Asus G53, the smaller version of the G73jh

If you want to do it, go for it. I do not think a Wiki that encourages self service and guaranteeing voiding your warranty is a great idea myself. I see a few threads about dust and fan cleaning, but I ignore those. There is no direct air intake where dust would be pulled in for G73, the vents are for passive air cooling, away from the fans in the rear.

You are NOT supposed to be taking apart your G73/G53 for dust etc. BTOTech, a reseller clearly states, blast air through radiator only. Self-service not an option. Don't take it apart for cleaning.

 

Like Ruckus said I am not using Fraps to capture the video, I load Fraps just to display FPS, so what you see the FPS on the video is what you get.

I tried Fraps once to capture video just to test but it drop frame rates in half so I don't use it.

LOL, that was an accident, I was watching the recording and didn't pay attention.

The reason I was aiming for the Razer one was because it connects wirelessly via bluetooth, and there's no USB dongle to take up my USB ports.

 

Again, whats more important is that you get a mouse that fits your grip, otherwise you will end up with cramped hands:

I'm one of the few that uses fingertip grip exclusively - meaning there are a lot of mice out there that get crossed of the list automatically because they don't work with the way I like to use the mouse. I need a mini-mouse setup with a low arch in the back.

Though that Roccat looks kickass!

I wish I could come into this thread with better news. Just got off the phone with ASUS and the G53JW-A1 Shipment, that was originally expected tomorrow, has been delayed until 11/8 and the next shipment after that was also pushed back until December 8th. The December 8th shipment is expected to be a large shipment while the shipment on 11/8 is still going to be smaller.

Sorry to let those of you that are waiting down....

 

Ah, no wonder i switched to the NP8690, i am fed up with the delay, seriously.

And, that laptop is at least looks like a normal laptop, while the G53 will attract attention, especially in classrooms.

 

They dont seem all that expensive here.

Its ok, I believe in not killing the messenger. Unless I'm watching 300, which then killing the messenger is pretty awesome.
Anyways is the shipment on 11/8 going to be as small as the first shipment or at least a little bigger?


and I agree with Metallic, the G53 looks pretty awesome from just the pictures without having a bunch of the typical lights found in gaming laptops. It looks like it can be used in both professional and general settings, catching attention of course, but not screaming "Hey! I'm an obnoxious gaming laptop" (ie: the design on the g51 explains what I am trying to say, no offense to owners of it, its not amazingly bad...just not for me). Just my opinion.

 

So what? Who doesn't like having a BA laptop? Wouldn't you like a Camaro or M3? But the delays, you do have a point there, those are something to gripe about.

BTW, slightly envious of that design, G53 owners...

 

i personally think the g73 or g53 looks like a toy due to it's large vents behind and rubberized surface (which is a good thing, no fingerprints yay). Sure it'll turn heads when i pull my g73 out, but mainly because of it's size (its huuge..) not because of its looks lol.

 

So this will affect all reseller right? So if I order in Nov 30, would it be included in Dec 8th shipment? or do I still need to wait for the next one?

Primarily, macs attracts more attention specially the new mac airs.

 

If you wait for November 30th to place your order the chances are the December 8th shipment will probably already be sold out.

Sadly, you just have to get your orders placed and wait patiently in line for your order's turn to come up. It will most likely stay that way well into 2011.

 

OMG! don't get the Kabuto mouse mat... it's terrible!!! My logitech mouse is jumping around when I use it!

I was reviewing the Orochi mouse live (so real time opinions, not well thought out...) and it was a bad idea... it doesn't even connect to my Laptop! I have a usb bluetooth (its the g50 best buy version) so it wouldn't connect...

ugh... this was a real letdown.

The mouse is tiny TINY I'll provide pics soon.

Unfortunately if ASUS does not get them, nobody gets them. I would suggest getting your order in ASAP as even if you order now most places will not be able to fulfill the order until the 12/8 shipment. (We can always postpone payment or shipment also to fit your need by date)

.... well I was planning on using this laptop to open VMwares on the go. Looks like I have to hole myself on campus just to have access to the workstation to work with them now, and talking about competing with other classes for those workstations...

 

What are the vertical viewing angles on the G53JW like? I've been waiting for a first-hand report before ordering. I'd love to see pictures.

And how do they compare with similar laptops or with the G73?

My whole intel and ati thing is completely based on a fermi estimate... So I really can't say when they will come out, but look back at the history of ati and how long it takes to create a mobile version.

 

^ well it seems they have a pattern of announcing the mobile versions at CES in January and release them in Feb or March. Didn't the G73 arrive in the states in Feb with the 5870m? So they can't be that far off

 

When you finish your review put it under your sig so people can still look at it.

Sandy Bridge are expected to be release maybe Dec or Early next year so having it on a Mobile will really take a while. Agree Ati seems to lagged behind Nvidia on Mobile dept.(Specially on drivers)

 

Yeah March sounds about right for the ati... 6 months.

It's the Sandy Bridge that I feel won't make it... Intel is a b when it comes to processors, if they feel the generation is still doing well... they will delay their next generation. and seeing asus, xps, and envy as well as others are still releasing products with the i7... SB might be longer than we think.

Yeah I dunno why Voodooi didn't do it... it's like the most obvious thing to do after you make a review.
