99% of movies are 24Frame
Camcorders usually 25 for pal and 30 for USA
Consoles are 30/60
PC usually capped at 60
Online media "youtube etc" capped at 30 mostly
Yet anyone who is not totally mentally handicapped can tell the different between 30 and 60 even if they had sight issues, 120hz or 80/90 is much smoother than 60hz specially after you get used to it, 60 wont feel slow but it wont feel smooth at all.
But again we still have people who still insist that there is no different between DVD and bluray movies at all even if they watch them on 1920x1080p TV -

What I did find out through that testing is, even the slightest fingerprint or smudge on a Blu-ray disc can cause problems with the playback. This was not the case with the DVD disc. Smudges and fingerprints on a DVD aren't much of a problem on DVD, but definitely a problem with Blu-ray.

But anyways, I'm glad now this thread has this cleared up! -
-
Getting back to the more important topic, has any one heard word from either nvidia or asus as to possible release dates? I'm dying over here with my 4 year old centrino based laptop. I unfortunately can't use a laptop that has an ATI card in it since I use Avid editing software that tends to crash on ATI and works best with nvidia.
-
now that we've spent a whole page on the wonders of the human eye and higher hz screens - back to the mass hysteria and speculation on G53!
-
More and more sites are popping up with preorders for these laptops, so I'm thinking we might be close to an announcement from nvidia, or asus, or preferably both. Maybe our prayers will be answered. I don't expect a release anytime soon, but some official information about it would sure do some good. I'm actually surprised that nvidia and asus are missing out on the back to school laptop sales.
-
And Why people are still talking about the G53 preorders? no one got the official specs yet, just wait and see instead of repeating everything in every page about websites listing it for preorders -
-
im not waiting.. esp after the g73 clusterphk im hesitant to purchase asus right now. the MSI GX 660r is what i think ill get.
im kind of sad cause i really wanted to get a asus but all the logic in my brain is telling me to get something else. and the MSI seems to be the best Bang for your buck
wish it had widi though -
-
alright! anyone on news about the 460m?? It seems like that news has to come out first before g73 can be pre ordered!
-
Yeh, I'm guessing Nvidia is the reason that these things are delayed. I checked out the MSI 660, but I dunno, I just didn't like it as much as the g73jw.

I was looking at the MSI GX660R and... I don't know. It's got awesome features, but I don't like the looks as much. (Plus I'm more comfortable with the ins and outs of nVidia GPUs; I've never used ATI before). God, I was deadset on the G53 until a email from Ken showed up in my mailbox one day.
DAMN YOU KEN. DAMN YOUUUUUU! -
-
SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
Hmm, when is the MSI's release date?
-
-
SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
It was a link to the MSI GX660R video review.
-
Oh, lol, his email he sent me was the ETA of the G73jw, which is early October, end of septembre. I thought you were talking about the asus laptops. The msi 660 is out anyways. What did the video review say, was the 660 good or not?

Same CPU options. Radeon 5870 (I'm personally more comfortable with nVidia drivers, tweaks, and vBIOS, but hey, I can learn). Dual HDD bays which support RAID 0 (only). Two USB3.0, eSata/USB combo port, card reader, expansion slot, 3.5mm line in/out. Blu Ray standard (You can knock off like $99 by going to DVDRW). CPU overclocking, fan control, light control, and power settings quick buttons. Speakers are supposed to be way awesome. Full HD screen. Easy access to CPU/GPU. One fan only, but it apparently exhausts in two directions, and temps seem to be good. The lights can be set to pulse with any music you're playing, which would appeal to some people (Or they can be set to off).
The only niggle I have with it is that it doesn't look as sleek'n'sexy as the G53. It has a glossy palmrest, non-backlit keyboard, and a glossy back shell. And, as I mentioned, only one fan. The GPU temperature isn't bad, but the CPUs seem high to me. Then again, I'm unfamiliar with i7 operating temperatures. -

Well, I'm getting an Asus eee, so if I get an MSI I won't be completely abandoning Asus. It'll be like me having dual citizenship!
-
Damn the only thing I don't like about the 660 is the look. I wish I could have a laptop that looks like a clean slab of manly steel. That or the G53 was actually made of the same material and color as a stealth bomber. Oh man orgasmic.
-
Just came in to say good morning! I now check this thread 3 times a day or more! sooooo, how is every one doing?
and now continue carry on with the mass hysteria on g73 -
Lol, the 660 does looks good... But I guess I'll hold the course and wait for the G73jw; I just like the design better I guess. And I too am more comfortable with nvidia.
-
-
That it does. Altough, I'm not convinced on the looks. Same here, I'm waiting on the official specs of the G73jw

I hope you guys can wait, it might be a month or 2 till we can get our hands on one.

Hey guys im new to tis forum. I currlenty have an asus g73jh-a2. Its the third day i had it and i hate it. the g card is horrible. Its probably borken or something but on all dark colors you can see pixels and stuff. This is the second laptop i had with a broken ati card in it. It cant play gta does horrible on other benchmarks. Now i have decided to wait for the new g73 or the g53. I trust nvidia because the first computer i had was a nvidia and ran gta perfect and now dark color problem. I believe that asus will run better with these new nvidia cards because they been having so much problems with the ati cards. Thats wat leads me back to waiting for a g53. Asus is trying to make their computers better with less driver problems and stuff so i guess they switched to nvidia. DO you guys think that is a good move? and does any1 have a time when specs are going to be releases on the g73jw and g53? I plan on sending back my curent g73. I just trust nvidia over ati now.
-
The ati drivers have been a big issue for the G73jh, so it may be a wise move. I also prefer nvidia over, as I never had any problems with nvidia, or there drivers. There are many speculative specs for the G73jw, but we don't know the official specs. Alto, from what I've seen, the speculative specs are the most probable. There is no Official release for this laptop, but it is widely believed, and is highly possible, that it will be released in late September, early October. There isn't any official statements about these laptops, exept the statements at computex in June, and a few sites posting it for preorder, but public it off immediately, waitin for the official release of the 460m from nvidia. So the release of the G73jw, will most likely follow that of the 460m.

The problem is not with ATI 5870's just ASUS made 5870's, probably used subpar hardware to save some money. And what's up with the reverse MXM GPU's used by ASUS, it makes them extremely difficult to upgrade yourself if you want.
-
-
Sorry my mistake.I corrected the above post .
Asus manufactures there own GPU's to ATI specs.
ATI manufactured 5870's are better.
Asus G53, the smaller version of the G73jh
