Hmmm..not recommending using that power supply . it might cause more serious damage than burst fuse

    Now I'm even more confused. According to webhallen.com (swedish reseller) it is a m.2 ( ASUS G751JY-T7103H 17,3" Full HD / i7-4710HQ / 16GB / 1TB+256GB SSD / GTX980M / Win 8 + Voucher - Gaming - Bärbara datorer - WEBHALLEN.com). Exact same version number of the laptop too.

Just make sure to let them know PSU issue. Otherwise seller might repack it and sell it to unsuspected customer.

Sorry I still don't have the notebook so can't help you.

Reseller probably listed the wrong spec. Usually box spec is correct.

What is up with the raid0 talk then? Xoticpc said in their video that they thought that the second ssd was hidden. Are you certain that all g751jy has 1x m2 ssd slot and 1x hdd slot (if you remove the m2 you can fit a second hdd too).

Welll.... You did clean Windows install, right? Was it working when you first got it? Cause if it was, then it looks like you didn\t install some software, that you might think is bloatware, and that is the reason for this mailfunction...
It also might be that problem with speaker wiring that someone mentioned earlier in this thread.

Well, it can't be speaker wiring, since right now I can send sound to both my main speakers and the subwoofer. I just can't have them work together because windows sees them as separate devices. (Pre-Realtek Audio Driver)

I've just re-installed all drivers listed on the G751JT support page, and I am finishing off with the Realtek audio driver. If it works, I will get proper sound from all 3 sources. If it doesn't, I will get sound only through the subwoofer again.

Just so I can make sure, which driver might I think was bloatware that could impact the speakers like this? ASUS only lists a single driver under Audio. Also, should I uninstall the general use Windows "High Definition Audio Device" drivers before I install Realtek's drivers?

I swear if this doesn't work... I'm back to square 1.

    hold on a sec here
you do not need totouch anything in Device Manager
when installing Realtek drivers, do you get ROG Audio as well? If so - go to profiles, choose one, and play with sliders. See if that helps.

P.S. Which Windows version did you install?/?

After installing Realtek Drivers in the past, it also installs a program with dials and an equalizer, it's an Audio Wizard or something. There's also an audio thing which you can see in my thread that pops up when I plug in my headphones, but when I use the 5.1 sound test on that, it wouldn't work in the past. (Explained in more detail on the thread.)

I installed and am running Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit.

Let me know when I should install the Audio Driver.

I don't currently have it, I need to install the drivers from the ASUS G751JT support site.

Should I do now that I've installed all other drivers and updated the BIOS?

what other drivers??? You know, there is two types of ROGers here:
    1. the ones that never install Asus drivers and looking for the latest elsewere (even though it is not supporter=d yet) Usualy ARE the ones with all kinds of problems
    2. the ones that use Asus support site (exept Video drivers)and have almost none.

    Decide who you with first.

I wabt your speakers to work as much as you do.

Like I have stated multiple times. "From the ASUS G751JT Support Site" I have only ever gotten the drivers for this machine from ASUS.

I have gone there, downloaded the BIOS updates, applied them successfully, downloaded all drivers from top to bottom on that page, installed, or uninstalled/installed all of them in that exact order, and I have saved Audio for last.

What I am asking now is: Should I go ahead and install the Audio Driver now, or is there anything I may be missing?

    It didn't work.

It's pushing audio only through the subwoofer, again.

(I now have ROG Audiowizard and Realtek Audio Manager programs, but that doesn't do much with the speakers the way they are.)

I'm heading to work - I'll fiddle with it tonight in 10 hours and tomorrow morning....

    Ugh.

I'll maybe purchase my G751 next year. I'm hearing so many issues from so many people, i'll wait for ASUS to do something about it. If they do, which i'm sure they will.

notebookreview is just a small % of laptops being bought. and look at how many people are having issues. Yes i was going to buy one but before the quality control issues came in due to the warranty only being 1 year in australia now not 2 years. Glad i held off and waited to see some reviews.

frysie, there are always production issues in the first shipments, this isn't any different for other manufacturers, even Apple.

The only fault that mattered was fixed by a BIOS update - high temps under load on the G751JY, fixed in BIOS 204.

