I recommend you contact them first and ask, to be sure. Resellers usually never get it right with the specs they show on their websites...

Hey alucasa, mind sharing the battery life for full HD youtube video playback?
Also does the GPU/CPU throttle in battery mode, and by how much? :D

I'd say "no 3D screen -> no 120Hz". And a 3D screen should be highlighted.

PS: However, I tried a 120Hz G75VX during 15 min (desktop and web), and it was not impressive...even if it was really too short to test this screen.

Also, a while back I heard that the 3D screen would not have a matte display, but a glossy one. Something to do with 3D not being that visible with a matte display?

Hmm... even the vw version has a 3d capable non glare screen... so i think all of them have 3d... that could be the reason why it will not get optimus...

They probably all get a 3D-capable graphic card (if you have an external 3D screen), but not a 3D screen.
You can check on Asus web site what is allowed or not for each model:
    http://www.asus.com/Search/?SearchKey=G750

I'm pretty sure that there is few G750 model with 3D 120Hz screen up to now. And usually, there are glossy.
(Following your link, I think the G75VX-CVxxxx is a 3D screen. The most expensive, and a glossy one...)

I would be interested if you can find a G75W link with a matte 3D-capable screen!

Ok ... i have spoken to Asus and to Notebook.de

    G750JH-T4080H
    G750JW-T4019H
    G750JW-T4057H
    G750JX-T4052H
    G750JX-T4070H
    G750JX-T4166H
    G750JX-T4167H

they all do NOT have a 3D screen ....

Somehow i do not understand how they can adverse a 3D screen .... and not build it in the top model ... and do not make a model with the 3D screen avaliable for Preorders.... As always Customers who preorder and buy early get punished...

There is already some 3D models:
    G750JX-CV038H Italy
    G750JX-CV151H Belgium
    G750JX-CV080H Israel
    G750JX-CV030H France
    etc...
    But I don't know for G750JH... and I don't know for Deutschland.

    However, it's already possible to buy a 3D 120Hz Matte screen for G750JH for 100$! ;)
For example, there: ASUS G750JH Notebook Display Replacement | LAPTOP & TABLET LCD SCREEN FROM $34.99.
    or there: https://www.laptopscreen.com/French/model/ASUS/G750JH/
    or ...
I really don't know what it worth... And mainly, I know infra-red above the screen is needed to use 3D glasses!
But I guess someone only insterested in 120Hz could change the screen? (Mostly if it's broken, of course...)

hmm.... do u now where the information is stored which refresh rate the panel supports? on the panel itself?

i mean ... if u upgrade to a 120hz panel and it still gets reported as 60hz panel its pretty useless

btw ... found one for hu
    http://www.arukereso.hu/notebook-c3100/asus/g750jh-cv011h-p167489392/termek-leiras.html

the price for the 3d model seems to be 200€ above the non 3d model.... i think i will stick to the non 3d model and buy oculus rift instead ;-D

I tried 3D G75VX during 30 minutes (no gaming), switching from 60Hz to 120Hz, but I couldn't see any differences. What did I expect? An improvement when scrolling text? Sharper images or videos?
However, maybe it was still better for my eyes and my brain? ;)
    I really wanted 120Hz, but now... I don't know.

What really defines the refreshment rate known by the machine? No idea...
On a 3D G75, you can chose from 60 Hz to 120Hz simply in the resolution options. But what happens if you plug a new screen as internal screen, it's another story...

I am keeping mine. That's for sure. This is a lovely machine. I just need to wait for a disassembly guide to take out the useless optical drive and replace it with a HDD caddy later.

Ironically, when this machine gets hotter in relative terms is when I do light tasks where the fans are in really low rpm. During gaming, it felt cooler on chassis.

While this is my first Asus ROG laptop I bought, I've been keeping eyes on previous models. A major factor that made me reject previous models was the soft/matte plastic on palm rest.

With G750, Asus got that out of the way. The aluminum upper chassis is lovely. It feels solid and firm and no flex at all.

Cleaning fans is not possible without dismantling unless you want to use a can of jet-air.

But I've had few laptops go 7 years without cleaning fans, so it may not be a factor.

By taking a close look at the chassis and hidden screws, I can already tell that dismantling this laptop is going to be a major pain in the butt. The chassis is basically three pieces, the upper aluminum part and the bottom bowl-like thick plastic part and finally a rear cover behind the lid.

You will totally need a proper guide with proper pictures to safely dismantle.

Same boat here, but with MSI you get a single cooling fan. Possible overheating issues if you dont use the power cooler 2 mode and lower build quality. MSI have improved, but the build quality of ASUS is very good. And the design is a good looker. Doesn't date bad like the MSI's do. The G73 still looks nice...

Sure the GT60 or GT70 is tempting with such hardware. But (personally) compared to the ASUS Rog notebook line up the gaming MSI's have ugly styling. Close to pulling the trigger on a 770M or 780m Asus G750 but also looking at a 780m powered GT60... Both are large but its a desktop i'm replacing it with.

But the though of looking at the MSI's GT60/GT70 all day reminds me of my Gateway 17' 6860FX I had years ago, 2008 and MSI is still styling like that.....

My experience with my G73 was good overall. Come on and get some more reviews out people ;)

I was also unable to overlook the ugliness of MSI GT series, but MSI does give you full freedom of customization by opening a simple bottom cover and MSI does offer more storage choices along with msata slots.

