Thanks, this has been an internal struggle for me for a few weeks now (since my tax return lol) but it feels good having an outside opinion (and someone who has used more than one SSD)

I will ride it out on the x128 - has been serving me well :)

I'm more interested to see if there is a difference in random writes.

Keep the tax cash for the upgrade to the i7+5870s. ;)

You'll see more of a difference with that. 16K GPU isn't far off.

Given that I got 7800 gpu on a single 4870 with virtually no effort I would say 16k for a pair of 5870s should be pretty easy

Believe me I've considered buying something to hold me over. Hoping I get my G73 back this week or hope at least the 5870s are announced for the M17xR2.

I know this isn't the right place but I'm posting anyway
What's the hold up with AW putting out 5870's?
Every other big gaming laptop maker has them out (Clevo,ASUS to name a few)
I would even like to see a single one in the Mx15, AW losing a lot of cred and sales for not having these out yet.
    Rant over
Now back to the awesome G73
Really tempted to buy the gimped out model from BB but have to check one out with my own eyes,I hear the lower screen res is not to good which would be a deal breaker.

You can always buy mine when it comes back from repair. ;)

Regarding the AW situation it will be an option for the M15x. The latest bios update added support for the ATI cards. The release will happen within the next couple of weeks and possibly as soon as Monday. From what I'm hearing this is causing a lot of stress for the AW engineers to release a product that will not have some of the issues the past AW systems had.

Dual 5870s are coming and when they do you'll see Vantage GPU scores hitting close to 17K when OC'ed and 14K stock.

Mandrake you swap your laptops like it's nothing. :p
    And repair? What you do?
Ever since i got my Clevo 901C i sort of soured on 17" laptops (unless of course the right deal came along ;) )
But 15" are what suites me best for my needs.

With his settings he should be getting a high of around 65 or so and a low of 45 or about. The FPS on the HD5870 is pretty stable, doesn't fluctuate too much.

Check your powersaver settings. As funny as that sounds, make sure you are on entertainment or performance. Once I went from taking notes in school to plugged into game and I was all worried my G73 crapped out - it was because I still had it on battery saver.

actually, UK English does call it math s when referring to the subject. Saying math for both the object and the subject is US English.

    Now...back on topic.

People got to realize more people than just the citizens of the United States use these forums.
For some people English is a second language(like me :))so ease up on members that might spell some things wrong or use them in the wrong sense from what they were intended.
Sometimes things get lost in translation.
Know back to the G73 :p

always jumping on the example...tisk tisk tisk..

    it was a joke!

but yet again...we all jump on the example or joke as if it we're the topic at hand.

i notice this more than i notice the who comes from where and what is considered proper english or not.

    side note:

drake...when you getting your system...hell....any system worth benching..lol
i already benched my 8430 but came up empty...no gold trophies there... :(

I got the monitor because I always wanted to pick up 120hz monitor, the M11x screen is too small and I had a coupon. :p

And still have a month of fun before I even graduate haha

If I was not graduating soon I would have got the M11x absolutely since the size is great for class. But at this point it would just be another toy and harder to justify
