That's quite pricy, I was hoping for around GBP 1200 for 970m model. Maybe the price will go down a bit within 2 or three months...

We sometimes will see alternate models get released slightly later that will be lower in price. There isnt anything we know of right now, but with all previous generation models they have done that.

Speaking of those options, looks like I'm getting the JT-DH72:

Let me know when you get it in at Xotic PC, Hutsady.

    ASUS ROG Nordic:

Say hello to the all new ASUS ROG G751. It features the extremely impressive GTX 970/980M (+5% OC with TurboMaster) and Intel Core i7 (with XTU OC support). The thermal solution is comprised of separate modules for the CPU and GPU, making sure that it will never throttle or be noisy. It will be available in a wide range of configurations starting from next week.

    Nordic, cool! literally...

I have a bad feeling that cheapest model will be here in Finland around 1600€, perhaps Swedish Webhallen retailing slightly cheaper... Wonder what happened that JM or 741 or whatever 860M model?

They advertise it's heat management as "improved" and "upgraded intelligent cooling". Makes me wonder what way they have, if any, improved it since latest 750 batch. Does anyone know?

I actually do find Finland's price for this laptops quite reasonable. If you compare with other awful laptops in Finland, it is a perfect deal and there is only 100€ difference between 880m and 870m GPU models. I have G750JZ with upgraded SSD and Ram from Verkkokauppa and I would like to sell it actually after 3 months using since I fell in love with G751 :)

    First of all, thank you~!

Secondly, they are most likely in US dollars. Knowing Asus, they may release Canadian variations on those models - with CA instead of DH at the end - with Canadian prices. Usually though, it's better to buy from the states, if the exchange rate is good enough. (I personally have my orders shipped to a depot just across the border, where I pick it up and drive back.)

I'd most likely go with the JT-CH1 model since the SSD is the only difference. I have a 512 SSD in my current G73 and just most it over. I'm so glad I've waited to update my aging G73.

It's still incredibly unclear as to which models are the "slim" versions and which are the "gaming" versions. Asus's webpage doesn't mention anything. The preorder pages from different sites show "slim" version in front pictures and "gamer" version in back pictures.
Does anyone have any idea which models are which?

That's to bad, I live outside the US (I live in Europe). Buying the laptop in Canada and shipping it to me is actually cheaper for me.. Exchange rate being Eu (1,00) - CAD (1,41) atm.
I'm probably going for the GTX 970 model since I want to spend as less money as possible.

Hii am new to this forum. I wanted to ask, I am interested with the notebooks with nvidias 900m GPUs, as maxwell gives you get more efficiency. So will you be able to buy laptops in the beginning of 2015 with nvidia 980m with a core m u broadwell CPU? Thanks. I would think that it would most power efficient. But I'm not sure if that pair is possible? Because 14nm CPU with 28nm gpu?. Thanks. Sorry if this is a stupid question

It's a common confusing. They using that picture for every G751 advertising, It did happen with the G750. It's a tradition of G75x series that different card have different body.

The thing is Core M is for tablet and ultrabook, basicly it's not the type of CPU that used in gaming laptops. The Broadwell that you're waiting for will arrive much later, somewhere mid 2015. And 14nm cpu with 28nm gpu is ok.

What model will keep the 980M cooled the most under heavy load? The GT72 Dominator ? Or the new Asus G751?

Big difference in temps and noise?

Retailers should update their informaiton. None of them say IPS on the sales pages...

Also, how much does the height dimension change from the models? On the specs page it goes from .9-1.7" where as the g750 went from .7-2.3," which seem like massive ranges.

There is actually a machine which does have 4k and GTX970m. KillerInstinct pointed it out to me on another thread:

Asus is pretty hard to beat in that regard, if noise is your top concern then the Asus takes it.

10 months is enough time :) I bought my MSI with 780m a year ago and I do not regret it!

Remember that OCing can give you 880m performance which is still powerful and close to 970m :D

Are you aware of the MSI GT72 cooling architecture? it has 2 fans, thick heatsinks, an extra copper pipe, and dual exhausts just like the Asus G750. The pre-maxwell versions had very close noise levels under load, it was a close call in all the reviews with the 880M. I'm curious what makes you so decisive about it?

Yes, given a 980M, cooling, noise and price are what close the deal for me. Asus G751 or MSI GT72?

I'll probably wait until the boxing day deals come around before buying my next computer - until then, I'll keep an eye out for any machines that may be comparable to the G751 at the same / a lower price.
