Nope, does not or at least has not happened to me.
-
Damn, my luck. I also broke one clip on bottom cover, it's so hard to remove.
Starting missing my old G73
-
The bottom lid requires some rough handling to use, yeah. I haven't broken anything - yet - though.
This laptop could be the best of the best if it had an easy access to components. -
Proly your power brick. Had same thing on G75.
-
Can you be more specific please?
Edit:
I can hear it, even when laptop is on battery. -
Does it happen when you scroll up and down in browsers? A slight CPU buzz/whine That's normal to hear when the fans aren't working hard at all or off.
Anyone got the 770m version? If so does it overclock ok?? -
I'll just quote myself from my reply to that thread.
-
link him MSI's dynaudio....
-
I can hear it whole time, on different power options, even in SafeMode.
It's not a "deal breaker", but can by little annoying (because high pitch) in quiet environment. -
I was about to post exactly the same thing. Nicely explained too.
It's usually caused by the power saving C3/4/6 states of your CPU.
Try disabling core parking and the whine should stop:
Disable CPU Core Parking Real-Time - No Reboot
or

It didn't help, but thanks anyway.
-
ADF is here... Once, there a was a G73, with almost perfect speakers. I guess you missed it. Then, there was a G75 with the worst audio I've ever heard on the laptop. But I guess you've missed it as well. And now this. It is really annoying when audio comes out stronger on the left side of the notebook, due to that stupid speaker underneath. And you can barely hear your right side. No one is talking about professional level audio, so stop your whining about my concern with asus QA. Thanks to "pros" like you, on the nextgen G series, Asus will decide to drop the speakers altogether. Who needs them, right?
-
It turns out that replacing the optical drive with a caddy is a piece of cake. In fact, it shares the same method as G75vw.
1. Open bottom lid.
2. Unscrew a single screw.
3. Pull the optical drive out.
4. Replace it with a caddy.
Done.
I didn't need to dismantle the whole rig after all. -
Alucasa is the caddy a fixed asus form-factor meaning you can only get the caddy from asus or is it a normal one where by any other shops selling caddys will do? And how much do they cost?
Also do share the battery life of this beast when using it for youtube full hd and also for gaming
-
It's just a random caddy I had in storage, bought from Ebay. I bought it like a year ago when I was starting to feel that a new laptop would be in order 12 months later.
Asus G750 uses the standard DVD/Blu-ray laptop drive, so anything in that shape will fit with ease.
Unfortunately, I will not test battery life. Battery life is completely not my concern. In fact, I have the battery uninstalled right now. -
It should stop it completely.
Are you sure you've disabled the necessary C states? -
anyone know if XoticPC will carry one with the nVIDIA GTX 780M?
-
I don't see why they wouldn't. Its just not on there site yet as a pre order. But 99% sure they will have it.
-
Yes, but just fixed problem by exchanging laptop in BB. It,s quiet now, ya-ay
.
-
how warm does it get if you keep it on your lap when doing anything except gaming? I understand that while the exhausts are at the back, the air intake is the grid by the service flap on the bottom of the laptop...
-
I thought the intake vents where under the screen, from the top of the unit at least ?
-
well I only read that the grid on the bottom is for cooling so I assumed that is where the two main fans suck in air from. I'm basically wondering if you can forgo using a laptop cooler or any other flat surface when watching HD youtube on the couch without putting the wedding vegetables in danger of overheating
-
I spoke with people over at HIDevolution (a website for laptops and such, that ships to European countries). Asus had edited the embargo from the 26th to the end of June (probably why we didn't hear much). They now have the JH version up for pre-order. It should be in stock mid-july.
-
Nice find. $2499 is quite pricey. But then we are talking about the 780M its a beast. The 770M at $1599 model seems even more appealing for those that don't need the absolute best in gaming power and want it a little slimmer. The 770M isn't too shabby either 50xx in 3DMark11 maybe with a good overclock it can reach much higher, its clocked quite low.
I think I'm going to hold off for some G750JH reviews to come out. -
holy smokes, you know what, I don't think the gain in FPS is worth 900$, especially since the 780M is still a Kepler card. If it's a matter of being able to play more games before having to upgrade the laptop, that price difference would allow you to buy a PS4, a PSP AND a 3DS.
-
well, it appears to come with msata drives AND two standard drives, so there must be a couple msata slots buried in the laptop somewhere...
-
Yeah not really worth it is it. For that price, get the 770M version and two 840 pros and run them in Raid0
I would think only the G750jh version will have the 2 mSata slots (on the motherboard) and I bet they are not user accessible. You would have to open it up. -
Hey Guys,
why isn't there a Asus G750 Owner's Lounge?
