I'd like to see a cheaper 780M SKU that ships with no SSD, so I could include my own.
-
They will probably have some different SKUs months down the road without SSDs but im sure they will still be north or just slightly of $2000.
Having 3 models this time is going to get a bit messy but id venture to guess that first one will go to Bestbuy with the 765m. -
The 780M model seems a bit expensive, sure you get a lot of laptop but it still seems like it's more than it should be or at least more than what I wan't to spend
-
Yeah Asus seems to go from reasonable to extreme in no time flat in terms of their pricing models.
They should make a $1700 model with a 780m and 8gigs of RAM,750gb HDD so people can do their own upgrades but they are hammering people into the ground with the upgrade fees and its terrible.
When i got my first G73 with the 5870m in it that was value and performance which could not really be matched at the time for $1500ish dollars and it came loaded more or less. -
$2500 is walking AW M17x territory, but I'm with you Quad make a more affordable base model with 780M and let those that want to do upgrades be able to do them themselves.
I'm leaving all my options open whether it's ASUS,CEVO,MSI or AW they all are putting out great new laptops. -
Yeah there is going to be some great choices this year from all of them and also some long needed redesigns coming from Alienware.
I would personally wait till all the chips are down to decide then weigh all the pros/cons which i am sure you will end up doing anyhow.
No need to rush into anything especially if you already have a nice machine to get you through the first couple months. -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
Im wondering if samsung is going back with the series 7 gamer, they launched it with a 6970m, but afterwards only models with a 675m or 7870m were to be found last year I hope they are back in town, more competition may give us better designs buids
-
It's nice to have a lot of options. -
I want even more. with 256 or 512gb ssd with gtx780. Seems odd to have 256gb at cheaper version but 128gb at expensive version.

The SKU that cost $2499 includes SSD and 24GB DDR3 RAM. So a SKU without SSD and with 8GB Im sure we can get it for $2100 perhaps

New image of the G750JH:
Looks great - if I can get one for cheaper than the new Alienware's with the same or better specs, I'm totally in. I hope I can customize one to have:
- Intel i7 4700HQ @ 3.4Ghz
- NVIDIA GTX 780M
- SSD Boot Drive (128GB or so)
- 750GB-1TB Storage Drive
- 1080p Screen (Of course)
- Bluray if Money Left Over
-
I just wish ASUS would actually release some sensibly specced machines for once. Enough for this 780M with 24GB of RAM for $2,500. Give me a a 780M with 8GB of RAM for $2,100 or something, and I'll be happy. Better yet, sell me one without the RAM, hard drives, optical drive, WiFi card, and OS, and I'll buy one in a heartbeat.

Does anyone happen to know the dimensions of the G750? Can't seem to find it.
-
Dimensions of Asus G750 is 420 x 320 x 52 mm, weight – 4.5 kg.
The source of this information is Gaming Notebook Asus G750 specification and photos « BDPlay.Com – Your Life Your Way to Play It… and I'm not sure if it's true, but that's all I was able to find. -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
one thing I found interesting is that the touchpad gestures are extremely equal to the ones that apple uses for example the 3 finger slide -
-
I'm pretty sure that was sarcasm
The weight is about the same as my G71 (if those figures are correct)
I guess some things don't change?