The rest of the issues are cosmetic to the core function of the laptop

Unfortunate, but easily fixed - not a one has been a reason to return to seller, even the broken speaker leads - that is easily fixed on a quick RMA and you can work around it at first if you don't want to be in the first wave to RMA... also a consideration.

And, you can return to the seller if you want to opt out of the initial cutting edge wave of excitement :)

The bad pixels reported have been worked out over time, there are ways to massage them out too, all long term fixes - I have had them on DELL, Alenware, Toshiba, HP, etc etc.

If you feel you need to wait then please keep it to yourself for now, there are plenty of useful input from new owners that need help, or have cool new info to share - the positive helpful stuff we all need right now.

Speculations on failures, or "wow am I lucky I didn't order" emails are unnecessary, and in bad taste in the form of reveling in the suffering of others.

Those of us waiting for shipments to our region to arrive, and have a long history of seeing this issues, don't need to be told to wait, and neither do the others skiddish on their own from not knowing how to respond to early production problems.

As a percentage, there is a far larger percentage of perfectly good G751's shipping, likely greater than 95%. It is possible you will get a G751 that needs help, but a far higher percentage chance of getting a perfectly good one.

You really should jump in and buy one, it will be the best laptop you have ever owned - until the next one from Asus :)

neokill175, yes, it is a great time to buy. You need to order it as soon as you see it in stock, don't wait now, or you might wait for weeks or months before you see another one. It has happened to me. Don't wait.

In user support forums, you will always see an overwhelmingly high percentage of failures, as that is why most people seek out these forums - to get help / support from other users for a problem they are having.

When you get a good one, please come back and let us know about it, don't be shy :)

Yes please do have a look at how many people are having issues... After seeing so many people concerned about all of the issues the G751s are having I was concerned about QC levels as well so I went and read EVERY SINGLE POST since they started shipping from this forum, the ROG forums, Newegg/Amazon/etc reviews to validate these statements. What I saw is a few people that had hardware issues or a DOA box and many more people complaining about the massive amount of issues with the laptop...

It is like an echo chamber, one guy starts to complain about so many issues from a small handful of post then everyone hops on board parroting the same. I seem to recall FOUR people reporting issues from all the sources I could find... I promptly ordered my unit after that.

Feel free to duplicate my efforts and correct my count, I don't claim it is accurate though am confident it is close; I was just reading through to get a sense of the scope of issues encountered and saw there was only a nominal portion of users reporting issue and was of no account.

The asus machines are tweaked for noise over temperature at idle so they do idle a little higher than others, your load temperatures are much more important.

Everyone is saying their G751JY is soooo quiet .. I'm not experiencing that with mine.

Playing BF4 or Shadows of Mordor @ ultra settings makes it run with a GPU 73-76c and CPU 85c (haven't gone above 85c .. YET!) I can live with the fans.. But for some reason, it sounds louder than my G75VX while running @ full load.

I've updated the lastest bios update and it did help a bit - When I was running prime95 and furmark my CPU was reaching 89c while the GPU stayed around 76c .. BEFORE THE BIOS UPDATE.

So right now, I don't know if I should return it or not.. Cause it's definitely not silent

I will say this tho - I sit in a small officeroom with the laptop up against the wall (perhaps 20-25cm from the back of the wall) This might have an impact, but I never really thought about it with my G75VX.

A little sidenote: I'm running BF4 with 61-100 FPS never dropped below 60. Everything feels sooooo smooth! .. Even with shadowplay recording.

Shadows of Mordor + World of warcraft seems to be running oki as well (haven't tested WoW doing raid yet. With ultra settings and everything max out my fps is around 90 in major cities.

The only thing I'm worried about here, is the noise from the fans and the CPU reaching 85c.

Enable v-sync, that will limit the FPS to 60. Thus the load on the CPU and GPU will be lower and you will have a lower temp -> slower running fans.
Also, the closer to the wall you are, the more sound from the vents is being reflected to you.

    Come on be helpful man.

@Iddd G751 is not as silent as those normal laptop yes, but in the world of gaming laptop, it's a ninja - a fat ninja. So if you really need a quiet gaming laptop, it's the best choice. But since we dont know yet how loud it is, dont know if yours is defected. U use smartphone? There are apps for determining loudness.