Also, is the G750 less popular than MSI GT70? if so, why?
Thanks, -
I don't think many received their machine where msi is already on hand. Also the official Asus rog forum is pretty active.
The Asus will probably sell more than MSI, but that price and non-upgradable parts aren't exactly nbr taste. -
The $900 is not just the 780M remember it comes with dual SSD's as well as the 780M
-
G750 owners out there, how noisy do the fans get when converting videos or gaming etc? Are they quite loud?
-
Compared to MSI GE60's noise level, it whispers at loudest.
You should have heard how loud GE60 can get. It's almost on par with a lawn blower. -
Do you need dual SSD's? Cause I don't. And $900 is a lot of dinero's these days.
-
Nope, raided SSD is way over kill. A single SSD for OS is more than enough. The thing has 2 HDD bays. Put an aftermarket SSD and use conventional HDD for storage.
-
exactly, I plan on putting a 120gb samsung 840 pro in the second bay, which should be plenty fast. only issue will be successfully moving the OS to it which seems to be a hit or miss procedure.
-
BtW , does anybody knows if I can install my old SSD, that i was using in G75, into G750? I just took it out ,when I was selling the system, so the OS ( Win 7) and all the programs are still on it. Wll I have to reinstall everything or what? Thanks
-
I always replace HDDs when I buy a new laptop and install OS fresh.
It's as easy as popping in new drives and insert prepared windows DVDs or USB. While I generally avoid utilities software by manufacturer, in case of ROG G750, you will need power4gear and ATKP drivers for some special functions. -
I've heard there is a problem with Win7 installation due to something in the BIOS...
-
No idea. I used Windows 8 on it. Win 8 is not too bad once you get used to it. It kind of lies how it operates though to make it appear fast.
I installed Windows 7 on MSI Haswell GE60 though before I sent it for refund. I needed to disable secure boot to load windows 7 USB. But I did not see such an option in G750's bios. That might have to do something with it and that G750's BIOS is really limited. It's just bare minimum option-wise. -
Haha yeah I've heard its bad, I was looking at a GT60 with the 780M its using the same fan setup and I don't fancy gaming with a lawn blower fan noise. So might settle for the 770M G750.
-
I don't have first hand experience with GT series, but GT should somehow have a better cooling, but it's shocking to find that they use a single fan for both CPU and high-end GPU.
After having numerous gaming laptops, I am pretty convinced that a gaming laptop ought to have 2 fans. But my biggest complaint with GE60 wasn't the loudness though. It was the laptop turning into a giant heatsink. -
Same here. Its why I haven't brought the GT60 with 780M, sure the price is good but a single fan to cool all that power... Results in a very loud fan when its running under load. Not sure I can handle that. After all I'm selling my desktop as I'm stick of the heat and fan noise. Specially now in summer. And I'm using a "silent series" tower and quieter fans lol. Done my dash with desktops, happy to settle with a destop replacement notebook now. That 4700MQ in the G750 beats my i5 2500k (non overclock) thats plenty of power.
I remember my G73 & G53 were both good when it came to noise. Well apart from one shipping with a bit of tape in the fan. However i fixed that. -
so all I'd need to do after receiving the laptop is burn the recovery disks and then use them to reinstall the OEM windows 8 from the HDD to the SSD?
-
So embargo is lifted or is extended again ? Dont see much news of jh at europe .cups
-
Should be interesting to see what the fans will be like in both G750 models, since they are different sizes I'm thinking the one with a 780M will be louder, only reason is they probably used bigger, beefier fans to cool all the high end hardware down.
-
You might as well prepare now. In my case, I happened to have Windows 8 DVD disk, sent kindly by MS when I accepted 49.99 upgrade offer. MS sent all-in-one disk that contains Windows 8 and pro. Depending on key entered, the disk would automatically select either windows 8 or pro.
There are various ways to download windows 8. Just google your way around.
You can also prepare UEFI bootable USB stick. You just need a cheapass 4gb unit to do that. Use Rufus Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way for formatting and setting up UEFI bootable disk.
Drives come in a CD with the box, so that is not a problem.
Or you could use whatever Asus default HDD comes with. Since I am prepared, I just delete partitions at once without caring. -
do I get to use the same license of the copy installed on the OEM HDD? what about all the drivers and bundled software?
-
Its was a close call, but decided against the MSI GT60. Too noisy and hot for me. Gaming on that machine needs the turbo fan mode at 50db like a hair dryer. No thanks. So I pulled the trigger on a G750JX-RB71 with HIDEvolution. CPU/GPU repaste with IC diamond.
Now the waiting game begins. When I get hold of it I will give the forum my low down on the machine and run a few benchmarks and see what I can push that 770M too in overclocks.