So there wont be easy access to the fans anymore?
-
-
-
Seems that Asus is an exhibitor at COMPUTEX TAIPEI, under the category of 'Notebook Computer.' Seems we'll be learning more on the 4th, so not too far off.
-
-
it was a low % of chance people had this problem. the fan also weren't as powerful as their old G-Series (especially the g74SX) fans were more wide and big. thus the cooling was much much better even with the lack of the new tech (kepler heat reduction etc)
I might be wrong, maybe there will be different models for it.
the g75VX will probably have the ability to upgrade the card MXM from the G750 (let's hope the card has the same size dimension if not thinner) The G75VX has more Volts juice left over compared to it's G75VW (due to the 670MX)
as soon as the G750 comes out. we will Dfntly see the G75 becoming the new "G73" in terms of modding, and upgrading the GPU. since the card is MXM 3.0 I think? if not 2.0 which will still work with future ASUS 2.0 MXM cards (on their new laptop) -
And there's only a cover for the 2 hdds and ram -
All that horsepower and all the models have 5400 rpm hard disks? What's the point? As a guy who works with video, that's incredibly disappointing.
I suppose it would be possible to switch out the HDDs with something better, but that tacks on more money. It seems like they're cutting corners. I was considering upgrading this year, but I guess I'll have to see if my G73 can hold out for another year. -
Waiting for G750JH with a non-SSD and 8GB RAM version,my budget is not so much, but i strongly like a 780M GTX in my machine.
if G750 is still lack of a standard MXM3.0 port,780M is the best option for a long-term use -
So, it's confirmed there are models without a SSD and 8 GB of RAM with the 780M? Hopefully, that'll cut down on a ridiculous price tag. No SSD and just 8 GB of RAM already saves several hundred $.
-
No, there is no confirmation of that yet. But I'm hoping that there is a model I can get with 8 - 16 GB of RAM, 128GB SSD, 750GB HDD, and a 780M for $2200 - would that be so hard?
Judging by the number of variances in the current G75 line, I don't think it'd be so hard for them to prove a low/mid/high tier for each model. (They seem to be trying, but the gaps between each are much too large...) -
I agree. When I was looking into buying the G75VX, I noticed there was basically an extra $400-500 just for them to put in the SSD and RAM. The G750 would totally be a good buy if it had the option for a bare minimum system.
-
-
-
-
Yeah it will go $1250 for the 765m version and the basics to $2500 for a 780m,SSD and whole lot of RAM you dont need or even want.....
Who ever came up with they're pricing structure needs to be fired.
They take the term "sticking it to the man" to a whole new level.
 -
Now that ASUS is back to putting the fastest mobile GPU inside its flagship gaming notebook, will it ever return to the same excellent pricing and affordability it had with the G73JH? I remember you could get the top-of-the-line G73JH-A1 configuration for $1600-$1700 when it first came out which is a far cry from the $2500 current asking price for the top G750JH SKU. Hell, I got the G73JH-BST7, which was the cut-down Best Buy SKU, for $750 refurbished two years ago back when the Mobility 5870 was still among the fastest notebook GPU's. Now not only are they charging more for the basic configuration but they're also significantly cutting down the GPU from 780M to 765M.

-
Some new pictures (I think).
Here is the full specifications Google Translate
-
One thing to notice though: On the information page, it lists it with 16GB of RAM, instead of the 24GB we saw before - I'm assuming the price wont be as high as we saw it before. (Thank god) We'll have to see. It'll decide whether I get an M17x R5 of G750M. -
And no keypad. A few more days to COMPUTEX, I hope we get new info then!
-
Thanks SoulMisaki. Didn`t notice that.
Well atleast we have the specifications. I`m positive we will see SKUs with 8,16 or 32GB DDR. With SSD and without. -
-
Some resellers might also offer you to remove things like RAM and the SSD to shave off some money initially but that does not generally equate to a price that would be the same as what Asus would charge for the basics machine .
It is very hard to predict right now if there will be a SKU with a 780m and not much else because historically Asus's higher end G7x machines like the 3d ones stayed overpriced till they were outdated and never had options for other SKUs.
Lastly anyone who would be waiting say 4-6 months for Asus to come up with a low end SKU with the 780m will certainly have purchased another computer by then since there is no way of knowing if that special model will ever exist at all.
You could be waiting for nothing.......... -

Makes me wonder if the 700 line is worth the extra money. In most games, the 780 just performs about 20% better than the 680. The 770 and 765 seem to perform worse! I hope these benchmarks are just premature... -
-
Disregard their average calculations. They are wrong.
We went through all their games they tested and calculated the correct difference between GTX 680M and GTX 780M.
GTX 780M is 30% faster than GTX 680M based on all the 28 games.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/gaming-software-graphics-cards/718021-i-m-upgrading-you-gtx-780m-review-inside-61.html#post9216441 -
Now the question is...how much is that extra 30% worth?
The 680M was worth a really pretty penny for about 50% more performance, I think.
-
now of course we are talking about non-DX11. usually or realisticly when they say it's about 30% "faster" it means it will perform better frame rates refreshes. so I assume it would be 10 fps increase and constant lets say 50 on crysis 3
