Yes, they are selling it. Just look at the website. I can't give any more info than the site can.

**** for anyone who cares (or hates newegg return policy like me) ****

Amazon has he Asus g751jt-ch71 up for sale. Sorry if this is late news. I live in California so I have to pay taxes so I got the laptop, the 3 year square trade warranty, and the tax for $1720.xx.

It is being sold by Amazon and as such is eligible for prime.

The discounted square trade alone is worth it. That three year warranty is normally $249 without discount.

It says ships in 2-3 weeks which would put it around that 11/04/14 release date. So barring the ch71 becoming available from xoticpc(no tax and better options) this is the way I'm going.

    My order is in, you?

Is that the 800 series version?

Nm, see its the 970m. That seems appropriately prices. The 980m version the offer there is stupid expensive for some reason.

Thank you again. For some strange reason I cant find the G751 on that website, the laptop that I come across is the G750. Maybe I am doing something wrong.

Thank you for the link. I am still a bit puzzled as how others have got it even cheaper from Canada. If I even think of purchasing from abroad I would want to make sure its the cheapest price possible.
I am also surprised about the price my friend has given me for this laptop over in Canada and also stated it is not in shops which I found a bit odd.

Seeing that Amazon now has the G751JT-CH71 up, I'm wondering what you guys think,

Should I cancel my order at Newegg.com and put it in at Amazon? I've had more experience with Amazon's shipping and apparently they have a much better return policy than Newegg.

    Any thoughts?

It would probably depend on which company you have an extra with i.e. Amazon Prime (fast free ship) or New eggs easy return one (Iron egg or something??).

I am wondering if there will be a run on these things at first, since $1,499.00 is hard to beat for a 970M, especially given the (believed to be IPS on CH71 too?) , 75X series cooling / quiet and solid build. Given that you have to dig a bit to see Amazon listing currently, and BH and New Egg were up sooner, the queue at Amazon is probably shorter. How many each one ordered, and how many each one was allocated, are of course different matters.

If I do not hear any info from the ASUS customizers in the next day or two (I will call) about an equivalent model, I will probably go Amazon. I just can't see ponying up the extra $400ish for a DH72 since I have a SSD sitting here waiting, and could care less about blue ray. Besides, I have Prime, plus Amazon Visa so +1 year 'warranty' for free, and I have like $20-$30 in bonus from using Amazon Visa on previous purchases. And, if you do not have one already, I think signing for the card itself gave something like $30-$50 too.

Okay, I have it narrowed down to the G751JT-CH71. I'm tempted to go with the G751JT-DH72 but it just doesn't feel right paying $400 more for a 256GB SSD. I'm telling myself I could add one to it on my own for cheaper than that if the bracket is in there or get my re-seller to add it for cheaper than that.

I figured it would be a nice jump from my current G74 since it is the "bottom of the barrel" Best Buy model from 2011 while still being decently priced. The only problem is that I upgraded my G74 with an SSD drive for the OS and once you've had one it's hard to envision living without it. :D

Some of us are along the same line of thinking. You can easily get double that capacity for almost the same price. Or move SSD from current laptop. This is what I'll be doing if I get the G751JT-CH71. Still trying to see if my plan to get the G751JY-DH73-CA from Canada will work. For about the same price as the G751JT-DH72 one gets 24GB AND 980M w/4GB. The 256GB SSD doesn't hurt at that point.

Just thought I'd let people know about this laptop.

I got it 2 days ago from NCIX. They are fairly large in Canada, have alot of stores in the Toronto area. Asus shipped it with the wrong plug. I called NCIX and they aready rush delivered a new one the next day. So their customer service is excellent.

Here is an image of the plug. Maybe someone can let me know where this was supposed to go.
    IMG_20141023_160851.jpg

    - The screen is excellent. Movies look great. (Although I'm so used to 120hz now I do see a huge difference)
    - It's quiet and runs extremely cool
    - Has really good build quality
    - Keyboard is really solid
    - Power brick is huge

My only issues are the plug that goes into the laptop is very small, and tends to fall out. As well as the blu-ray drive has an outtie button, rather than an innie. Not a big deal really, but everytime I pick it up the drive opens.

FYI anyone going to pick it up and has a lengthy drive home, open the box first. Asus did put a wrong plug in the box so it could save you some time.

If anyone wants it, and will pay shipping, its theirs. I'm just gonna wait until Asus makes a decision if they want it back or not.

As for the sound...I'm an audiophile myself. I have very expensive speakers for my home theatre, as well as just dedicated towers for music. So....lol. It's ok for a laptop, gets loud. Should easily drown out anything in the vicinity if need be, and wasn't too muddy. Although you really can't expect much from a laptop, nor should anybody. Like when shopping for a TV, I'm not sure why some people buy a TV over another based on sound. :)

I did plug some headphones into it, and it sounded great.

    Hope that helps.

What about sound quality? I've read it's loud and has also a decent subwoofer, but sound quality is at least near to the excellent (for a laptop) MSI's Dynaudio?

Couldn't really give you a comparison with the MSI or any other decent brand. It's definitely good enough, and shouldn't really deter you from buying it. I just don't like how there is a speaker on the bottom. I always prefer them to be front facing.

GUYS, Asus socks me again. The G751JY will be sold in Vietnam have the price of 2070usd (incl taxes)

Its spec is basicly 16gb ram - 128gb SSD - gtx 980m 4gb. I checked if they use good components and yes, wifi ac and all those stuff of the standard version. Cuz i live in a developing country so i guess that is the reason for the good price.

bigspin, a properly functioning Asus G750/G751 won't throttle, they cool themselves so they don't throttle.

That is why we buy Asus ROG Laptops, and not some mini-squished-sardine-can can't cool itself to stop throttling the CPU to save it's life, mini laptop.

The point of a high performance laptop is HIGH PERFORMANCE!

To sacrifice performance to make the box look like a Mac Book Pro is a waste of resources, potential, and time.

The Macintosh, even in the highest spec, is way deficient in performance compared to an ROG top spec laptop.

It turns out that when you put high performance parts in too small of a space, you end up not being able to run them faster than the Lower Performance parts Apple uses.

The Apple design for a laptop using the High Performance parts we want, running to their full potential, would be sized the same as an Asus ROG laptop.

    Gunz05, that looks great!

Did you know if you start hwinfo64 and select "Sensors Only" at start, you get a lot more cool info?

    hwinfo64 sensors view.JPG

hwinfo64 sensors view after resizing and scrolling.JPG

You will notice the Thermal Throttling lines that will show if the CPU enters thermal throttling during a run - as long as hwinfo64 is running and monitoring - and you can scroll up and down for even more info than is showing in that window above.

If you run Prime95 along with Furmark 15 minute Burn-in and monitor temps, please post - that is the max load on both CPU and GPU - unless you want to run another GPU test - Unigine Heaven - there are many.

We look forward to your results :)

I just replaced the existing mechanical drive with an SSD. You don't need anything special, just the SSD itself.

Looking at these two updates I'm wondering what's the difference between them. I couldn't find any info the web.
Does somebody know what's the difference between thermal monitor mechanism and thermal policy?

I guess thermal monitor is just for monitoring the temps and then sent info to make auto adjustments?

Demike, the only way you are going to get close to an answer, is to ask the guy(s) that wrote those updates. You can ask Asus to ask them, here:

    https://vip.asus.com

Register a login, register your Asus product, file a Technical Inquiry, and provide plenty of detailed info to make the answer needed clear.

Please come back and let us know what Asus says :)
