That CHI MEI is horrible looking in those pictures. You didn't modify that photo in any way? I am really glad that my GT60 came with an LG Display model LP156WF1-TLF3. I think its beautiful. Great colors, good contract and viewing angles.

Any JH owners mind posting a video on youtube with BF3. In the video please have a very viewable OSD with all CPU core temps, GPU temp, cpu/gpu usage, and gpu and cpu clocks. I would like to see how it performs/clocks. Also are you able to OC the 4700HQ at all with Intel XTU? How far can you OC with afterburner?

I liked my chi me I screen in my g750jx. It did not look like that picture however. That's faulty for sure. I found the c.m panel to be super bright. Its way brighter than my lg in my gt60.

Like Tallon, interested too in seeing now how the 780m overclocks in the JH with the 230watt PSU.

So, with great excitement, I opened up my new machine. A stock unit, but upgraded with a 840 Samsung SSD. I'm upgrading from a 5 year old unit, but it was a 18.4" Sony with dual drive bays and multiple SSD's with Raid - which cost me almost $4,500 at the time. I really didn't want to go down to a 17" screen, but what choice did I have??

Anyway, the build quality of the Asus and the look and feel of the machine is superb. Lots of attential to detail.

Stupid preinstalled software, which shouldn't be there in the first place.

The aluminum keyboard/palm rests look beautiful, as long at you do not touch it. I think they could have done better.

Very quiet. I don't play games, but in general use, you have to put your ear the computer to hear anything. It is also very cool.

BUT, the screen is really annoying. It is like there is a cheap screen protector on there, but when I take my nail to the edge to peel it off, there is nothing there. I had to try a couple of times, because I thought I just wasn't catching the edge, but I finally figured out that there was no plastic film that had to be removed - bummer. Compared to 5 year old Sony, well, there really isn't a comparison. I understand that my Sony was a much more expensive computer, but 5 years later???????? You put them next to each other, and difference is astounding. I bought the Asus because, from my research, it appeared to be the best out there for what I needed, and wasn't particularly concerned about the price, so I should not have to feel that my new computer was built for a particular price point. There is slightly less glare on the Asus compared to the Sony, but it is slight, and glare was never problem anyway.

Now, I am not saying that I am not happy with the computer, or that I would not buy the exact same computer even if I saw it first (except for the screen, this is a really nice computer). However, there is no question that the display is not very good.

If I was planning to buy one of these, I'd do so through a reseller, so I could pay for an AUO screen upgrade. ASUS seems to be using mediocre at best panels, which is surprising given how expensive the laptop is.

I think the key is to go to best buy and take a look at the display first, and then make a decision. There is no best buy near me, so I had to buy sight unseen. I read some of the complaints about the screen before I ordered, but I figured that they were just overly picky gamers, and I don't play games. But they were right.

I find it weird that there are so many variables in the same model. I have the Samsung 120 hz 3D diplay on my JX and it is the brightest most crisp display I ever saw on a computer - by far.

the more I read about the matte panel issues, the more I feel like I dodged a bullet by getting the 3D model which is glossy (something I was NOT expecting when I opened the box)

First and quick feedback for my G750jh:

    positive:

    overall build quality
    noise
    speed (SSD/GPU)
    overall set-up
    screen brightness

    negative:

anti-reflection coating grainy, the screen is just good enough to not return the notebook, but be warned I have some very good screens at home, so competition is tough.
    viewing angles (bloody TN screens)

wished Asus would have upgrade to IPS oder PLS here.

I've had to delay my flight back to Taiwan because of work, but I think somewhere around 65-70,000NTD would be fairly reasonable - 60,000NTD is a little extreme.

which has a better cooling and a lower system noise when under load? A sager or this one? Assuming both with the Nvidia 770M.

If anyone has an answer regarding both laptops with an Nvidia 780M instead, that would be more ideal.

    Thanks.

Long story short. Friend has it. I did someone a favor and it back fired. We swaped orders you see. When I imported two notebooks from the US. And in the end they were not happy with the swap. So I got the GT60 back. But in the process of fixing its issues.

My week with the G750jx was good. Overall a great machine. Like some mention the screen is the real only issue I saw. Or lack of upgrades if you like that. Screen is a super matte. However dispute this its one of the brightest I've ever used on a notebook. I was quite happy with it. Maybe some are worse than others? Could be a mixed bag. Much like the MSI GT series idle fan noise. Down to luck.

If your after a 780M or 770M Go with the Asus I say. A real winner for the price.

    Edit:

The Asus hands down. Unless you have a super dusty carpet environment and plan to keep it for 2 years. The Sagers you can clean easy. Asus, no..

Please download Asus GPU tweaker or MSI Afterburner and O/C the 780M and report on temps and how well it went. You should be able to do 100+ Mhz on the GPU core with no issues. Even the software 135 max.

I am looking to upgrade to the 750 from my current Vaio F23. Disappointing that they chose a garbage panel for what looks to be an otherwise solid product.

One question I have for the owners is about the keyboard. I love the keyboard on the my Vaio, and do quite a bit of writing so it's vital I have a good one. How many of you have experienced missed strokes? There seemed to be a number of reviews on newegg referring to this problem.

I type a lot and i haven't had any missed strokes that I could notice. The keys require a tiny bit more pressure to depress than the ones on my Envy 15 do but rebound better.

    Some more remarks:

Wireless works fine (some people reported problems with the JX and JW models)

Anti-reflection coating is only really annoying with white background. In games it is no problem.

Color temperature is rather cold, I am not used to this, will calibrate the display once back from business trip. Photos appear too light at the moment.

