They do not ship outside of Switzerland, and no Swiss electronics stores that I know of does either... you have to be in the country to buy it. The machine of course has a Swiss keyboard, which is different from any other in the world as it has to have French, German and Italian symbols.![]()
It is a well-known and legitimate store that frequently has the best online prices in Switzerland. it is very cheap here for most technology, cheaper than anywhere else in Europe I think.
-
I was looking at that model last night. I wonder if we could get Xotic to price match it?
-
Don't hold your breath, I mean you could ask but.....I think price matching is with other domestic prices not different countries.
That is a great price . -
The asus G751jy at 2096.96$ CAD on this website (legit website) only two in stock :-/

Now, let's get Xotic to match that Swiss price.....
-
That works out to 1750chf (EUR 1468), with an SSD... insanely cheap!
EDIT - Must be tax or something on top, right? -
Friends, somebody plz tell me is this the price which is Before Sale Tax ?? Because some websites show that ..and then add sale tax at the time of Payment. Did any one of U actually bought the laptop from these canadian websites/Stores ? If Yes.. plz tell me Net amount U paid including everything.. be it online OR by a store .. Thnxxx ..
-
Would anyone be able to tell me the main difference between the G751 and G771? Does the former only have one version? Thank you.
-
I bought it from ncix.com. It's a legitimate site, with numerous physical stores as well. In Ontario Canada, we get charged tax on top of that. It came to $2400 ish Canadian, shipped to Canada.
-
G751 for gaming, G771 for multimedia. Ofc you can game on G771 and watch movies on G751. Basicly G751 has better spec, better cooling, better design and more expensive
-
Is there a spec breakdown fir G771 as all I can find is a spec breakdown for G751?
Also in terms of the screen on the G751 how is the colour reproduction, contrast, brightness on the unit and are there any issues with the IPS panel? -
5% tax only .. -> 2201.81 CAD with tax
-
I don't think you have to apologize. A lot of us are going to do what you are doing. If there is anything difficult, weird or any kind of problem, I would like to read about it.
@ d0r1n, if you don't want to read it, then don't. Don't assume the rest of us don't. -
The G751's owners have just received their machines so it's hard to say, but so far the IPS is awesone.
The G771 only come with 860m, G751 come with all 860m/970m/980m. -
Thanks Gunz05 for giving an exact Idea . Even for 2400 CAD its relatively cheaper than 2500 USD..... Happy Gaming !
-
BigDRim, you are awesome. Thanks a ton for the test.
This matches up with my SSD tests in my current machine exactly, and means that the G751 has a similar setup.
That setup being:
- 1 SATA III Bay for OS (PCIE / SSD)
- 1 SATA II Bay for Data (SSD / HDD)
- 1 SATA (?) Bay for Optical Drive (Likely SATA II or 1.5)
Hopefully this helps you guys with planning your systems! -
Yeah, I don't think any retailer actually does that. At least not that I know of...
That's racist =/ -
So basically in the SATA III slot I could put a 500GB Samsug Evo inside and run it at full speed https://shop.mediamarkt.ch/de/compu...samsung-840-evo-mz-7te500-500-gb/idp9m8ob6hk3
Then SATA II I could run my 1TB storage drive and allwould be good? -
Thank you for the clarification. I have read that the screen is awesome but every screen does have an issue or so, so I think this one will have an issue most likely.
-
Yes, you are correct. You of course wont get the full 550MB/s because that's a "Perfect Situation" number, but you should get very close - about 512MB/s - in normal use. (In Bay 1 of course)
Your max speeds in each bay should be:
- 512 - 550MB/s
- 260 - 270MB/s
- 150 - 160MB/s
-
I've asked to Xotic and they said that is not possible for them to do that.
Anyway I asked the guys at pcdiga.com and they were told by Asus that ETA @ Portugal is november, 14.
So, I cannot wait that long. Next 4th of november I'm going to be traveling, only returning in december, so I think I'm buying the GT72. -
Late arrival of the cheaper Asus SKUs made em lost alot of customers =/ I've seen 3 by only looking around this forum. Smart business planning, Asus.

