You need the p4g hybrid and the ATK hotkey stuff installed, IIRC.
Your Turbo button doesn't show a large graphic on screen when pressed?
-
-
Nope......
-
Wow.
Sendspace is like using dial-up.
Slow frackin downloads, FTW!
I am on pace to grow a nice, long beard before this thing completes
lol
-
Not sure what to say drake.
After my clean install I pretty much installed everything except bloat. -
Use the megaupload link. It downloaded at 1 MB a sec!
Also, I installed them and verified the driver changed versions. No hacking the C7 inf file and it is working fine! -
Sweet... Hopefully there's some performance increase associated with them. Kind of looked like there was from that linked forum.
-
Yes it looks like it picks up the card right away.
-
Drake,
Is it possible that the 920xm has disabled that button for some reason because of multipliers you have set in the bios etc.? -
I didn't have power4gear hybrid installed, only the extreme. I'm trying the hybrid now.
Edit: It worked with Power4gear hybrid. -
grrrrr....it raised my BCLK from 133 to 142 and now my system is completely unstable. Unless of course it's the new ATI driver.
Am I the only one having issues? Must be cause I crash in safe mode aslo. -
Downloading the drivers at work, hooray!
-
what a touchy little chip.... If this asus had some OC features and raid support id be all over it!
-
It's just you. haha. The power4gear "turbo" button above the keyboard + 920xm + overclocking = doom!
Uninstall P4G asap! -
I couldn't uninstall it because I could not get into Windows or Safe Mode. I tried resetting by bios...NOTHING! The I forgot about the fact that my system dual boots so I loaded my other OS and without P4G being installed it some how reset the hardware. I now boot fine......this is going to be fun.
-
Ack! P4G FTL!
-
I think this proved my turbo mode theory.
-
Yep, I set my turbo mode multi's to 26, put a load on the CPU and everything was fine. CPU hit 70C. I bumped my bclk to 142 via Asus Twin Turbo and my system stayed stable....sort of my cpu hit 95C and I shut it off.
This is going to be real fun once I find the point of stability/temp control. -
How do you adjust TwinTurbo settings?
All it does for me is either on or off. lol -
I think that's all its doing for him, too... 133=off, 142=on.
-
I wonder what it does for non-extreme cpu's.
-
It makes me unhappy is what it does. With the GPU 800/1100 + Turbo mode for long period equals forced shut down.
OC GPU without Turbo equals endless fun.
-
Yeah, but I never noticed it do anything for my GPU clocks. I monitored them while playing with TT and didn't see anything.
-
I'm probably totally wrong on this, but I think it does the same thing for extreme or now... It's just the multipliers are different for the different processors.
133*12 is about 1.6Ghz, and 142*12 is about 1.7Ghz. -
So you see why I say this is going to be fun?
I should be able to hit 3.8Ghz+ on all four cores if I can keep it cool enough. -
Yeah... 142*26 = a lot.
-
I can get the multi to 27 when booting.
Now someone needs to reverse engineer the twin turbo program because it can change the BCLK within Windows.
-
I wish I was that smart...
-
Coding is not my thing. lol
HATE it with a passion

Quagmire LXIX Have Laptop, Will Travel!
Look back a few pages with my 3 posts regarding my Cinebench runs. It may boost the BCLK, but it isn't doing diddly for us because it cuts off the x13 multiplier. EDIT: until we get to control our i7 turbo multipliers like the extreme edition, Asus TT just retards the 720 operations imo.
I have made a HD video of a London track on Dirt 2 (will upload tonight), I changed views during the race to show how FPS changes with views. I have recorded FPS in a race (chase view) and it's replay (cockpit view) and I will install the 10.3 drivers and do it again (video of race and recording FPS). This should tell me and show all if the 10.3 drivers post a noticeable gain on Dirt 2.
Q -
Man, everytime I start recording an HD movie from Fraps for bad company 2 it drops my FPS down to 15 from 50!?
-
Quagmire LXIX Have Laptop, Will Travel!
Indeed evenson, I gave up trying to do in game recording long ago. I couldn't find anything that didn't impose a huge FPS hit and if you're trying to show the computers best, that's not the way to go.
I use an HD cam and try to get the screen only for games, I know, it's a little cheesy like you mentioned to others, but what can you do.
Q -
It's caused the Asus to overheat when I have the turbo on and the GPU o/c.
Also the beta drivers installed for me very nicely!
-
BIGX333 talked about getting this system and he might be up for it.

cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Some impressive numbers guys, keep up the good work.
Here are some runs with a QX9300 and a single 4870m from my M17x for comparison. Those clocks on the 5870m are just sick though!
3DMark06: 14525
3DMark Vantage: P8754
GPU: 7808
CPU: 13751
Also, what driver are you all using?Attached Files:
-
-
9.12 provided by Asus. I plan on benching with 10.3 later.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
interesting that Asus is providing an up to date driver, wish Dell would
Although hopefully next month neither of us will have to depend on our OEMs -
Do you remember what your stock Vantage CPU score is?
-
The 10.3 drivers install with the 5870, do they with the 4870?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
stock vantage CPU for the QX9300 is around 10600
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dmv=1817462 -
Nice, so 3K on the OC....you'd think I would remember that. It's been a whole 2 months since I've owned a C2D system.
-
So a stock i7-720 beats out the QX9300 in CPU vantage??
-
If you're going to say that then you also have to specify the system.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Very true, since the i7 920xm in the G73 is crushing the 920xm scores from the M17x, something about the BIOS is limiting the AW
-
I am asking.
I have seen 11k scores for 720's and you just noted that a stock QX9300 gets 10,600.
11k > 10,600 -
Quagmire LXIX Have Laptop, Will Travel!
^ It's not just how fast your hands are working, it's how many you have and how efficient they work.
-
It's actually about the same if you look at the bechmarks. Some are higher, some are lower. I want to see babyhemi's clevo numbers again.
-
Comparison between the latest gpus based on synthetic benchmarks is boring. Gaming laptops enjoy most time in games not 3dmarks The one are higher score than the other doesn't mean higher fps in practical games. I hate notebookcheck.net always put dual gpu on the top, but you gain 5%-10% in practical games from single I'd appreciate it if someone posts some fps results that single 5870 beat thoes 280m sli
-
Did you check out Vic's thread? Tons of gaming benchmarks. I even linked it in the first post of this thread.
-
i used to have the ocz whitebook dual 3870s with higher score 3dmark06 and 3dvantage but slower than single 280m in some games
-
I hit over 18K on 3DMark06 with the M17 w/dual 3870s...That was fun.
