Can you please take another photo, angled striaght in to get the best view of the connector in the notch over the left bay. From this angle it looks like the notched M.2 connector, but I can't quite be sure.

    possible M.2 connector in G751JT.JPG

Glad to hear the speakers are working too :)

How did you verify the sound is coming out of all 3 speakers?

Can you please use the Speakers Properties controls to test them, say zero the level on one set to see if you can tell the difference? Maybe test the balance too, moving it to favor the left then the right?

Some have reported over the last 2 weeks that the sound is only coming out of the Subwoofer speaker. And, you have to put your ear up to verify that the L/R speakers at the rear under the screen are putting out any audio.

Your report of completely working speakers is the first one for the last couple of weeks. Can you please verify that sound is coming out of the L/R speakers, and not just out of the bottom facing Subwoofer?

    Thank you Visa Declined :)

When I put my ear up to them with music playing, I can easily hear sound coming out of them. The subwoofer is louder, but they definitely are working.

    *edit*

I'll take another picture of the back later, but I'm getting ready for bed right now.

Wow, the price of the JY is really starting to drop fast...the "cheap model" (4710hq, 8gb ram, 1TB HDD) with 2 year international warranty can be purchased here for $1780 now and this is not a Black Friday price ... I wonder where the price will stop before they discontinue it.

Don't want to confuse even more the discussion but it has been weeks since I said that on (my) G751JT there were a M.2 slot but without caddy (+pictures) and there were 1 Sata III slot and 1 Sata II assuming my crystal diskmark tests.
Also it seems hard (impossible?) to fit SSDs on both M.2 and SATA III slots. And i don't even know if the M.2 slot works, as Asus never mentionned it...

some1 already posted that models JY & JT come with: http://www.panelook.com/LP173WF4-SPF1_LG Display_17.3_LCM_overview_21056.html
same model but plus 256GB SATA 3 SSD, 16GB RAM and with os for about 2100 usd ;)
so come to Poland and spend your dollars here!!! :D unfortunatelly no m.2 options yet available
are you really sure that M.2 and SATA 3 ports/sockets are located in the same bay/slot and SATA 2 sits alone? that woiuld be a pitty, not able to utilise m.2 and sata 3 simultaniously

    Notebook Laptop PDA webáruház
    - Media Markt online vásárlás

The prices are in Hungarian Forints.

Only Media Markt has the best equipped model in the country which is $2030, which is about $400 cheaper than it's US/UK brother (If I woulk remove the SSD and 16 GB RAM from the $3000 US/UK variant, if not, than the difference is $970).

These all have the JY for sale. All shop sells the JY with 2 year international warranty which can be extended by 1 or 2 more years within 1 year of purchase.

ps.: yes, I've ment the JY, the JT will not be officially available in my country. At least Asus Hungary is not planning on importing it.

pps: The reason for the lower price is the difference in economy compared to western and other Europen Union countries.

The price also dropped in Switzerland by around 8% for the JY model :)
The G751JY-T7022H is now available for 2294 CHF, that is around 1910 Eur, incl. taxes.

The most expensive config in my country is 2000euro and has bluray,24gb and 256gb xp841

I have a question for all: does it worth G751JY the extra 500$ than a G751JT?
Is a good plus 25% more video performance for 500$?
The configuration is the same, only GPUs are diferent.

I could use those 500$ and get 2 x 512gb samsung evo and extra 8gb ddr3....but i'm still not decided

The way I see it, that extra 30% in performance could possibly buy you another year of use down the road. As games get more graphically demanding, the 980m will keep up longer than the 970m. I'm trying not to think about it too much though, the 970m is cutting through my games like a hot knife through butter. This machine puts out higher frame rates than my desktop, which has an i7 860, 12Gb of Patriot DDR3, and an MSI GTX 760.

ZerockX, can't quite do it under $100, but the ROG designed Nomad is the best fit/function I have found for ROG laptops. I paid $125, the price goes up and down depending on demand/supply, I have seen it as high as $190, and it is $140.99 right now.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Perfect Bag for Business Traveler or Gamer!, <nobr>November 12, 2014</nobr>
This review is from: ASUS Republic of Gamers Nomad Backpack for All 17-Inch G-Series Notebooks (Personal Computers)
I don't write a lot of reviews, but I am truly excited about this backpack. I am not a gamer. I'm a businessman and serious photographer. I purchased the ASUS ROG G751JY-DH71 laptop with 17.3-inch 1080p screen for photo editing (and by the way, I highly recommend the ASUS ROG G751JY for photographers that need a powerful fast laptop). However, the large size of the laptop was surprising to me and I was concerned that I might not be able to travel with it. I had no travel bag that would contain it and protect it.

