Guys, can those of you that DON'?T have either speaker of WiFi issues please take the time to post in this thread? So... anyone bought a G751 that WORKS PERFECTLY out of the box? No issues?
I and am sure many others are interested in hearing from people who do not have issues, in order to put ourselves a little at ease that this is not affecting the majority of users...

Hi, re-ask some question from my previous post
- If I buy the model with 1x8 GB of RAM, do you suggest to buy immediately a second stick of RAM so they work in dual channel or can I wait 1 or 2 months (for budget)? Will single channel be a bottleneck for gaming?
- How can I clean vens and fans if opening the entire laptop will void the warranty?
There are some seals that will break when it's open or is it possible to do paying attention?
Thanks -
-
For the other question, anyone can say me if there are any warranty seals in the notebook?
I know that disassembling the whole laptop will result in voiding warranty, but how can Asus know that?
Thanks -

Amazon UK still don't have G751 in stock or expected arrival date, but they lowered i7 4710HQ price to £1493. If you can wait that's a very good price.
Update: lambda-tek.com and ballicom.co.uk have higher end model in stock.

The reason why i'm unsure of getting the 8GB or 16GB version is because two of the RAM slots are not easily acessible. You have to completely dissassemble the laptop to have access to all slots, and I suck at dissassembling laptops. Even my old N53Jq has all it's 4 slots easily accessible, along with the HDD. One screw up, and you're funked X_X
I'm also uncertain on getting the 4710 or 4860. Both seem to be exactly the same, which brings up the question why doesn't the higher end version have a better CPU like 4940MX or something? -

Holy crap... my country must have got the a limited edition of special edition packs.I picked it up and noticed the box was huge. I get home, open it up, and find:
17" ROG Rucksack
ASUS ROG Cerberus Headset
ASUS ROG Mouse (wired)

That edition does look sweet...and expensive

Let us know if everything works alright for you - please test the speakers if you can.

Yes, if you go with the 8GB version then you can update it to 24 GB maximum... to put the 4th stick of RAM you have to disassemble completely the laptop, voiding the warranty :|
But I think that 24GB is more than good for at least 2 years, then no warranty and you can open it
For the CPU, I found this on another thread

Higher end model available at couple of websites. I hope that special bundle is Europe wide promotion. Amazon is late to the party. I really want to buy it from them due to zero issue return policy.

What is everoyne using to record CPU and GPU temps? I notice ASUS has a CPU tweaking app that records temps (though graph doesn't look super detailed), but not sure about which is best for GPU temp logging?
-
I am sceptical at what I was told. -
P.S. Bought it at Frys Electronics in Vegas. -
For the separate real-time view of GPU I like to use GPU-Z, and there is an ROG skin version too.
The Intel XTU program also has these features, including stress/benchmark features, which are great and I have used them, but I tend to use separate programs, like pime95 for CPU and furmark or Unigine Heaven for GPU.
Here is an example of a run with all of the above doing a prime95 run with small FFT selected (generates the most heat), and Furmark Burnin test - using snipping tool to get an image of all the readings at 5 minutes in on a G750JH

Using these tests and monitoring, and picking a run time of 5 minutes, and picking certain readings (while showing the rest in the image) we can compare the results across laptops. The results above are for the G750JH with XTU set for maximum multipliers (36x,35x,34x,34x cores, and 36x cache) and GPU OC to 932/6250.
Results at 5 minutes: Current CPU 85c, Current GPU 85c
It would be nice to see runs on the G751JY and G751JT -
Not bad.now go and enjoy your games

Well, I had a quick play around lastnight and temps seem unbelievably awesome for a machine like this...I don't think it went past 65c on the GPU and 55c on the CPU... however that was me tired and being very unscientific, so I will confirm those this week and run some more intense benchmarks.
My sound, hmm, I'm not entireley sure if I have a problem or not. It is what I expect for a laptop, nothing special, and it did have a tendency to come from the left a little. But again, I need to test this.
When I get an SSD I will simply clone it to preserve current install and settings of everything, as I have cleaned up the bloatware now and it's a nice and smooth install.
By the way the screen is amazing... no dead pixels and just beautiful to look at, definitely much easier on the eyes than my 15" laptop. The keyboard is also fantastic, perfectly tactile although I think the layout could certainly be improved as it just feels very "busy", especially in the top left side.
As for WiFi I also need to test this more... it didn't connect on the intial setup, but is doing so now, so I need to benchmark it and watch for dropoff.
However, so far, this laptop looks like it will be an absolute beast.
EDIT - Just ran a wireless internet test and only getting 30Mbps... WAY lower than it should be (wired gets 125Mbps). So maybe that is the weak link in all the awesomeness... -
Intel 7260 is crap. Try to mess with drivers to find working one.

I have run into no issues with mine and it was one of the first ones out there :s

I know it's usually normal for the first run of a laptop model to be problematic, but I expected better from Asus. In this department they were always light years ahead of everyone else.
Does anyone know of an european site like Xotixpc and Gentech, where you can customize the laptop when buying? I'd love to order from them with a different wifi card, but dem custom charges hurt my wallet -
Nowadays, I found good price on cyberport.de, but they doesn't offer any customization service.
I'm able to replace wifi card on my own (if I have issue obviously), but I'm worried to result in voiding warranty. -
what the difference between G751JY-DH73-CA and G751JY-DH71 ?
-
im really considering returning mine due to the wifi adapter. It makes it so unreliable. Last night i went to a friends place and I couldnt connect to wifi at all. Jeez, why do they keep putting this garbage chip in new laptops? Dont they read feedback? Intel must pay them big money to get rid of these horrible chips.
-
Problem is I don't understand slovak, and have no idea how competent they are but I suppose they are given it's an official Asus site. I'm also worried about the keyboard, and if i'll ever be able to replace for a Portuguese one in the future -

I'm trying to find the best deal, but looking at the stores in the main european countries.
So you can contact them if you have an issue or for various info, or so.
This laptop seems not to be free of problems, especially sound and wifi.
Intel wifi card is my main worry... -
I find at same price Asus g750JZ and Asus g751JT and I do not know what to choose.
Specifically Specs in Greece shops:
g750JZ: i7-4710HQ - GTX 880m 8gb ddr5 – 16GB Ram – HDD 1TB + SSD 128GB 1650 euro
g751JT: i7-4710HQ - GTX 970m 3gb ddr3– 16GB Ram – HDD 1TB + SSD 128GB 1700 euro
From one side g750 has better GPU its more tested to time for weak points and on the other side g751(880m) has worst GPU (970m) but has more feature like 4k or DSR and has better screen IPS Matte compared to TN Matte g750. I am confused please help with arguments.
Thanks in advance -
Between the two, I would go with the G751 -
what is the difference between G751JY-DH73-CA and G751JY-DH71 ?
-
Well if Asus won't supply the keyboard seperately all i'll have to do is swap Y with Z to be identical to Portuguese layout. The only difference will be the printed symbols on the 1 to 0 keys and such, which I can live with because I intend on using the laptop hooked up to an external monitor and a PT keyboard for 90% of the time.
Question is, are the keys easy and simple to remove/place?
-
-
970M is still 10% faster than 880M.

Guys, while I know synthetic benchmarks are synthetic benchmarks... does my score of 8450 on Firestrike seem a bit low? What are others getting?
EDIT - Seems not, the GT72 gets 8300 in a review with 980M... -
We already know this laptop runs all modern games at 1080p without breaking a sweat, but...can it run Frogger?
-
Do you know what the maximum warranty you get get on these machines?
Also is it possible to get extension global warranty as 1 year is not enough? -
