That's not bad if it was in September, it's been one month so far.

I think cellphones is the only tech that is not pre-ordered months from before.

The Nvidia video showing the G53-3D is here:

    http://www.youtube.com/user/nvidia#p/u/12/RpfywgSjauI

I tried doing a search of this thread to show where several people stated that the 3D version isn't coming out until November, but my laptop keeps crashing. Just one of the many reasons why I'm looking forward to upgrading. Plus you have to keep in mind that all of these "release dates" are purely speculation. Asus hasn't officially announced the release date of any version of the G53 yet. We're all hoping that the non-3D version comes out next week, but Asus could always push it further back again like they have been doing for the past month or so.

Although we just added our gallery on our website, the first pics we posted of this mod were posted back on 9/15, I think Ken added it shortly after our post.

It's true, I've been waiting for weeks to see pictures of examples. Gentech had pictures up first, but XoticPC announced the mod earlier. :)

That being said, I don't know if I'm going to go with the LED mod now. My netbook cracked a little at the power jack and the cord won't stay plugged in unless I hold it/tape it there and I really don't want to add more time on my wait list. Hey Justin, how much time would it take, worst case scenerio, for a rainbow mod? :D

And does anyone have any recommendations for some quick fixes?

And then, there is the tiny chance it will come out a few days earlier, rather than later. :p

I was thinking of doing a color mod, but seeing the nvidia video, seems the rest of the buttons on the laptop are white as well, and the led under the monitor either is turned off or was removed in the g53.

Black and white fits well anyway.

Asus has been giving a secret batch of our G53JW's to Nvidia.

    Those jerks! :p

Agreed, though, it looks AMAZING! (even though I prefer the non-3D version)

Does Asus ever offer coupons or anything special in terms of savings? Or is that all through the resellers?

ASUS does offer Mail in Rebates from time to time, but only for certain models.

Don't expect a Mail in Rebates for the Republic of Gamers series laptops though.

Actually Asus offered a $100 off mail in rebate for the G51jx over the last couple months, but that offer ended on 9/30.

I think Asus' prices are pretty fair, Alienware (or dell in general) and Lenovo are quite the problem when it comes to prices. You must rely on these coupons to really make the prices competitive.

If you want a great laptop for under a 1k, lenovo is your way, it's even 3d (uses polorized 3d)

You can get 20% coupons from Dell pretty easily, plus you can haggle with their reps. If you are good at it you can get them to do 30% with a combo of coupons + haggling.

There are no stupid questions, there are no stupid questions, THERE ARE NO STUPID QUESTIONS!.

The laptop is always in 2D, only specific applications, videos and games are 3d, thats when the 3d mode starts working.

I'm just kidding BruiZr, welcome to the forum.

If you arn't thinking of getting it right away, I'm pretty sure I'm going to post a review about it, so you can read that. Seems to me there arn't many talking about the 3d version of the g53.

Also, not sure if I was reading this or a ps3 thread, but has this been rescheduled to ship, or was it Gran Turismo 5 that was rescheduled/delayed? Dont remember. Maybe it was both?? DAMN

Yeah GT5 is coming "this holiday season" w.e that means.

I feel that when they are ready to release it, they will say EXACTLY the day they will, otherwise we are just wasting our time thinking its coming in 6 or 7 days.

Will the 4GB of ram on the XR1 model from NCIX be enough for a gaming laptop and desktop replacement? I don't mind losing out on a bit of space, external HDDs fix that and I don't really feel the need for a blu-ray drive, but I'm uncertain if I'd need the extra 2GB of ram.

Of course anything will be a big improvement over my desktop running on a single core Athlon64, 1GB of DDR2 ram and a Radeon x1550, but I'd like to be able to play upcoming games.

2,691 posts about a laptop that no one has yet? Wow. Talk about anticipation! This laptop better be fantastic to live up to the expectations. Judging from the posts in the G73JW owners' thread, it should be, unless the smaller form-factor causes some heat problems.

I don't think there's an unusual level of hype - we pretty much know what to expect given what we know about the JW. I'm interested to see what screen they use in the 15 inch version, and how the cooling does (as you noted) but I would be surprised if either turned out to be bad.

I think the post count is the result of this thread being open for almost 5 months prior to the units shipping - there was a lot of speculation about what video card would be in it, the base stats, dimensions, etc since we didn't get the final specs until recently.

I've been looking around for a good gaming laptop for months and I'm pretty much sold on the G53JW (not the 3D one). I'm looking forward to reading some owner's reviews. All it will take is a few raves about this model by actual owners and I'll be whipping out the credit card, I'm sure.

I just saw on amazon that they are now offering the ASUS G73JW-XA1 for $1,449. The only difference that I can see between this and the G73JW-A1 is the fact that the A1 has a blu-ray drive and 1TB of storage while the XA1 has a regular multi drive and 750gb of storage. For $330 less this is something I'd seriously consider. Does anyone know what other differences exist?

On other note, a video of the 53, in another language and specs are a lil weird but looks the same

I'd be willing to live with most of these trade offs, but looking at the size of the G73 still has me turned off. I guess I'll still wait for the G53. Assuming everything goes as scheduled we have a week left.