The Nomad backpack seemed a bit price, but I didn't really see many other choices, so I ordered it, thinking that this bag was designed for the ASUS G751JY, so I would try it. When it arrived I was immediately impressed by the build quality and comfort. But, the real test was when I took it on a business trip this week. I needed to take my company laptop (a 15" Dell) , but I wanted to edit photos in the evening, so I took my ASUS 17" laptop as well. The bag held two computers, two power supplies, a large portable GPS, a mouse, two iPhones with chargers and cables, two sets of earphones (blue tooth and wired), a wallet and a spiral notebook and file folder. It has 3 outside pockets and zippered dividers to store things like cables, mouse, business cards, wallet, reading glasses, etc. The outside backpack pockets gave me a place to quickly store things that I needed to remove to go through airport security. In spite of all the items that I put into it, and the resulting weight, the bag was comfortable and did not seem bulky. I was also surprised when it fit nicely beneath the seat on my Southwest flight, with room for my feet. The zippers appear to be strong and the bag is perfectly designed. I could not be more happy.

hmscott, I've tried norton security whitout backup and I was liking it until I found out the my sound was crackling when I changed the volume. I was watching youtube videos and every 1min when I changed the sound it cracked before going to the volume I chose. So I uninstalled it. For now I'm thinking on getting back to mcAfee livesafe.

Demike, you are the first person ever to say that the sound was affected by Norton Security... are you sure it isn't some coincidence? They are completely unrelated. Norton Security has nothing to do with the audio. I don't have this problem.

I wouldn't go with a McAfee product. Historically it has always been a mess. I hope you uninstalled McAfee if it came with the laptop before installing any other anti-virus / firewall software. I did and found there were still remnants left behind, and found this tool from McAfee to uninstall all the little leave behinds the uninstaller didn't remove.

    http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

I would reinstall the Norton Security and find the source of the volume noise problem. Report it to Norton if you really are certain it is related. I went through 2 months of Beta and now another month of the release product, and no problems. Sorry you ran into a problem, but I really don't think it is related.

I have a G750JH, running Windows 8.1, Realtek 7335 drivers. Should be the same hardware and software as you are running if you installed on a G75x. What hardware did you load NS on?

What is the exact control and use that shows the problem?

Meaker, do you recall the year and version this happened? Since 2007 Norton was completely redone, and I haven't experienced any such issues since.

It does, but from DP/TB connector only.
    HDMI 1.x isn't capable of 144Hz.

hmscott I found this odd too, but because the problem just came after I had uninstalled mcAfee and installed norton after that I thought it could be related. The day I received my unit back I did several tests on the sound and I didn't notice this problem. Before I uninstall norton I reported the problem on their customer feedback page. Now the problem is not completely gone but it appears 95% less often and with less intensity. My hardware is a G751JY-DH73-CA, but I'm not sure what is my version of Realtek HD. Can you please tell me how to find it? The cause of this problem is that when I increase or decrease the volume the sound goes down in a fraction of second before goes to the volume that I have set. If I try to change the volume right after again the that doesn't happen, but if I change the volume after 1-2 min it will happen again. In normal music listening this is not happening.

I'm gonna give it a second try and I will use the program you mention above before the installation.

Windows Defender should be enough for almost everyone. Comes free with Windows 8 :)

Nortan and McAfee are annoying to the point that you might as well have adware on your computer.

Hey guys, what's better? The new G771JM or the older G750JM? In Canada the G771 is only available as the JM model and the JZ and J.S of the G750 are outside of my budget. So if it came down between G771JM and G750JM, which would you choose? The older G750JM has dual fans so I'm more inclined towards it as I'll be gaming and using the laptop in a tropical country. How is G771's single fan? Is the cooling as good as the G750 or less adequate? I understand the G771 is thiner and less weight but I don't plan to travel with my laptop, but just to use it at home. Still, it's of course nicer to have a sleeker laptop. But I'm not ready to compromise the weight and size over a less effective cooling that the G750 seems to offer. What would your guys pick be? Please help me out as I have to make a decision before tomorrow.... Thanks..
