Indeed, I don't really mind 3D. I'm interested by 3D screen only for 120hz (smoother) and apparently best quality. In fact, I'd like to try a 120 Hz screen long-term on a laptop!

However on G series, 3D screens are glossy I think, it drains more power, and it's a little bit more exepensive ... it's a choice.

I never tried. However, it's possible to play 3D with a GTX670MX, even with less FPS, there is positive tests and reviews. (For fun, not for competition.) So I guess it will be ok whit a GTX770M or GTX780M! But there is few games with a good 3D. 3D blue ray looks good for those who are interested in movies... (But I prefer to avoid headaches. ;) )

Keep in mind that there is no optimus on rigs with 120hz 3D screens, so battery life will take a hit . ^^

Source from notebookcheck G75 review (will probably have the same screen or brighter.)

    Maximum: 443 cd/m²
    Average: 421.1 cd/m²
    Brightness Distribution: 90 %
    Center on Battery: 436 cd/m²
    Black: 0.61 cd/m²
    Contrast: 715:1
    ICC File (X-Rite i1Display 2)

I'm confused on the 3D screen spec for the JH/JX tho, because the pics show glossy but the specs show matte?

Well g750 can't do optimus anyway.

Personally I'm not bothered about 3D, but would def get the 3D screen just for 120Hz. Guessing colour gamut will be better too.

That is strange, I read that NONE of the G750 models will have optimus enabled because modifying the design for a differently placed display controller would have been too much of a pain. I'm sure one of the new owners here can clear that up though...if I am wrong, then I do worry a bit about the 3D versions' battery life. Hopefully Haswell will help compared to the G75's pretty poor 2 hours of battery...

EDIT: someone asked about Optimus on the ROG forums, I'll keep an eye on the post

I ordered one off NCIX. If lucky, I will get it tomorrow. If not, on Wed. I really hope this is the laptop I will end up with for few years because I am getting tired of keep returning laptops.

So far, I went through Lenovo Y500, Y510p, MSI GE60, and now Asus ROG G750.

In Lenovo Y500's case, it was bad timing. As soon as I ordered, I saw Y510p came in, so I cancelled but received anyway and tested the unit out for few hours. Without going too far, let's say it's cheap for a reason.

Y510p lacked msata and was using NGFF instead, so I cancelled the order.

MSI Haswell GE60 has serious heat issues. But it has got awesome screen and impressive storage configuration options (2 HDDs, 2 msata).

I liked the design of G750 because I previously liked the design of the 14 inch brother. While I do not like the fact that Asus block you from accessing the laptop's internal components other than HDD and half of ram, I decided to give it a go. I really don't get why they have to limit user accessibility like that. But if they are built to be a quality, I suppose I won't need to get into internal components.

it must be nice to live in a country where all these laptops go on sale right away  I spent an entire month trying to get Lenovo to sell me an Y500 since it is listed on their website but the reps are utterly useless and have no clue what they are selling. So if Lenovo doesn't want my money, I thought ASUS deserves it.
Now, the most powerful laptops we can get in Italy are the G750 and Santech which is basically Clevo. Considering that four years ago Asus wasn't selling its ROG brand in Italy, it's amazing we are getting this new model as soon as it launches.

765m is more than good enough for me. Heck, I just wanted 750m, but the laptop has some serious heat issues. It does not overheat. It just cooks my palm.

So much for simplicity and the 3 models they announced on the ROG site. I don't mind a lot of configurations, but you can be sure that whatever configuration you want, will only be available in a country where you are not located...

Must be a nightmare to keep track of that Thunderbolt port... It's supposed to be combined as a DisplayPort...

You might want to repaste the CPU/GPU and then it would be convenient for easy access. The paste job from the factory is a hit or miss.

17.3" 16:9 FHD EWV LED Backlight/Full HD 3D(1920x1080 120Hz) Non-Glare LCD Panel (Optional) (Asus website)

It looks like they will give you a choice between glossy or matte 3D screen. (They have had both in the past.) :D

    That would be sweet!

Purolator delivered the laptop to a wrong address in a totally different city, wonderful ! It's hard to fail like that.

So, I gotta wait until they sort out the crap they created.

This is twice from them past 5 years.

    Just for info:

from today on one quite prominent german notebook shop (notebook.de) lists the Asus G73jh with 780m for 1999€

    Asus G750JH-T4080H - Intel Core i7-4700HQ 2.40GHz (BluRay/Win 8) - 90NB0181-M00930 de Notebooks Laptops billiger notebook.de

    Configuration:

    - 43,94cm (17.3") Full HD LED Display, non glare (1920x1080)
    - Intel Core i7-4700HQ 2.40GHz (6MB Cache; Intel Turbo Boost bis 3.40GHz)
    - 8 GB DDR3-RAM 1600MHz
    - 1 TB SATA Festplatte 5400 U/min + 256 GB SSD
    - 4 GB GDDR5 Nvidia GeForce GTX 780M
    - BluRay Player + DVD Brenner (Combo)

Available in 3-4 weeks. Preorder is already possible.

If there was a config without SSD, this could be 100-150€ less..

Sounds not too bad i think.

To be honest, mechanical hard drive and optical disc drive is totally unnecessary for me. If there as a configuration where one could trim away 'the slack', so to speak, would be great. The hard part is always to find a configuration where you get what you want, and where you don't pay for stuff you don't want.

Very nice! I hope we get another option with a 3D screen, but the rest of the specs are awesome for the price i.m.o.
8GB is more than enough atm, but luckily this can be upgraded for much cheaper than on this german website (be careful with upgrading memory btw, Asus says it has to be 1.35v memory!

Here in Holland, they are not fast with updating their shops now that the embargo has been lifted. I'll wait and see what options will be available.

Undyingghost > Enjoy! [Edit: Oups. I (mis)understood that "you" just got one...]
Could you say us which model is your Wi-Fi card 802.11b/g/n Bluetooth 4.0? (I guess you know how to find it in "peripheral devices"?)

    Thermometer > One of the best offer I found was in Holland. ASUS 90NB00N1-M01660 G750JX-CV151H-BE i7 4700HQ 12G - Hardware.nl
    (GTX770M / 3D / 256SSD + 1To / 12G RAM...but would it be... a belgian-french keyboard?)
It was less than 1600 eur tax incl. two days ago. I asked them some questions about this model... and now it's 1935 !!! (I hope it's not my fault. ;) )
Now, the best price I could find for this model is 1620 eur... but several other shops just increased the price...)

That would be good, a filter on the intake vents so we can remove it and clean it. Helping cut down on dust in front of the cooper heat spreader after the fan . I've owned a G73 and it ended up filling up with dust after 6 months even vacuuming the vents did not get all of it. Had to open it up. This dust filter might stop that.

    Notice on the notebooks.de listing:

    - illuminated metal QWERTY keyboard with numeric keypad

The listing shows its a QWERTY keyboard, English and not a QWERTZ german keyboard ?? Interesting. I have emailed them asking if it will be a QWERTY model.

765m. I was merely looking for 750m, so it's already overkill for me.

Heat issues? This thing doesn't even heat up at all. My palm was burning when I was using MSI GE60, this thing remains as cool as cucumber. Not sure about its sound yet. Screen could be better but I'd say it's passable quality.

Over at Tom'shardware they are having an "Ask Me Anything" of Asus today until 12 noon EST tomorrow ( Ask Me Anything - Official ASUS Representative - Asus - Motherboards).

I managed to be the 1st post there but they still haven't answered my question. I asked why they decided to have a soldered CPU in the G750. Maybe if someone else asks the same question it'll have a higher chance of being answered.
