Asus usually buries mSATA slots.
The 3d screen will likely be brighter.

I would love a laptop with the internals and technical design of an MSI with the looks and the better build of an Asus, but it looks like that will never happen, especially with all the wrong turns Asus has made with the G750. They have been declining since the great G73.
-
I still have a G73 that I game to a family member. It is reliable enough but the touchpad has issues now and then. I now use a G75vw updated to windows 8 and 3 ssd drives. The start up and shut down is amazingly quick. I am more upset that it has been so long that I could buy a gaming laptop with a nice glossy screen not these matte grainy screens. The first thing I do is swap out the screen with the older AUO glossy. Even the G750 has the crappy matte screen.
-
cant nobody bus this laptop already and test it, I have a chance to buy it in Europe for 1500 eur
-
I see the shift to matte screens as a positive. It just comes down to how high of quality the screens being used are, whether they're glossy or not.
Sounds like you can be the one to buy it and test it... -
I find the notebookcheck reviews to be invaluable but they only done a preview so far
-
If this AccessTech News: Computex 2013: Thunderbolt Graphics from SilverStone become available sometime this year - I don't need 780m.

Still in alpha and running into the same troubles as everyone else. What happens if you remove the plug while in use.....
-
and who knows if intel/apple come to agreement with them yet. The express card egpu manf stop making tb egpu just because intel was all over them.
-
Check out videos here Thunderbolt Graphics Technology Turns Your Ultrabook Into a Gaming Rig he removes that plug and all is fine.
-
I think we can be pretty sure that eGPU solutions will be actively worked against by laptop manufacturers and firmare/software driver makers. It's one reason you haven't seen it taken off yet. Laptop makers just want your laptop to be obsolete as soon as possible, so you are forced to buy new (it's a rotten world we live in). For this to become anywhere mainstream, a Thunderbolt port needs to come standard on all laptops. The G750 surprisingly includes a Thunderbolt port, but many of the other gaming laptops do not. Of most value would be to see Thunderbolt on smaller 13'' laptops, so you get the great portability + eGPU power combined. But I bet you will not see many such laptops with a Thunderbolt...
In addition to that, I wouldn't be surprised if that SilverStone eGPU solution never hits the market, encountered "difficulties", or is otherwise crippled... -
@ Gentech - is there an update on that SonicMaster audio? Thanks

Considering the Asus g750 or Alienware 17. Do not like the aesthetics of the MSI, Sager/Clevo, ibuypower or any of those laptops built on those chassis. Cheap/Ulgy in my opinion. But that's eliminates them as options for me. Anyone have any comments regarding these 2 notebooks?
I'm currently using a 5 year old Asus with geforce 9600m which has never let me down. Very solid computer. Only thing I had to replace is the AC power brick couple of weeks ago. Like the Asus name. Not sure about Dell/Alienware. Are they reliable? I have read a lot of negative comments about Alienware. But in saying that I have read a lot of negative comments about the g75. The speaker and screen issues kept me from getting the g75vx.
Does anyone know when the g750 will be available in Canada or US?
Thanks -
Personally, I prefer the Asus g750 since I've compared the price between these laptop. Alienware seems a little bit more expensive. The only thing that I worry about is the fan. I've never used Asus laptop before, so I don't know if the fan is loud when running some intense games.
For Asus g750JW, you can now order it from many websites. The Asus G750JX will be available on June 24th, but I've seen some websites, which start selling it now.
Go here to find a good website to order the Asus G750.

Well the MSI is pretty much out of contention, all that horsepower is pretty much useless. Let me see how Asus approach their cooling.

For people that want the JH version, Asus has put another embargo until the 26th for webshops to put the JH version on their website. I have talked to various dutch and european webshops if they would get the JH version. Almost all respond that they will, but cannot put it on their site yet until the 26th. Just so you know
-
I had a bad feeling about this one , but damn... what a waste... Curious on how Asus will handle JH model. I'll most likely pick up a JX, it's slimmer, cooler, yet powerful enough for my games.
-
To be more fair, it can be driver or psu issue. It come with 180w psu iirc.
80s is not even hot in notebook standard. -
Lol at all the "omg ASUS sux, MSI wins" fanboys. Just as I said. The MSI is 99% marketing BS in an awful chassis.
-
Where's that "ASUS is finished, MSI kicked it's butt" kid now? The temps of the MSI are just below 100 degrees if you don't turn the fans on to an (and I quote) obnoxious level, and even then they drop to 85. I guess now we know why the 780m model is thicker. Because ASUS likely had the same problem (even though they already have a dual fan design) but decided to fix it.
Did I read correctly, that the JH will be available from the 26th of June? What happened to August (I read somewhere that the dual SSD model will be available in August (and probably with Leap))? Don't get me wrong, I would love to get it ASAP, it just seems like a big change in the date.

