17K in 3DMark06 and 10K in Vantage achieved...what's next?

10k on the GPU its only 450 away

Agreed with moo
-
wait...I don't understand something...Moo posted CPUID picture of the W870CU and it showed the ATi 5870 GPU temp without a problem...but why doesn't it show the 5870's temp in the G73JH too? They are not the same?
-
card is different and so it the system. The actual die is the same.
-
3.7 ghz all 4 cores? OmG. 0.o

-
no problem! you know how we do it

cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Did you finish any runs at that Moo?
-
-
stock plus a extra fan under it
But that run doesn't count :/ it wasn't stable since i need a overvolt -
Moo thanks for your review. Loved that you posted the temperatures after gaming. Looks like Asus G73 cooling is spot on. Your temps on Crysis on high settings are actually highers than mine by about 8C.
Performance on Vantage for GPU score is running head to head, the G73 and the Clevo which is nice to know. Your 920XM though is noticably faster on the 3DMark06.
But one thing for sure, you must be loving having all the extra ports that the G73 should have come with. The DVI output would be just awesome along with the e-SATA. Oh well, for $1550 I can't whine too much.
I'm also hoping Asus will be nice enough to use the same MXM proprietary design on a future card so us G73 users can upgrade as I don't see needing to upgrade the CPU for a while. Hehe, I can dream right?
Glad you got your computer though, looks awesome and great review. -
Not true that was stock Paste. My stock paste was horrible I am now at a 15c difference
I will run it again.... The cooling is far superior just look how high i can clock the thing
I will edit this in about 10 mins -
But Moo I'm using stock paste also...
-
But yours was applied correclty
I was going over 90 in furmark in 5 minutes ....
now i max out at 77 after 15 -
But Moo I'm maxing out about 77 also.
My temperatures with the stock paste on Vantage 2 pass overclocked is at 77. I don't use laptop cooler, I don't own one yet. All I did was cut an eraser in half and placed them under the laptop at the rear to allow more air flow underneath. That was it. So while I don't doubt your cooling is better, for the premium price of a Clevo I'd expect that, but it's not shattering the G73 and it wasn't what we were expecting. You have been able to do some modifications to stock settings and I see the potential is great.
I'm not trying to be negative about the Clevo rather I'm now quite happy seeing the temperatures you are getting in comparison to the G73.

I am really getting frustrated trying to get crossfire in XP
Can get a single card just fine.... -
that 91 is your RAM on the GPU and that is not good.... Mine is 77 maxed out on the RAM mid 60's on the core ON FURMARK NOT VANTAGE !
Crysis @ 910 / 1125
70 is my RAM (which runs the Hottest) the other temps were in the mid to low 60's
I dont know if you forgot buti still own one of these and through all my test it was no adequate in cooling the VRAM which led to the death of it after 2 days .... I have studied the machine -
And already another G73 user overclocked his GPU well above 850 Core speed and had highest core temp around 54C. So I know if I want to keep it cooler, there is a simple solution that doesn't require me to open up the laptop.
So I am still very happy with Asus and G73 cooling system. Besides it's whisper quiet.
Also I have a 1 Year STANDARD accidental warranty so if I continue to do this and something happens, I'm not going to sweat it. And still if anything happens, I have a STANDARD 2 year Parts and Labor warranty. After 2 years I plan on replacing the G73 anyways. So I'm covered for whatever happens as far as I'm concerned for 2 years. -
-
Re guarding the warranty .... Mine has been gone little over 2 weeks now ..... still mad.. -

wprime 1.55
super pi
maxxmem
pifast
and you can manually try to enable crossfire...
there are about 20 places in the registry but hard to say which one is active.
so enable them all
Enablecrossfireautolink
search for that in the registry and then change the 0 to a 1
see if this works.
side note...
nah, then everyone would be doing it...lol no vantage for xp.
although there are some fake dx10 files for xp floating around...get them to work..vantage may work...yet to see it done though -
Yeah but now I really wanted to start up with Vantage again.
-
-
now ? 10.3 but i think i will switch to Clevos Stock drivers Ken got the core stable @ 955
with those
I am stuck @ 935 with the Driver crashing ... The GPU can handle more -
you can always run xp at a later date....
told you the 5800 card could do 1000+
-
http://tinypic.com/r/6frw1x/6
There is my full temps for ZIDDY
Running @ 910/1125
Once again i am not knocking it just its not the best ...for the money it is. Just dont poke fun @ my system unless yours can beat it -
Furmark brought my temps to 98C in 4.5 minutes today (10.3 drivers). I don't think I have ever seen temps rise that fast to tell you the truth. I won't be running that test ever again cuz those temps are a little hot for my liking. I have yet to really monitor temps in game.... I play mostly CS source and L4d2, and WoW when school is done (I would fail if my account was active right now).

I am in 64-bit John. The thing is, it does not even show as 2 gpus (crossfire available). Just shows the 2 as if there is no bridge between them
Still have stuff I want to try. They will only load using the have disk method as well -
just as long as you can see two gpus. if so..then set the auto link..it's suppose to enable crossfire when the software doesn't.
key words...suppose to. -
-
is it artifacting or still clean runs?
-
I moved on to different drivers.
Edit: Also over-volting reduces performance. -
I cannot OV and OC
I tried overclocking by flashing and it shows its the right clocks but the score never changes and GPU clock tool shows stock ...
weird but yea
Also any VBIOS but the stock one will not let me OC. Say "set clock failed" -
Theoretically would there be any issues using these drivers on the g73? -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
should work fine
-
the highest voltage on these cards is 1.15 and you can not go higher than that. it's hard coded on the pcb.
get the card to around 10c and you should be able to get stable -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
would you say that the highest voltage option in the VBIOS is also the limitation of the board John?

opening the panel always helps
Did it on my M17 and my M17x -
When I had it on a blanket crysis was 2 c hotter. ..
Wennt from 95 c down to 93c

, your last few posts have been typed like you're plastered
2C hotter, but went down from 95 to 93
Please take this with the levity that is intended

My phone has no sense of grammar.
OK I played on my bed with it in my lap. I checked the tens and saw 95 I was like huh.
So I went to the desk exited out and let it cool down then ran it again and got 93
All my sensors were over 90...bad -

meh, I would have been happier if you were drunk because then I could live a little through you while I was at work
I got ya, more proof in the pudding as the cliche goes, bottom slots are important for both mem's. -

No v control on the clevis side
Locked at 1.15 -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Well in RBE you can manually enter values into that field instead of using the dropdown, no clue if they actually will happen though (at least this is the case for my 4870s)
-
When I edit anything in there it won't let me ovrrclock anymore
"Set clock failed" error. Only the origional can