I think it's already confirmed that you can't go wrong with any of them, both are top 2 in the best laptops in the world. So if you go with the GT72, I would like to know how much you loved it. Would love to hear some good word-of-mouth things from a MSI user, never really had any experience with the brand.
I'll be the first one to admit it: i'm an Asus fanboy. I really believe Asus is light years above all other brands i've ever tried, their build quality and reliability is second to none. So i'm pretty sure i'll go for a G751JT, and if I have to wait for one I will. -
Agreed. Why are they stiffling the release by almost a month? I would have bought mine already, and so would have many others - otherwise.
-
Hi there,
Can you please show me your communication with them? they said the following to me;
Hello,
The G751JY version to be available in Portugal will be:
-
The communication was in portuguese but if you want I can show it to you.
But like I said before, I asked them about the error in the model name (G750/G751), about the keyboard layout PT and the ETA.
"Bom dia,
O produto que refere tem um "erro" no nome, é um G751JY, novo modelo da Asus.
O teclado vem com Layout PT já que esta é a máquina OFICIAL a ser
comercializada no nosso País.
O produto ainda não está disponível para entrega, ainda não temos data
confirmada, mas deverá ficar disponível em Novembro.
Agradecemos a sua atenção." -
"Cheaper Asus SKUs" What you mean like MSI?
MSI GT72 - Newegg.com -
I wasn't doubting it, just makes me certain I will not purchase from them - misinformation is never a good sign. =)
-
Sorry if this is silly, but I am a bit puzzled regarding the G751. How many version are there exactly. As I have come across some articles on a couple of websites listing the screen as an Anti Glare LCD. Can anyone confirm if there is more than one version and if the IPS panel comes already in the purchase? Thank you.
-
An IPS screen is a specific LCD screen, all versions have a anti-glare IPS screen.
-

Please keep in mind these are just the models that ASUS is shipping out to America. Within each type, resellers and retailers can create their own "subtype." The models you've listed in your post are only true in terms of the build type (Slim vs. Thick), and the video cards & processors. Everything else can be changed by the retailer ordering them from Asus.
Example:
Newegg's G751JT-CH71 cuts the 256 GB SSD & Bluray Drive out of the DH72 and sells it for $400 less. I have yet to see this offered by anyone other than them and BH.
It's always best to check with whichever reseller you are buying from what models they stock and how they configure them. -
Guys, this is IMPORTANT!!
I've heard before the IPS panel is better for everything else, except gaming when compared to TN panels and I think that's true.
Look at this guy playing battlefield 4 in his Asus G751JT getting 110+ fps on high settings.
[Cowcot TV] Video Ingame ASUS G751 JT Nvidia GTX 970M Battlefield4
I may be seeing things, but for me it just doesn't look as smother as on this other video, in which a guy is averaging 50fps on his Asus G750JZ on ultra settings.
Battlefield 4 - Asus G750JZ - Nvidia GTX880m
The colors are more vivid on the IPS panel though, but smoothness is something very important to consider when playing games.
Again, it also may be caused by YouTube limiting the frames during recording, I don't know.
After this comparison I went back to the start point, deciding between Asus G751 or GT72. I still need to see some more gameplays with the G751 to decide with one to get. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It would be hard to show on a 30 FPS youtube video. It's not down to smoothness but blurring during very rapid motion.
-
Uhm, I think you're seeing things. If these are indeed captured on the computer like they seem like they are - the screen type doesn't even come into it.
How can the screen have an effect on what the computer is recording itself? The screen and what our eyes see doesn't come into it, because it's recording what is being sent to the screen for display.nohaybanda and Saa_Art like this. -
if you look at a recording of a IPS panel at a TN panel and think that's what the IPS looks like.... ......... It wil look like your TN panel.
Edit: oh ok
-
IPS screens are more prone to motion blur, depending on the screen of course.
-
Uhm, I see. Thank you for your answers. I'm glad to be wrong then
I just wanted to understand that as I still prefer the Asus G751
-
Keep in mind that IPS is a lot better for watching movies and reading content
Unless you plan on gaming 99% of the time where a teeny amount of motion blur will prevent you from winning Dreamhack then I'm sure you will prefer the IPS display. -
HazrD, now we can disable Motion Blur, save GPU/CPU cycles, and let the IPS screen do it for free
-
So, i'm a bit confused about the drive bays and such for the G751.
From the searching i've done i've that it has two regular HDD bays and from what i've seen on Newegg and Xoticpc i'm led to believe that there are two mSATA slots, along the the optical drive bay, is this correct?
Newegg "256 GB (2x128G RAID) SSD"
Xotic PC lists mSATA Slot 1 and Slot 2
Thanks for the help ahead of time! -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
There are two bays, either both can be 2.5" or one can be a PCI express M.2.
-
Ah, ok that clears it up then! Thanks!
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
No problem, I recommend an XP941 for the speed along with a 2TB HDD it's a potent combo.
-
but there is only room for one msata ? where is teh 2nd?

Can anyone who has the laptop check how easy/difficult it is to get to the battery? I mean batteries do need replacing some time or the other, I wanted to know that will it be user doable or will we need to send it to Asus.
-
You mean the BIOS battery?
In any case, I look forward for a teardown
-
It really does seem like an amazing laptop, I really don't regret my decision now.

LOL genius. Wait, for real?
