Hey soul, since JT-CH71 comes with only a mechanical hard drive, does the empty slot contain the 2.5 inch caddy?

You can order from a Canadian seller (like NCIX.com) that offers international shipping. Please note: for NCIX, international sellers must use PayPal, and PayPal does the currency conversion for you at their conversion percentage and fee schedule. The laptop is still a bargain compared to U.S. prices, but be aware you'll pay more than just the current CAD-to-USD conversion rate.

Hi guys new user of an g751jy, just recently finished with stress testing it with furmark and prime95. Is 79 degrees celsius max for the gpu and 95 degrees max for the cpu acceptable?

95°C for CPU is not acceptable. It should stay below 90°C. GPU is totally fine. BTW do you have i7 4860HQ model?

HWiNFO confirmed that your CPU is thermal throttled.
Did you installed the latest BIOS updates? if not update it and test prime 95 again. Make sure to restart hwinfo before you test. (don't do furmark test again). If it still throttling you might need to return your notebook . bad thermal paste job or defective heatsink. Because no one complained about overheat in this notebook

Your ambient is fine, so your temp result is just saying one thing "Return it". Looks like someone forgot to repaste the cpu.

Yeah, return it... That is too high for a CPU running at such a low frequency... Best place to buy a laptop IMO is from a reseller like Gentech or Xotic as they repaste everything for you with IC Diamond which is quite long lasting..

2nd time it seems to be alright. To reconfirm, install unigine valley and test again
Use prime 95 to stress CPU and use unigine valley (extreme setting) to stress GPU . run it 15-20min and check the temp. Make sure to reset/restart hwinfo before start your test

Bit higher than prime 95 only test but you are safe. If cpu temp go higher than 93°C it'll throttle, keep an eye on your temp. What's your Max GPU temp during the test?

Try to play BF4 @ ultra setting for an hour and monitor your temp.

As long as GPU/CPU temp stay below 92°C you are fine. Above that system will throttle and you'll lose performance.

cykelman, congrats on fixing the overtemp/throttling problem with BIOS 204 :)

Also good news is that Asus restored 35x multiplier in the CPU - as seen in your hwinfo64 monitoring output after the BIOS update to 204, 35x is showing.

In BIOS 203 the multiplier was reduced to 34x, requiring downgrading to BIOS 202.to restore 35x

PSA: G751 203 BIOS limits max turbo boost from 35x to 34x

Do you recall which BIOS you started on?

Guys just received my G751JT-CH71. Here are the test results:
    results.PNG

Now im stuck at transferring OS to SSD, The Asus backtracker successfully finishes creating the recovery but when i plug in the SSD in the same bay and restart it without the HDD the backtracker starts up but the first step where it says initializing hard drive it's stuck for 30 secs and gives the error message: Failed to recognize USB drive.

Well, after a few things went wrong with cloning my drive and I ended up needing a fresh install of windows - I've now gotten my computer to it's previous state, and I've transfered my files over.

Thing is, after doing a speaker test now - finally outside a mall, where I originally tested them - the sound is distinctly coming from only the subwoofer. If I make any level changes to the center/front/rear/subwoofer in the audio settings, only "front" makes any difference.

It makes the ONLY difference. (See: 0 = NO SOUND -> 100 = SOUND)

.... Any ideas for a fix?

Unsure if it has anything to do with this, but Device Manager has "Unknown Device" listed under "Other Devices"

You can download the latest one from Realtek and then HD Audio Codec which will work perfectly fine.
Make sure you have "Realtek High Definition Audio" in either Device Manager, or Audio Playback Devices menu instead of "High Definition Audio".

What do you mean by changed?

Which do I download? There are multiple listed under 6 channel - is that even right?

    I do have that.

Oddly enough, I also have two "Digital Audio (HDMI)" devices.

I think something got mixed up... But I have no idea how to fix it.

