Hmmm..not recommending using that power supply . it might cause more serious damage than burst fuse

Can anyone help me with the sound issue I've been having with my G751? I've made a dedicated thread here.
Any help is greatly appreciated. -
-
-
The reseller at webhallen.com listed the wrong spec. I took a look inside of the machine, only a normal ssd -
-
What brand and model is the ssd? -
It also might be that problem with speaker wiring that someone mentioned earlier in this thread. -
I've just re-installed all drivers listed on the G751JT support page, and I am finishing off with the Realtek audio driver. If it works, I will get proper sound from all 3 sources. If it doesn't, I will get sound only through the subwoofer again.
Just so I can make sure, which driver might I think was bloatware that could impact the speakers like this? ASUS only lists a single driver under Audio. Also, should I uninstall the general use Windows "High Definition Audio Device" drivers before I install Realtek's drivers?
I swear if this doesn't work... I'm back to square 1. -
-
So.. Is this a good time to buy or should I wait? Everyone is having problems so far from what im reading...
-
-
you do not need totouch anything in Device Manager
when installing Realtek drivers, do you get ROG Audio as well? If so - go to profiles, choose one, and play with sliders. See if that helps.
P.S. Which Windows version did you install?/? -
SSD is Samsung unless they changed it last couple of days.
-
I installed and am running Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit.
Let me know when I should install the Audio Driver. -

Should I do now that I've installed all other drivers and updated the BIOS? -
1. the ones that never install Asus drivers and looking for the latest elsewere (even though it is not supporter=d yet) Usualy ARE the ones with all kinds of problems
2. the ones that use Asus support site (exept Video drivers)and have almost none.
Decide who you with first.
I wabt your speakers to work as much as you do.hmscott likes this. -

I have gone there, downloaded the BIOS updates, applied them successfully, downloaded all drivers from top to bottom on that page, installed, or uninstalled/installed all of them in that exact order, and I have saved Audio for last.
What I am asking now is: Should I go ahead and install the Audio Driver now, or is there anything I may be missing? -
-
It's pushing audio only through the subwoofer, again.
(I now have ROG Audiowizard and Realtek Audio Manager programs, but that doesn't do much with the speakers the way they are.)
I'm heading to work - I'll fiddle with it tonight in 10 hours and tomorrow morning....
Ugh. -
-
Yeah, hope you can fix those issues SoulMisaki.
I'll maybe purchase my G751 next year. I'm hearing so many issues from so many people, i'll wait for ASUS to do something about it. If they do, which i'm sure they will. -
-
glad i didnt get the asus; seems they have a bad build quality based on the issues

I sense trolling going on...
In contrast I'd like to point out that my g751 has been incredibly good. It is without a doubt the best computer I have ever owned. -
-
The only fault that mattered was fixed by a BIOS update - high temps under load on the G751JY, fixed in BIOS 204.
The rest of the issues are cosmetic to the core function of the laptop
Unfortunate, but easily fixed - not a one has been a reason to return to seller, even the broken speaker leads - that is easily fixed on a quick RMA and you can work around it at first if you don't want to be in the first wave to RMA... also a consideration.
And, you can return to the seller if you want to opt out of the initial cutting edge wave of excitement
The bad pixels reported have been worked out over time, there are ways to massage them out too, all long term fixes - I have had them on DELL, Alenware, Toshiba, HP, etc etc.
If you feel you need to wait then please keep it to yourself for now, there are plenty of useful input from new owners that need help, or have cool new info to share - the positive helpful stuff we all need right now.
Speculations on failures, or "wow am I lucky I didn't order" emails are unnecessary, and in bad taste in the form of reveling in the suffering of others.
Those of us waiting for shipments to our region to arrive, and have a long history of seeing this issues, don't need to be told to wait, and neither do the others skiddish on their own from not knowing how to respond to early production problems.
As a percentage, there is a far larger percentage of perfectly good G751's shipping, likely greater than 95%. It is possible you will get a G751 that needs help, but a far higher percentage chance of getting a perfectly good one.
You really should jump in and buy one, it will be the best laptop you have ever owned - until the next one from Asuspraetorianx, Demike, mnwforever and 2 others like this. -
In user support forums, you will always see an overwhelmingly high percentage of failures, as that is why most people seek out these forums - to get help / support from other users for a problem they are having.
When you get a good one, please come back and let us know about it, don't be shy -
It is like an echo chamber, one guy starts to complain about so many issues from a small handful of post then everyone hops on board parroting the same. I seem to recall FOUR people reporting issues from all the sources I could find... I promptly ordered my unit after that.
Feel free to duplicate my efforts and correct my count, I don't claim it is accurate though am confident it is close; I was just reading through to get a sense of the scope of issues encountered and saw there was only a nominal portion of users reporting issue and was of no account. -
Just got my g751 and i downloaded hwinfo64 to see my temps and my cpu temp is like 46 celcius min and 49 max with only web browser running and hwinfo64 running, is that too high? I think my bios are 202.

The asus machines are tweaked for noise over temperature at idle so they do idle a little higher than others, your load temperatures are much more important.

Everyone is saying their G751JY is soooo quiet .. I'm not experiencing that with mine.
Playing BF4 or Shadows of Mordor @ ultra settings makes it run with a GPU 73-76c and CPU 85c (haven't gone above 85c .. YET!) I can live with the fans.. But for some reason, it sounds louder than my G75VX while running @ full load.
I've updated the lastest bios update and it did help a bit - When I was running prime95 and furmark my CPU was reaching 89c while the GPU stayed around 76c .. BEFORE THE BIOS UPDATE.
So right now, I don't know if I should return it or not.. Cause it's definitely not silent
I will say this tho - I sit in a small officeroom with the laptop up against the wall (perhaps 20-25cm from the back of the wall) This might have an impact, but I never really thought about it with my G75VX.
A little sidenote: I'm running BF4 with 61-100 FPS never dropped below 60. Everything feels sooooo smooth! .. Even with shadowplay recording.
Shadows of Mordor + World of warcraft seems to be running oki as well (haven't tested WoW doing raid yet. With ultra settings and everything max out my fps is around 90 in major cities.
The only thing I'm worried about here, is the noise from the fans and the CPU reaching 85c. -
Can anyone please tell if they've received their game code as a part of Nvidia's Pick Your Path promotion?

Also, the closer to the wall you are, the more sound from the vents is being reflected to you. -

Come on be helpful man.
@Iddd G751 is not as silent as those normal laptop yes, but in the world of gaming laptop, it's a ninja - a fat ninja. So if you really need a quiet gaming laptop, it's the best choice. But since we dont know yet how loud it is, dont know if yours is defected. U use smartphone? There are apps for determining loudness.
