Thanks for the update on fan noise.
If the noise level you describe are true, since noise is very subjective experience which vary from person to person, its pretty amazing for a notebook with such hardcore components like 780M.

I have a bit hard time trusting that Prime95+Furmark noise is the same as idle on Clevo P157SM though. Must be some pretty huge fans Asus use since there are limits on how low RPM you can run while keeping the cooling sufficient.

    @ killian:

Please test run 3dMark11 with performance settings for us.

I really want to know if the G750 scores as well as the Clevos with 780m.

    Thank you!

    Hi,

i dont have a wifi ac router so i cant say anything about it. And my model is without 3d display. Just 2d and no leapmotion.

    I just downloaded 3Dmark 11.

    http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/6993429
7474 score. But i dont know if there will be better results with newer nvidia drivers.

Regarding the noise level. I agree that it is very subjective. We have to wait for real db-tests. But as i had the g73, and a clevo P150sm i can say it is very silent for a gaming notebook.

Temperatures are at least on par with the Alienware 17, but the G750 is likely quieter under load. I'm assuming that your results are with a good paste job.

Thanks a lot for your first review and post. Pics and videos would be great!

May you have a look for the model and manufacturer of the screen?

Is the bigger case also convenient if you work/game for more than 2 hours?

Thanks and enjoy your nice machine!

Are there 4 fans in the JH model as some people said? There's some strange quad-vents on the back, and I wonder why.

Could you do us a favor and find out what PANEL is build into the german JH model ? I'm asking because I have sent back 2x the JW version to notebook.de because of the ty CHI MEI panel they had and now I'm sitting on a 1.8k "coupon" waiting to get traded in xD
Is the panel super grainy ? Please slowly move a WHITE window over the screen and try to check if you see the "fixed dirty looking dots" on the screen, same goes with the fairy dust like colored pixels all over the screen when you move your head.. happens only on bright colors ofc

    thanks a lot !

    Killian pics please :)

And please run AS SSD or similar ssd speed test on that ssd drive, thank you.

I really liked my G750 it was so cool running and silent. Even gaming. I think Asus has a real winner and if the 780M is quite in the JH then that's great.

The JX review on notebookcheck was rated very high. I expect the JH to be even better in that regard. Also that CHI MIE super matte screen while a little grainy i found was super bright. I mean really bright on max brightness. I was almost double the brightness of my GT60's screen on max. That I do miss.

Would be great if someone with a g750jh could take a screenshot of cpu-z [mainboard tab], really interested in the result of the revision 04 or 05, which indicates the c1 or c2 stepping, so can find out if the hardware usb3 bug has been fixed.

    Thanks in advance.

Why would that bug bother you? It's so minor, it's not really an issue. If the USB stick stops responding after wake, you just replug it. That's why Intel chose not to fix all the first Haswell motherboards.

Man, I'm feeling a bit jelaous of all you JH owners, but I'm still satisfied with my 770m, I don't really notice the difference between ultra and high in games like Max Payne 3. But still, the JH is a beast! Can't wait for some reviews! Congrats on your purchases guys!

There is only a preview of the JX, the Review (88% Place 1 in Gaming notebook) is about the JW.

I hope soon there will be reviews of the JX (3D if possible) and the JH.

Okay guys. Here is the next information-package:

First a made a short video during heaven benchmark. With sound on 50/100 volume and without sound. Gives a quite good impression of the noise level an the height of the notebook:

Asus G750JH GTX 780m first look - heaven benchmark - YouTube

Regarding the Panel. It is a Chi Mei Panel (1720). I did what you wanted with the white window but did not see any grey shadows or anything. In my oppinion it is not grainy but that is very subjective. It is a flat not a brilliant display so its normal that is look a little bit grainy if you compare it with a brilliant display.

I also did an SSD Test. 1000 Points. See attachment

And finally i did a screenshot of the CPU-Z Mainboard Tab.

Thanks for the video and screens. SSD speed looks fine for a stock shipped single drive. Its seems very quite. My GT60 running that would be making quite a noise with the single fan at about 80%. What were the temps like? Please run HWMonitor :)

I did a complete Heaven benchmark on extreme preset with max tesselation, AA and so on to stress the GPU. And took a picture of HWMonitor at the end of the benchmark. Fan noise was the same as in my video above. It is really quiet. See attachments for the results.

And now, i'm gonna play with it ^^ I have to redownload Battlefield 3 :-/

Those benchmarks and temperature readings look very nice, looking forward to purchasing my own G750JH soon.

An interesting note is that the 120hz 3D panel comes as standard on Taiwan's SKU (G750JH-0041A4700HQ) at 82700NTD - the cheapest online price I've been able to find so far.

I bet they do the review and it gets over 90% score, cooler and quieter than the competition, and should beat them out in games with no throttling + overclocking headroom. (230w power supply and great cooling)

The only con for people will be the price: $2,000/2,500/3,000/3,500 which I believe is fair for what you get.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to give us the details! the cpu temps are amazing, so is the noise :)

sadly its still the same ol panel, I know a lot of users have no problems with it but I'm probably spoiled by my 6 years old LG tft loool. The grainy CHI MEI is nothing for me :/ ...waiting for the 120Hz Panel then ... hopefully coming out soon ..

damn I want that laptop now :D :D

Another German model I take it? Please post a mini review if you can on the system.

@Killian with those temps you will be able to max that GPU core out +135Mhz easy. And that does help give a boost in FPS for taxing games like Metro LL or running games with ultra settings. The 780M loves to OC. Honestly wouldn't worry about VRAM overclocking. Very liitle gains made. I can add 500Mhz+ on my 780M card but the core alone is where the best gains are.

The the supplied JH PSU 230W? Or 180W? If its the 230W thats even better as my GT60 hits its 180W limit and then uses the battery when it passes 180watts.

I ve finally got that Beast ....

Its awesome ... but i had to disassemble it allready... because my GPU side fan made noises....

The fan is taped to the Heatsink i think to be "airtight"... and the tape on the underside wasnt properly fittet and reached into the Fan-Wings... that coused the noise...

The Fans are not argressive enough .... my Cpu goes up to 70°C but as soon as the fans start to work the Temperature Drops down to 40°C

sry for my bad english ..

Does anyone know whether accessing the already installed RAM (which is not near the disk drives) on this machine voids the warranty?

If it's anything like G750JX (99% sure it is) then it will void the warranty, since I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to open up the palmrest. You'd need to take it out to access the slots, and you'd need to detach the lid from the body to be able to take the palmrest out.

edit: I am however quite sure that you can send the laptop + ram so the asus guys can install them for you.

Does anyone know what the percentage of haze on the stock screen is?

I think you can disassemble the laptop to replace the Ram, replace wireless card, clean the fans, or re-paste the thermal paste, etc.
I talked with an Asus representative and that was acceptable as long as you wouldn't damage anything.
In other words, when sending the laptop for warranty, just make sure to put everything back to original condition. So do whatever you want but don't damage anything and you are good to go. :D
