayings thats the norm for pcs, but it kills my eyes im use to having smooth graphics like on the ps3 ( excepts Battlefield and assassins creed... ugh ) .

On the support page, go to Notebooks...Drivers...WLAN (WIFI gives you Intel's drivers)
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb...ve/WLAN_Azurewave_Win7_32_Win7_64_z900222.zip -
Thanks! Now, do I need to uninstall anything before I install this package, or is it safe to run the setup-file as is? Don't want to screw this up, and not be able to go online to troubleshoot
-
I would uninstall the old ones first.
-
Hmm, weird, I can't seem to find any drivers from Atheros on the "Uninstall a program"-thing. Only drivers from Broadcom(which looks to be bluetooth-drivers). And I'm definetly on a WLAN as we type. Couldn't find anything from Atheros or Azurewave in the program or system-folders either.
Edit: Well, I installed the driver provided, but it didn't help much. But then I realized that maybe the fact that I uninstalled P4G a few weeks ago maybe had something to do with lowered performance. I did remember that one of the options were to set wireless to "maximum performance". And I don't know how the power-settings in windows power-management deal with it. Do any of you? So anyway, I installed it again, and so far the performance of the wireless has been better while watching a live football-match(soccer). Yay! -
My mouse (asus mouse) is messed up! Whenever windows start, the sensitivity isn't what I manually adjusted using the software, I had to open the mouse program before it starts to become normal again... everything's fine even after i close the program.. i just have to open it first.. any tips plssss?
-
Get the latest mouse software for it?
-
it's the latest, got it off asus support site
-
I wasnt doing anything.. how did my wallpaper change by itself?
-
You probably have slideshow/shuffle on in your wallpaper settings. Right click on the desktop, go to Personalize and check your settings.
If it's off but still rotating, uninstall and reinstall Power4Gear as it's been known to mess with the wallpaper settings. -
Help please!
Cod MW2 just froze after playing for an hour maybe? The screen was frozen and the same sound effect kept repeating!
Im on latest vbios (Gary's), bios211,realtek updated, cat 10.8 -

I am looking at CPUZ while typing this and i am wondering if a CPU fluctuations are a problem. Every second or so, my CPU jumps from 992MHz x 7 to lke 1400 x11 to 2800 x20. Is that the intel turbo boost software messing up or is that supposed to happen?
-
that's normal for TurboBoost

I got my notebook about 3 weeks ago, its working fine, no freezing or lockups, the games Assassin's Creed 2, Bioshock 2, Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect 1 & 2, Supreme Commander 2, Far Cry 2, GTA Episodes From Liberty City, and Starcraft II run as silk without any interruption.
Even classic old games like Diablo 2, Bully Scholarship Edition, and Psychonauts run perfectly.
All of these use DirectX for rendering, however I cannot run OpenGL games: KotOR displays a black screen and then returns me to desktop with the program in the taskbar and unable to play it; Scratches, an indie game and one of the least demanding ones is even worse: I get the BSOD everytime I try to run it. I have not yet tried any game that uses the Quake 3 or Doom 3 engines, like Quake 4 or Prey but I'm guessing it will be the same thing.
As a bit of history, as soon as I got my notebook I uninstalled the factory drivers and downloaded ATI Catalyst 10.8 and started using it until I first got the BSOD with Scratches, then I uninstalled and downloaded the VGA drivers from the Asus website but I still got the BSOD, then I tried another OpenGL game (KotOR) thinking that it could be the other game's fault, but I ran into the other problem mentioned.
Anyone else ran into these problems and/or knows how to fix them?
Thanks.
UPDATE: I installed Doom 3 and it ran fine after I patched it, and there were no problems with modifying the config file for supporting widescreen. -
-
When browsing through the internet I came across this:
Mobility 5870 Opengl Crash - Rage3D Discussion Area
I tried it the solution but no luck with Scratches or KotOR. That's why I'm asking if anybody has any of these games or old OpenGL games like Quake 3 or even American McGee Alice.
I reinstalled Catalyst 10.8 using the method on the link above, and I have this:
Driver Packaging Version 8.762-100803a-103697C-ATI
Catalyst Version 10.8
Provider ATI Technologies Inc.
2D Driver Version 8.01.01.1059
2D Driver File Path /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/CLASS/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0000
Direct3D Version 8.14.10.0775
OpenGL Version 6.14.10.10151
Catalyst Control Center Version 2010.0803.2125.36577 -
Update the bios 211 and vBios then you should not have any bsod problems atis catalyst. Or If you want to revert back to stock drivers you must reinstall OS. Otherwise it wont work and you could still get bsod even reinstalling stock drivers. -
ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Forum- Keyboard Lag - FIXED!!
It can't be something this crazy can it?
Cheers, -
If you look at the ribbon really closely, you'll see that where the connector bites it, it is making good contact. Further down that thread people were posting that it worked well for a week and then they had to "do it again". It's not because the ribbon cable oxidized again. It's because that's not the problem with the laptop. That's just my opinion. YMMV -
Thanks for the feedback.
Cheers, -
Assuming us adventurous sorts have a keyboard lag issue.
-
That's right, I believe you had a keyboard mishap when you repasted so such a decent would have been noticed at that time.
Cheers, -
For what its worth, I suspect a link between those who did fresh installs and the keyboard issue.
Some sort of missing ghost in the machine that makes the keyboard mysteriously work for those who left it as they came from the factory. -
Mine already didnt work properly with the factory install when i received it...
And i tried doing a factory install again later and it didnt help.
Perhaps youre willing to try to confirm it if youve got a spare HD laying around.
And scraping that black goo off the contacts is a bad idea... it doesnt help and some users have ruined their ribbon cable and had to buy a new keyboard becouse of it (and buying one from Asus isnt cheap). -
-
There doesn't seem to be any single common factor that links the keyboard lag. -
Im struggling to close programs that freeze, winrar is giving me especially alot of trouble often freezing as soon as I open it. However the main problem is that Im unable to force quit applications, even ending the process does not seem to work. Any solution to this? I assumed it was the general freezing problem and downloaded Realtek driver but that doesn't seem to have worked. Please help me.
-EDIT-
Scratch that, it seems to have worked whilst typing this. Though even still, it does it VERY slow and Im not sure if its entirely fixed.. should it be so slow? >.> -