No, the JH will not be available from june 26th. It is just that the Asus embargo gets lifted on june 26th so shops can show the JH on their website (to pre-order I guess).
-
The reason why it is in the 80's is that the laptop is throttling itself. Check out the frame rates for starcraft, tomb raider and elder scrolls at enthusiast settings. The older M17xR4 *beats* the MSI because the GT 70's temperatures were going so high, the laptop had to pull down the FPS.
If the GT70 had little lower FPS than an equivalent laptop, that would be a non issue. When the newer Asus and Alienware come out, they will kick MSI's rear (assuming they have proper cooling). -
If you read the heat page carefully, they talk about using max fan feature. The temp max had drop 10c andSo temp max dropped 10c and performance still same?
Also they speak of cpu throttle, but they don't say how, how much. It is not hard to show cpu usage and clock plot.
I am not tring to defend certain brand or w.e,
but saying "it is hot( and it not even hot with fan set to max, which clevo user do the same) so it throttles" without proof is not convincing me. -
Well, seeing that it has ONE! fan explains a lot.
-
well it's a good thing I discarded the idea of getting a GT60 then. exactly the same hardware, only with even less space for the cooling system...
-
All I can say is the Asus G750JH with 230w power supply and dual fans + thicker design will be one of the best for games and overclocking.
MSI, just wow. (Milking your customers.)
-
-
Afaik this is not the only MXM machine than run with one fan. yes, aside from MSI.
-
the same in Italy, 1470 € for the JX model
NOTEBOOK ASUS -
holy crap, the best price I had found was 1650 euro, 1470 is a steal, IF it includes VAT. I hope the store is reliable though, I'll give them a call tomorrow.
-
Thanks to everyone who dug up all the information so far! I'm pretty excited about the machine - still waiting to see what/if becomes of the steambox but chances are the G750 will be the next replacement for my slowly aging G53.
-
Anyone know the difference between the G750JX-DB71 and the G750JX-TB71? There is about a $300 difference for the DB71, and I can't find the comparison using Google and spec sheets.
-
The price is VAT (21%) included

Yeah because Anandtech is a VERY reputable review source. /s
-
Yes, Anandtech is a very reputable review source.
-
-
Listen dude, if you don't know much about review sites, that's cool. The thing is, Anandtech is considered amongst the gold standard for reviews. If you however feel this is not the case, please do share the reason and which site does a better job.
-
Nice experiment!
If it really comes close to that thickness, it would be quite manageable for me. It looks ridiculously thick in some pictures.
-
Good job,bro:thumbsup:

Their technical details and components yes, but that review was very poorly done. -
Well, almost all performance laptop/notebook review anandtech did got bash on. The alienware m17x m18x ,precision m6700, clevo 170em reviews, just look back
-
GTX 760 - 770m are rubbish 780m is more worth it
-
770M rubbish?! It's 50% faster then my old 660M!
-
I'm still looking for an answer to my question and not sure where else to go to find it...
"Anyone know the difference between the G750JX-DB71 and the G750JX-TB71? There is about a $300 difference for the DB71, and I can't find the comparison using Google and spec sheets."
Thanks! -
I Googled both and quickly noticed that the $1899 -DB71 has a 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD, while the -TB71 simply has a single 750GB HDD.
-
770m is far from being rubbish, even the 765m is quite the upgrade over last years equivalent mid level go to gpu 660m, of course the 780m is a beast lets hope they bridge the performance gap a bit between 770m and 780m with a 775m . ^^
-
Did Asus ever fix the missing keystroke issues on this line?
-
Yes that's not been an issue since the G74.
-
Does anybody know where I can purchase an ASUS G750 in the UK as all the retailers seem to be US based?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Don't think you can yet, you might have to look at importing it.
Check the warranty details but they do cover internationally IIRC.
