I very hope to see reachable vents like g75 at JH version since there is different chassis! and surprisingly I wait a total SILENT ASASSIN! no fan noise please!

by the specs on the ROG site, there is no difference in thickness or weight between each configuration. Obviously, something's not quite right here. Also, they claim a weight of 4.5 kg despite the Gentech review having weighed the G750JX at about 4 kg. Why would Asus overstate it?

EDIT: heh, even the "pictures" are wrong. Check this one out: no rear vents whatsoever. Someone at ROG seriously forgot to do their homework properly.

    oh.....ooooohhhh....
That's what I get for sleeping three hours. I'll retreat to my original perplexity about weight and thickness then.

Thing is - how much thicker is the JH? Will the JH come with both leap motion and a headset? I can consider buying it if that is the case - but not for just the computer.

I already own a headset, and the Leap costs about 80$ if I'm not mistaken, so it's not a dealbreaker for me. It's a nice adition, but I don't care if they won't bundle it. And I have no idea about what they will bundle with what (I saw another video here: Hands-on: ASUS RoG G750 gaming laptop | YugaTech | PC Labs where there is talk of that ugly ROG mouse being bundled too, so I guess it depends on the model/when/where you buy it.

And someone should check out the pictures and estimate the thickness, it shouldn't be too hard. I'm a bit disapointed because the 780m model doesn't have the same sleek form. But hey, that 100W TDP has to have some effect on the cooling, so I suppose they had no choice there.

I believe there would be no reason to be that thick unless it is really 120w TDP vs 70-80w.

780m needs thermal headroom to perform properly due to turbo. Asus just doing due diligence for their consumers.

I'm sorry if this question has already been asked, but I read the first and last 10 pages of this thread and couldn't find the answer.

Does anyone know when the G750JX (770m video card) will be released? I don't know why the hell ROG's website says it's already been launched....

Has there been an official release date announced or is it all rumours?

Lastly, does anyone know how much it will cost? There's still a Canadian website listing it at $1899 available for pre-order, but it's super sketchy because the detailed tech specs aren't shown and there aren't any customization options like what all the major American resellers offer.

    ASUS ROG G750JX-DB71 Intel Core I7-4700HQ Haswell GTX770M 16GB 1TB 256GB SSD 17.3in Win8 Notebook

Also, bear in mind that if it's $1899 in Canada, it will probably be $1699 in the USA.

You maybe right, could be end of July or early August.

G750JX with GTX770M should be around end of June and MSRP for US SKU is $1899.

Yeah they said here that "For those looking for *the best* model - you'll want the JH, which will be available in August due to availability of components and slight differences in the chassis design to accomodate the higher wattage GTX 780M."

Where did you get that info Mackan? And damn, August seems so far away... Will other competitors be offering the 780 sooner? Oh and by the way, since the Leap will be bundled with it in Q3 (which lasts from July 1st till September 30th) it will probably be bundled with the 780m models, since August is right in the middle of that quarter. This is just my speculation btw.

Yep the JH is significantly thicker.

There's so much about this laptop I should hate, but I just keep coming back to it. At least I have plenty of time to think, if it's not coming until August.

The G750 uses a 4700HQ instead of the 4700MQ. So I guess the CPU isn't upgradeable but the GPU might be in the future?
Very glad they bumped up the AC adapter output to 230 watts from 180w and from the specs "3/ 2 pin compact power supply system", it has a 2 wire tip. Now they just need a MQ rather than an HQ processor. Maybe HQ's cost less?

Kevin, how did you do this? When I go on GenTech's website and search G750, only the G750JW comes up, not the G750JH. I want to see if I can also preorder the G750JX but I can't find it on their website, just like I can't find the JH as you have successfully done.

An Asus rep provided that information on their official forum. So what you buy is what you get, with regards to CPU and GPU. No chance to upgrade it.

Does anyone know how thick the JH is? The dimensions are listed as the same on the Asus website when they obviously aren't.

The size and the cooling/noise levels are the only factors in my decision between Asus and AW atm.

Just seems odd, as the much smaller G46 I've got that is the same style chassis I was able to upgrade CPU no problem... CPU is socketed and GPU is integrated into the motherboard. How much more space could a socket really take up on a 17" chassis? Seems if they went this way it was more of a marketing decision. If this is true, along with the chassis being deeper than initial pictures and the loss of Optimus, I'm no longer interested at all.

I've upgraded CPUs in almost all of my previous laptops... lack of space here seems like a silly excuse by Asus.

Thanks for sharing the link! Curious what Gentech says...

Asus had better not put the HQ in the JH. (No thickness excuse.) Should be MQ, and hopefully with the added thickness they do MXM like the old G73JH. (You have until August Asus!)

Also integrate the Leap Motion sensor into the front of chassis with slide out tray. (Like the blu-ray drive is.)

I should just work for Asus.

With the only disadvantages being the AC adapter limitation and possibly the hard to press single touch pad mouse button vs 2 buttons for the G750.
Oh yeah, and you might not be able to keep the touchpad on if you want to use the keyboard and touchpad at the same time (game without an external mouse), unconfirmed.
Otherwise yeah, it's lighter, it has Optimus(battery life still good though), way easier to upgrade (and POSSIBLE), your warranty isn't void if you remove the heatsink (enthusiasts and engineers like freedom and trust, you know), has a 15.6" version, has a rainbow keyboard(but can just be 1 color or off).
Just a bunch of things, I'm not quite sure how Asus missed so many areas on this one.
But also, the Clevo p157sm has low screen brightness when on battery power and the new Alienwares have low screen brightness all the time.

Really all the new Haswell 780m laptops have flaws. I have no desire to buy any of them due to flaws, constraints and/or limitations. If anything it would be the MSI.

My brother has a MSI GT model too, and he had to take it in for repairs four times in a year. It just randomly stopped working, and they replaced the laptop completely once, and that one broke too. He can just be really unlucky, things do break no matter the company that makes it, but I just can't bring myself to like the MSI because of its design. There's no way I'm paying money for something that I don't like looking at. It's a stupid view on things, but that's how it is, I wish that I could like the MSI, because it is better in a lot of areas.

Okay, so the official ROG site claims that the JH is launching in August, but all the other resellers claim a July release date. Well, I hope they are right :D