Hello everyone;
So I got my awesome Asus G73JH yesterday and everything runs fine until I decided to update the audio driver "Realtek".
The install seemed fine and as if everything was working fine; I found out it wasn't quite so and now 2 things are wrong:
-Realtek has disappeared
-Volume Panel ATI HDMI Audio shows the message "There are no supported audio device available. You need to close the application. Click OK to close the application."
I do not claim myself to be an expert but I think I'm rather advanced in computers however I cannot pin this down and it's very annoying.
Kind regards
ps. Oh yes also now when I right click on speakers icon to go to "sound" panel of windows; it shows me I have to different types of speakers available and one of these sounds rather strange while the other sounds fine. -
I was complaining of random freezes while running MW2 earlier and Chasity suggested for me to turn off all effects in the creative application. It works! Problem solved!
but now I gotta bear with the no-bass-boost!
On the happier note, it's day 6 with the G73JH-A2 and I have yet to experience any KB lag! On 211 Bios, Gary's vBios, Cat 10.8 and updated realtek driver here. -
My issue with the voodoodna mouse hasn't been resolved yet though, everytime I boot windows, I still have to manually start the mouse app before the mouse detects its customized settings. Had already tried reinstalling. I'm that close to perfection (short of getting bass boost to work in mw2 and getting the mouse to behave), I would be grateful if anyone could help.
Thanks Chasity =) -

Hi Khaldum, thanks for the reply.
Could you please give specific instructions on how do I go about with that? I admit I'm not exactly proficient =X the program's installed in c drive now -
Thank you Khaldum, just did as you say.. yet to test it though..
Another problem, please please please help me on this one.. I customized the asus mouse button 5 and 4 to numpad 7 and 8.. it works great when im in windows, say on a text field of IE or notepad.. but when i tab back into dota (warcraft 3), it doesnt work
please help!
Edit: I realised that the mapped numpad 7 and 8 don't work on garena too... -
-
Thanks Chastity, I did that yesterday right after writing that post.
It's working very good now.
Thanks =) -
Got my first ever crash, having had my G73JH for three days.
Updated to 10.8 video card drivers yesterday, and tried to play a game on it for the first time today.
Crashed a few minutes into Battlefield Bad Company 2 single player campaign.
Edit: I can now also add that performance in Starcraft 2 has been decreased immensely since installing 10.8, and Mass Effect 2 also seems to have suffered a bit.
So if anyone can point me towards older versions of the ATI mobility radeon 5870 drivers for win7 64bit, that'd be nice...
My computer:
CPU: i7-720QM
Graphics Card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 ; VRAM:1GB
RAM: 6GB
OS: Win7 Ultimate 64bit
HDD: 500 GB Hybrid Hard Drive (4GB Flash) - Serial ATA-150 - 7200 opm
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1044
Additional information about the problem:
BCCode: 116
BCP1: FFFFFA800C71A4E0
BCP2: FFFFF88003F92DCC
BCP3: 0000000000000000
BCP4: 0000000000000002
OS Version: 6_1_7600
Service Pack: 0_0
Product: 256_1
I hope it's nothing too serious, and that reverting back to a previous ATI driver is the solution. Put all my money into this. -

I just experienced some grey screens with vertical stripes while ingame in WOW, wondering if that's a symptom of the same issue? Or should I be even more worried?