You said you were changing levels and the in built speakers did not change. If you plug in headphones or speakers do their levels get changed properly when you edit them?

you will have an hdmi audio device for each port capable of outputting audio and video.

The driver is universal, so it is correct.
Go to Digital Audio (HDMI)'s property, then go to Driver tab and determine who's the driver provider/manufacturer.

Levels change normally when on headphones, but this has shown me something.

    Untitled.png

When I plug in the headphones, this screen pops up - if I go back to its settings, and select a 5.1 surround sound setting for my options, it says I have no side speakers. When I run the test and it lights up the speakers in the image while playing a sound on them, the results are the following:
    • Left & Right Channels play through Subwoofer
    • All other channels (Center, Rear Left & Right, Subwoofer) fail and do not play a sound. (Though the ambient noise of it failing to play a sound can still be heard from the subwoofer)

Before you recommend it, deselecting "Swap Center / Subwoofer Output" does nothing.

Both controllers for those devices are "High Definition Audio Device" by Microsoft.

UPDATE: MY SPEAKERS ARE NOT DEAD.

I decided that as a last ditch resort, I would delete all audio drivers in device manager and reboot, essentially forcing "general use" microsoft drivers to take the place of the old ones. It worked, but there are now 3 "Speaker"-labeled "High Definition Audio" devices listed under sound. Two of them are listed as connected, and after playing the test tone, one of them is for the two rear speakers, and one of them is for the subwoofer. The last "device" is labeled speakers, but is "disconnected." (I think it's the thunderbolt port)

    Untitled2.png

(The top "speaker" is the back speakers, the bottom "speaker" is the subwoofer.)

What driver do I install to combine the two working "devices"?

    Can I even do so?

It turns out that installing the audio drivers from the ASUS site will always push the sound through the subwoofer instead of using all three like it should. After another attempt, I have found out that to get windows drivers to detect both speakers - main set and subwoofer - I need to uninstall the devices and delete the driver data that Realtek installed. So at least now I know how to get back to a semi functional state.

Now are there any ideas about what the problem is that is causing this, and how to get my speakers + subwoofer to work together again?

can some1 explain this to me, I don`t get it... so how come the ASUS has a max of 4 and MSI has 8 on the same 980 card ?
does this mean MSI will run better 99% of the 2014+ games ?

at 1920x1080 you not really gonna see any difference in 4GB vs 8GB. I will try find something to back up that statement, but from what I have seen in general that type of memory usage is only when you are using MUCH higher resolutions, like 4k for example.

some would say that Asus have kept the cost down by keeping it to 4GB, and I agree. 8GB is a waste.

I am confused. Xoticpc stated that the g751jy has 2x m.2 ssd in raid0 (+ 1 tb hdd). ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVUGGFX4Bx0 at 2:40). I asked my reseller and they said it comes with one 256 gb ssd + 1 tb hdd (ASUS G751JY-T7103H).

My question is, did xoticpc get this wrong, or does this laptop have 2 slots for m.2 or only 1 (the one showed in their video). I know there are some different versions of this laptop, but the motherboard should be the same on all of them, right? If there are 2 slots for m.2 and 1 slot for hdd, the 256gb ssd should be preinstalled in the slot thats not available for us, shouldnt it? That leaves 1 slot open if thats the case :)

Does anyone else have any idea how I can fix my speakers?

    Split Setup.png

Is there anything else I can do about this?

I'm currently sitting around with a system that can use either the main speakers or subwoofer, but not both in tangent. I want to fix this. I have labeled both and both produce sound fine, I just can't seem to get them to work together.

I am unsure if it is related, but under "Other Devices" in Device Manager, I have something called "Unknown Device" which has the following status: "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) There are no compatible drivers for this device."

I do not know if this is related to the speaker issue or completely separate.

Just received G751JY-T7103H from dustinhome.dk. The power supply burst the fuses in my apartment. Gave it an second try and the power supply gave high pitched sounds.

I can confirm that the model is with a normal ssd and not a M.2.

Just wanted to share my experience.
