    lol no worries.

but yeah...that 5850 would appear to be an over clocking bandit.

and as of right now. your top gpu for the g73 series laptop

the next score to you was 9340 or something like that.

I know I have a G71 but just to let you guys compare I'll post my bench results up here as well. Once I get rid of my slow HDD and replace it with an SSD as well as get some better RAM, X7800 and stripped windows I should be in the 14,000's. This laptop got 9900 3DMarks totally stock. After some light tuning and OC'ing I achieved 11,525 in a warm room with no additional cooling.

I would upgrade to a G73, but this will probably be my last gaming laptop for a while, next I will be building an AMD Bulldozer/ Crossfire 6870-based desktop rig.

    I know I don't have a G73 but I want to participate :D

I want to break the 10k GPU barrier but I need to get my hands on a 180wpsu first, so I can up the voltage.

Here is my current best score:

Quite impressive, I found the voltage barrier of my 260M last night 580/975/1500 but I don't want to overvolt since the card runs hot enough at stock voltage. An optimized Windows install, RAID 0 array and either an X9100 or E8235 should net me another 2k 3dMarks

overvolt? what over volt? you can not over volt any of these cards by changing it from it's lowest setting to it's normal operating mode. what ever is in the vidio bios is what the card is cable of doing. that is not over volting...not sure why people keep thinking this. :)

Well this thread caught a little bit of fire lately and here's a half empty can of oxygen ;)

It appears 880 GPU clock is a bit of a sweet spot for mine. A large bump in score for just a 5MHz increase on the core. P9564 with a GPU score 9272. It would have been good enough for 5th, but jmhdj's golden egg already bumped that :p Nice Job!

but I'm in the ballpark to get back in the list and may go for it. I imagine it would be easy if I bought the SetFSB and went from there.

    68F ambient.

Well, I found out about some exciting software that should give my "ancient" rig a better chance at staying with you guys. Supposedly some G71/72 guys have taken the X9100 to 3.5+ Ghz using ThrottleStop, I'll be doing the same next month and definitely shoot for 14k+.

Aaaand, I was wrong about the GPU "overvolting" I was thinking about desktops I guess. But I have found the limit of the GPU.

Is your 880 GPU core clock stable in 3dmark06? I got 9633 with 850 core OC in vantage but it's not stable in 3dmark06 :(

You can up the voltage already, don't need a brand new 180W to do some extreme benching. :D My 150W PSU works perfectly fine, you'll only need to up the ante when you get a 920XM. :p

    Was that on 10.10?!?!?!

    http://i1037.photobucket.com/albums/a458/miahsoul/Untitled.png

'Bout max my 5850 can go. I've almost had a couple of 970 runs, but they always fail right before new calico can finish. D:
900-920 runs always seem to get the best numbers though, and this 950 was pretty lucky considering that it crashed almost everytime at 940.

Wow, quite impressive, most DESKTOPS have a hard time scoring that high, what did you do for cooling?

Edit: NVM, I just saw your thread with the freezer, I actually have the exact same freezer, so I'll be trying 4 GHz for a run inside my freezer.

My current max was achieved by putting my laptop outside (its about 20 C here right now) and running benches. My max GPU temp was only about 75c

It's already been resolved. Any laptop that uses the HM55, PM55 or really ANY of the mobile 5 series chipset is PCIE 2.0 but speeds limited to 2.5 GB/S. This is something that is actually stated on Intel's own website. Actually a lot of their desktop chipsets have the same limitation. That's why you pay the premium for the X58 chipset which is 6.5 gb/s

    So it's not a AMD/Asus/Dell bug.

PM55. But apparently our 5850/5870M chip is different than everyone else's...
Some people claim that it just has more pure performance and some extra temp monitors, but I just think it's the temp monitors and something else, which I forgot.
Basically, it just allows for more functionality apparently.

Sorry man, 3DMark06 is dead to me, I don't expect to ever install it again. The 880 is far from stable though, it will crash in a game within a few minutes.

Man that 5850 is an OCing beast as you said johnksss, I feel a bit ripped ;)

What is up with the second column for miahsouls results. I'm new to this test, but the 5870 columns seem to be balanced (my term ;)) and the 5850 has a large difference. My test comes out similar to johns.

I agree miahsoul, 10.10 got me out of 10.6 Leaked.

Also could be better board design, with better power circuitry. And better cooling