Being unable to overlook the ugliness, I chose MSI GE60 first. But it has a single fan and had heat issues not to mention being too loud. Build quality wise, G750 is a clear winner compared to GE60 but they are not in the same category although GE60 does cost a lot more than others in the same class/category.

Dismantling this laptop should not be an issue in long term once I manage to take it apart once.

I'm not afraid of a complicated dismantling job, I'm afraid of breaking something in the process, like the trackpad and keyboard ribbons which are EXTREMELY delicate in some laptops (such as mine) and very prone to fatigue damage. Hopefully the G750 uses connectors at the end of the ribbons.

As for MSI, the stagnant design has become very difficult to overlook but what broke the deal for me for now is the cooling system. The forums are full of people worried about the temperatures and the need to turn on cooler boost to drop temps below 90, making the thing sound like a jet engine in the process. MSI decided to use the space where you'd expect to find a second fan for the mSATA slots instead of sacrificing the much less sueful optical drive, which makes just no sense in 2013 imho.

Take a peak at some of the G46 threads regarding disassembly, I dare say it's very similar from pictures I've seen of the G750 and might be of assistance. Not hard at all, but if not careful it's easy to knick up the bottom plastic part of the chassis when separating the top panel. Also, watch the ribbon connectors to the bottom of the keyboard/touchpad top aluminum panel... more than one guy has snapped them off on the G46's.

But, once you get the hang of it, it's fairly straightforward. I've had mine apart a few times now with no issues. Enjoy your new machine!

yep, I feel the same. I am afraid of breaking something. I have taken laptops apart but that was just a screwed on bottom case(sony vaio).

Also @ alucasa what do you mean use compressed air? will that not push the dust further inside ?

I've dismantled a faulty G53sw I got that the sensor that detects the lid was close was faulty, thought it was always close so didn't let me power it on. be77solo is right, once you dismantle it once you'll get the hang of it.

It looks harder than it is really, And with a good photo guide its easy if you take your time and do things step by step.

Still can't see how much thinker and higher the G750jh is compared to the G750s's. Looking at the horrible Asus sales person video he says its "of course" larger and higher. But how by much?

The (Mr of course video) is here: ASUS G750 with Nvidia GeForce 770M/780M and Leap Motion - YouTube

And of course you can feel slick in gaming and spicey Haha. Does he know what he is talking about ?!?!

Yep the first time it always seems abit overwhelming but the second time of taking apart the G46 was a no brainer and no doubt the G750 will be very similar.

Taking apart the G73 was far worse because you had to rip off the keyboard that was taped on with ultra doublesided tape then there were many wires and cables taped down after you got inside but the G46 is totally the opposite and very straightforward once you get in there.

Asus made some good choices on how to service these new machines and its still abit extreme just to get inside a computer but certainly better then the past.

ROLF. I just noticed that my laptop is missing two of its frontal rubber feet. Checking Asus eshop, they don't have anything for G750 yet. I wonder if G75 rubber feel will be compatible. They don't have anything for G46, either.

lolz. As a temporary solution, I just stuck two small square rubber feet I had in storage on it.

Are the 770m and 780m model the same thickness? I know that Asus said that the body of the G750JH would be a little thicker for cooling purposes of the 780m but I saw a video on the Prostar YouTube channel and it showed the 765m model and 770m model with the 770m being slightly thicker.

Studied both videos and they look to have the same dimensions to me the 765M and 770M models. The spokesperson does say the 780M model is "of course" thicker.

Edit: OK here is the proof. You can see the JH has a much bigger vents. Infact its massive. It looks a good .5 inch's higher and more bulky :(

My G73sx opening screen shots are here in my original thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...ce-speaker-vibrations-photos.html#post7971717

I had a free bonus too I found a piece of tape in the CPU fan... In there from the factory assembly line. I hope the G750's dont ship with such mishaps. But if you look at my photos you can see that opening the G750 will be pretty much the same I think.

Remove the screen bracket covering. remove the screws that hold the screen brackets. Remove the battery and harddrives. Then all screws from the bottom. Carefully open it up, I remember it clips in on the sides so you have to be careful when opening it up.

If I do get a G750 I will open mine up and repaste it and take a few photos of the process.

No, Optimus is disabled on a hardware level.

And thunderbolt is supposed to be included on all models.

Someone mentioned that the 780m has a 130W TDP. Isn't it supposed to be 100?

Holly crap! According to this thread Just got g750jx from BB..Ask any questions you may have! the sound system installed in 750's is the same as it was in G75, which means that subwoofer is actually just another speaker, placed on the left side, underneath ..... Wow, asus engineer's should be shot. What a bunch of lamers.... No wonder all the retailers here are quiet on that issue. Nice tactics guys. You can just as well may stop showing up here at all.

Asus said 780m version would be available in August, so you should see in late August or in September. I read that from Asus ROG forum.

I would say to go to Best Buy and listen to the speakers for yourself before "assuming" the worst. :)

Hey guys, sorry trying to search for this answer, but without luck

Does this laptop support Nvidia Reference drivers? Last Asus Laptop with Radeon it took months before eventually AMD/ATI ref drivers were supported along with having to do a Bios Flash. Been MSI for the last couple of years and really want to get back to the rear exhaust

There's still no official driver for GTX 765/770/780M from Nvidia.
    Question for other G750 owners:
Last night (was very quiet) I've noticed high pitch sound coming from laptop (CPU whine?), can you guys check for this occurrence please.
