I personally cant wait to replay Transistor and Valkyria Chronicles, as well as play through Metro 2033 Redux + Last Light Redux.

Maybe some Tomb Raider & Audio Surf 2 as well.

Skyrim modded to the gills! And some newer stuff like Shadow of Mordor, AC: Unity and Far Cry 4.

I want to play the Souls games in 4K the most. I'm aware it'll probably run at about 30fps, but I was never really that picky about framerate. Texture quality and resolution are where it's at, 30fps is acceptable to me :D

I also would like to try Dragon Age: Inquisition, the Amnesia games, The Evil Within and Elder Scrolls games!

Then the 980M is your best bet, 4k is pretty harsh on any single GPU though.

Yeah. I'm only worried if the stress on the GPU can actually damage it :(

What about 1440p? Can the 980/970 handle it reasonably well?

Yes and with a little tweaking you can get above 60fps at 1440p on most titles.

    That's great news, thanks :D

I guess i'm going to hold off on a 4K monitor after all, and probably go with the Asus PB278QR. I keep hearing AMAZING things about its panel, it really seems like the perfect work monitor (photo and video editing) for me and it also has great response time for games.

This maybe a silly question but what is Optimus?

Also I am really puzzled as I thought the G751 came only with mSATA SSD not M 2 SSD with the latter being really fast. So what SSD does the laptop come with?

Not all of them. Mine came with a Sandisk 2.5" SSD. I too expected all to come with M.2 so I didn't pay attention to the modelnumbers too much. Disgusting marketing from Asus.

Getting low 400's when benchmarking read and writes in crystaldisk. Between this and the horrible wifi card I really should return it, but it's just too much of a hassle.
Not at all happy, first and last asus product ever for my part.

Product specifications can change depend on the country, so you need to check and verify the spec before you buy. M.2 SSD's have better sequential write speed but they don't have better 4k speeds, so unless you are coping large files you don't notice the difference.

Other thing is current M.2 drives get extremely hot during use and that will reduce lifespan of the drive. (Check SSD section of the forum )

WiFi issue is common with crappy Intel card. It's unfortunate Asus decide to go with Intel.

You know what, I'm just gonna return it. I know I will regret it later if I don't since I'm basically just annoyed any time I switch it on or visit this forum to read about it :(

Too bad cause they have a good thing going here (980m, great design and low heat, wonderful screen etc), but it's ruined by crap wifi and a gazillion different models confusing customers.

As long as it has the i7 4710HQ it will turbo to 3.5 GHz, that does not change with models.

Here even have TN panel. After my criticism post on the country tech site, they contacted me say that they will get IPS models but not until late December.

Now i have a whole different taste, no more Asus biased. Actually i have a feeling that they are cheaping out things.

I just ordered a G751JT-CH71 from Amazon, and chose 2 day shipping.(it will be here wednesday) I'm fully expecting it to have the speaker problems that you've all been putting up with, hopefully Asus will have a fix before my return window is up. If it has keyboard or other QC issues, I'll simply keep mailing it back to Amazon until I get a good one. I'm mentally prepared for the worst, it keeps me from being disappointed in the long run. It sucks when you order something expensive, and fully have the expectation of it being faulty in some way.

Sry for didn't make it clear enough.

At first, Asus Vietnam planned to have them in stock mid November, the model T7075D would have TN panel. But after my post and complains of others, they cancelled the plan and moved on to IPS, also the shipment changed to late December.

I was bashed by some customers here for causing that delay. Personally i think it's Asus to blame.

But after all i will give the G751 a shot. If it turn out great, i will return the GS70. But as i see now, unlikely that will be the case.

Can those of you who are have the either model please report back on the IPS glow levels?

I had a QNIX IPS screen a while back and the poor black levels really put me off IPS. Colours might be better, but the black levels on a TN panel is much better.

    Does G751JY-DH73-CA have :
    1- removable battery?
    2- adapter auto-switch 110-230 ?
3- CPU with turbo up to 3.5 GHz (as one of asus staff told me that G751JY-DH73-CA has i7-4710 but without turbo) ?
4- efficient and quiet cooling system like G751JY-DH71 ?
    5- Samsung XP941 SSD or sata 3 SSD ?

    1. Non removable battery
    2. Almost all power adapters comes with auto switch.
    3. Every Intel CPU comes with turbo boost.
    4. DH71 & DH73-CA share the same chassis and cooling system so thermal performance will be similar.
5.XP941 is M.2 SSD which use PCI-E x4. This is much faster than traditional SATA SSD'S

    thanks for your answer
    1- DH71 & DH73-CA don't share the same chassis ( DH71 has 4 vents in the back <> DH73-CA has 2 vents only)
2- you didn't answer this question: DH73-CA comes with M.2 SSD or SATA SSD?

Nop both share the same cooling system. 4 vent thing is just a design. Nothing to do with cooling. BTW if I'm not mistaken 980m version only came with 4 vent look alike design. 970m version came with dual vent look alike design.

Sorry no idea if it's M.2 or SATA SSD. My guess is it's M.2.

my conversation with one of Intel operators :
M: so 4710HQ come with 2 models one with turbo boost 3.5 GHZ and one without ??

    Josue: No. Only this one:

    Josue: ARK | Intel® Core™ i7-4710HQ Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.50 GHz)

    M: ok

M: so the aus laptop has 4710HQ ((without)) turbo 3.5 GHz ?

Josue: That's something that you need to check with ASUS. Our processor only comes in the variety specified above.

M: so ((ALL)) 4710HQ come with turbo boost 3.5 GHz ?

    Josue: Correct.

M: there is any way to prevent turbo boost by bois ?

    M: with other words

M: does asus or any laptop brand have the ability to cancel turbo boost of your CPU ?

Josue: Turbo Boost can be disabled by BIOS, but it depends on the laptop manufacturer if they enable the option or not in their BIOS.

M: can I enable it myself if the manufacturer disable it ?

    Josue: Not likely.

    M: ok thanks

    last 3 questions :
1- Is the boot speed in G751JY-CH71 faster than G751JT-CH71 ?
    2- Does G751JT-CH71 have M.2. Slot ?
    3- G751JT-CH71 adapter is auto switch 110-240V ?

JY model comes with 980m and JT comes with 970m. Therefore JY is faster than JT (around 30%)

Every notebook PSU comes with power auto switch.

Not sure about M.2 slot. BTW if you want more future proof notebook, I recommend going with JY model.

You would need an unlocked bios to disable turbo, the only cases where it would be disabled would be on battery as some manufacturers do but I don't think asus do that on the G series.