No visible backlight bleeding, which I appreciate.

The display is definitely not garbage, but but coming from calibrated MVA and IPS screens, it is a step back. People used to TN will probably not complain a lot.

Really happy about the noise, very silent for such a powerful notebook.

Not sure I will immediately over clock it, Maybe some tests, when I am back.

if you r asking because you want to upgrade to 120Hz display forget it .... there are 2 places for the display to plug in on the mainboard ... but at one there is no connector soldered in ....

and you will be missing that ir sensor for 3d vision

    Hello
I'm from Germany my English is not so good. I use the Google translator.

    I have an ASUS G750JH

How can I the GTX780m with Afterburner overclock more as +135 mhz? Currently I have set in Afterburner +135 / +700 mhz.

Can I overclock the CPU too? If so, how? How can I adjust the CPU and GPU benchmarks always run at maximum clock?

    Temperatures are very good.

    3d Mark 06 about 27000 points

    Greetings from Germany

I am really interested in this computer, but I am worry about the display. I have an injury making me very sensitive to bad displays(getting headaches, motion sickness etc). On my desktop I use a Samsung PLS display, which I love, but the matte non-3D screen seems horrible, according to several people getting it. Anyone have any input on the 3D matte, the non-3D glossy and 3D glossy?

Don't know how to get anything other then non-3D matte though, thats the only option available in my country, and haven't found any keyboard replacement for my language(Swedish layout). Should I just go for a Alienware mx14/mx18 (I would rather get the Asus) ?

Welcome to the forum. If you know how to flash a video bios you can edit the 780M bios with svet's bios editor here: Svet's Fermi/Kepler VBIOS Tuner - [ver: 2.53t] Use GPU-Z to save the Asus 780M vbios.

Then using this app (Donation required) You can remove the software 135 MHz limit. Then flash the bios with nvflash.

700 Mhz + on the ram is nice. Best I can do on my 780M is +550 Mhz stable. 135+ clocks might require some over volting of the core. It does in my case. But I also have a 180w PSU.

Can you run please run 3dmark11 with your overclock? Can post the results link here?

There is no way of extending the clock limits without vbios flashing so if you don't want to do that +135 is all you will get.

You could try a different version of XTU. Version 3.2 forward should all work fine for Haswell. I wonder if Asus has their system locked down and not allowing support for XTU. Wouldn't surprise me actually with how locked down they want their systems to be from user tuning.

The matte screen is NOT horrible.

It is bright and on my notebook it has no backlight bleeding. Contrast is very good.

On the other hand: a bit too grainy with white backgrounds, but in games it is ok. Cold color temperature too cold. (will calibrate next week). TN viewing angels - if you are used to TN no problems here.

With version 3.2 I get the same error message

How far can you overclock the the GTX780m? Is in there a lot more than +135 mhz?

+135 MHz is still a nice overclock. If I want to go over that on my 780M I have to increase the voltage. And really its not worth it in terms of gain. Give you more heat and more stress on the GPU components.

But with 500+ Mhz on the ram and 135+ core it will give you a good 5 or more FPS in games on ultra setting. If that means keep frames closer to 60fps all the time its definitely worth the software OC

You can contact your local ASUS support centre to see if they can replace the keyboard for you.

Otherwise you may just have to buy Sager or Alienware...

No problem for graphics, but the bespeckelment is quite distracting when reading text. I do a lot of work with text, so I am very disappointed with the screen. The only other time I had seen a screen with that effect was when I saw an iPhone with a Matt screen protector. I immediately asked what was wrong with the screen, but the owner did not know what I was talking about. So, some people appear to be more sensitive to the effects of Matt screens. Maybe if you bought a Matt screen protector for your phone, you could see if that type of screen bothers you. They only cost a buck or so, but you may need to look around as most screen protectors are glossy.

    @Portbarton

I agree, the effect is the worst when reading text with white background. Reminds me of an Dell IPS display I bought in 2006 also with an aggressive anti-reflex coating. Replaced that only one year later by an Eizo Display. But this is not an option here, the other qualities of the G 750 make up for this, especially the low noise for much power.

I can't believe how long it's taking them to release the JH model and hoping that it comes in a non SSD model cause the $2499 price tag I have been seeing makes me want to look at a Dual GPU Sager then a single 780m.

Anyone know when the g750 models with 3d display are available? My Asus G750 jh with Chmei CMO1720 its terrible. Total grainy, bad colours, and its too dark. I sent my back, the display is in my opinion for 2000 euro crap. It looks like a display from the last century ;-) :-(

Hello G750jh owners - i need some advice. Currently i'm running a g73jw which already comes to age. I'm considering buying a 750jh, but after reading the first feedbacks here it seems the display is "not that perfect" as all other things around this nice laptop, bacuase of the "grainy effect". Will the g73jw display still better as the g750jh? Honestly speaking i have no clue which display is assemnled in g73jw model...

Thanks in advance or any feedback!

I had the G73jw. The Display was very better as the Chimei One, little grainy only. Bute Definitely better.

But the best Display i've ever seen, was in my G75VW 3D. It was an LG. Very Good brightness (~400cd/m2), high contrast and beautiful, rich colors. And despite matted design not grainy.
This is the reason, why i can't wait for the 3D Version of ASUS G750JH. When you use this Display every day, you won't ever change "back".

The Chimei Quality of my ASUS GH750JH compared to this 3D Display is absolutely modest.

The Technical Data of the Chimei looks very good, but in Reality i did not like the Quality. Is my opinion.

i didn't hear until know, that there ist G750JH with other display manufacturer than the Chimei (Model CMO1720 Hardware ID).
