They're nearly identical, but on some games, one owns the other.
Anyone know if they did Nvidia (stock) VS ATI (1.07/8 Catalyst), or did they do stock VS stock?
Because if it's stock VS 7-8th ATI driver, then that graph should be avoided for decision making since ATI has had a year to make drastic improvements and the Nvidia driver (#1?) is still in its beta stage.
PS: The Nvidia beta driver has added 1100+ points to it's 3D Mark Score,

Quote from Quadzilla who has already received his G73JW (!!):
"Ran Crysis benchmark all high and from my old scores i had saved this is a just for instance on high with ATI was 30.6 fps and on the Nvidia card its 25.5...
Resident Evil 5 bench on the ATI card it was 62 and on the Nvidia it was 54 ... Just another example .." -

Figured some of you might like to see some of these
-
I was going to post some pics of the in game benchs etc and might get around to it if someone makes an Owners lounge
..
Generally there has been an owners lounge before the machine even launches but this one has been abit strange... -
-
-
I did not even know Justin posted any pics ?.. I cant see them lol.. Then again for some reason i cant get on his website either ... Not sure if its my router or what but for quite sometime it wont let me and im not sure if its when i switched routers or what ...

Thanks it is a modification we are trying out. We plan on doing it on the G53, G73 and G51.
Maybe these will show up? Here are the pics posted above.Attached Files:

Oh now that is slick...
Keyboards sold separately batteries not included ?...
-
That is strange. The pictures are linked from his site, so that would make sense that you couldn't see them, but that is wierd that their site would be inaccessable. When it comes to me, anything that happens above the physical lair in routing is witchcraft, so I have no idea why that would happen.
Anyway there are three pictures of the G73JW with a blue, green and red backlit keyboard respectively. Looks like Dellienware with the redlight. -
Yeah i need to unplug my router one day and just go straight from the cable box to see whats up ...
Maybe he banned me ? lol... Not that i ever did anything ? hehe.. -

We may sell them later on. The colors are fixed and unfortunately can not be changed on the fly. We plan on doing all basic colors and will try doing a Rainbow one tomorrow.
That is weird you can't access our website Quad. If you want PM me your IP and I can have our admin look at the logs? -
Ahhh, cool. Well they all look very good, definitely adds some flare to the notebook.
-
Yeah they are very slick .. That looks like some tedious work since the keyboards are rather fragile..
-
It's even starting to look like a triple ...
-
The blood red one is cool but the blue go's best with the light bar under the screen...
-
It's pretty easy to mod the KB backlight:
Here is a youtube video teach you how to do it:
YouTube - How to color backlit Keyboard for Powerbook G4 & MacBook Pro -
The blue and red really look nice. Hopefully it's not overdone like the Alienwares, those are way too flashy.
-
Wow, that looks excellent, Ken.
-
wwhho thanks ken
one question will modifying backlight has any effect on warranty . -
-
I like the idea of having a blue one to match the other lights (and the bright white kinda annoys me).
I just might do this myself.
Ken, think you could post a sort of a Guide or some Photos of how you did it on the keyboard you posted the photo of (so we can see how ours looks to dissasemble)? -
thanks ken again
ya please if you could post guide will be more better -
-
IMO, the only set of light that match the G73 feeling are the blue one. So, I'm happy with white ones, they are better in light and low-light situations though, blue seems to be diffuse under low-light and work well only in the dark.

Any of you guys know where I can order one of these beasts in the UK?
Who can ship one from the US and how much would it cost approx?
Thanks in advance -
I know GentechPC ships to the UK as do most other resellers on this board..
Youd have to contact them to find out all the details on shipping costs... -
No problem, yeah I'll see if I can post a guide on the weekend.
It'll only cost about $5 and 10 minutes to mod. -
-
Btw, for any of you guys, like me, who own eSATA drives and would like to use them on your G73, I discovered that SIIG actually makes a USB 3.0-to-eSATA dongle that's reasonably priced from a few vendors. I thought this was great news considering the lack of eSATA and ExpressCard ports. Hopefully this will help anyone on the fence about getting the system in need of such a port.

Mine just arrived, literally 48 hrs after I placed the order...GenTech/UPS FTW!
Of course I'm stuck at work so I don't get to tear into it til later tonight. I'll post my musings and what nots about it as soon as I can, let me know if anyone has any specfic issues you want me to check for -
Does anyone know where i could get those nice white half liquid looking pads they use on the JW for vRAM now?
Ken could you get me some of those?
And thanks for taking the time to post up a guide, im anxiously awaiting to tear my keaboard up after its posted.
-
I dont even think they were pads to begin with and just some type of odd liquid from a tube lol... When you rip apart the GPU this stuff starts to leak all over thats how fluid like it is ...
Its almost not even a paste... Odd stuff.. I was going to replace it with Arctic Ceramique when i was in there and i might down the road just for giggles ... -

WOW... I really like the WASD keys in white. These look great Ken. How much
for a all blue keyboard and white WASD keys??? Looks like this laptop is going
to cost me more with every passing day Lol.... -
-
The american flag keyboard looks very cool...
The WASD keys being the stars is very slick... -
Cant wait till my G73JW comes in =)
Wish they shipped on Sunday's lol.... -
-
.. More then i would have ever done... Heck i thought a solid color was cool and seeing someone take it to the next level, well yeah
..
-
Darn, those lighting configs make me almost wish I'd waited to order my G73! Almost. Definitely looking forward to a step-by-step mod guide!
-
Here is the simple guide to mod the keyboard backlight for G73/G51/G53:
1: buy the colored film, it can be found at your local gift shop, mine cost only $3.99 per roll which is very cheap not even $4.
2: lift the KB up and disconnect the backlight cable and ribbon cable of the KB:
3: remove the two screws on the aluminum foil:
4: lift the aluminum foil up:
5: cut the colored film and place between the KB and aluminum foil:
That's it. of course you can cut the different colors to mix it. -
Seems simple enough...
Nice guide Ken.. Maybe ill pick up some pink foil this week ..
Oops, i mean Blue of course... -
thanks ken
it seems simple
i will try today see how its look -
I'll get right on it, great guide! ...
Oh wait ...no G53JW yet LOL
Bookmarked! -
You can always start practicing by cutting out squares of cellophane .. That should keep you busy for awhile
...
-
Thanks for the photos Ken!
The JW also has the exact same keyboard with white backlight as the JH right? -
-
Can you tell what wifi card was shipped with your JW? Is it the 6300 or something else? Thanks.
