Well if the dozen or more manufacturers decided to get together and take Nvidia to a court on the grounds that their faulty hardware being corrected is a bug fix, not a "groundbreaking new display technology that delivers the smoothest gaming experience ever" then I think they might get Nvidia to flinch but since they've already paid for this "feature" I doubt they'd even consider doing it just for the 1000s of assed out original 980/970 owners who are now stuck with the "screen tearing, display stutter and input lag" that is caused by faulty Nvidia software.

It's not bug fix, it's a feature that has been researched and required driver development and money to come up with. I'm afraid it's not something people are entitled to if nvidia don't want to offer it for free.

After searching these forums for a M.2 bracket for my G751JY-DB73X G-Sync I actually made a 3d printed M.2 bracket myself. Well i made 13 versions before i found one that was perfect but its on shapeways if anyone still needs one. It has an open top for heatsinks. It also leaves enough room for the 850 EVO to fit naked. With heatsinks attached i got an average 7 degree drop in crystaldiskmark with the SM951.

I was always confused why Asus made it one or the other to be honest, seems like an odd decision to myself.

I am about to pull the trigger on ordering the g751jy-db72. Before I do does anyone have any reasons why I shouldn't or if there is a better similar spec laptop? Or if there is something on the near horizon I should wait for? :)

I'd say go for it. Just bought one myself to replace my g73jh, which is still going perfectly but showing it's age a bit!

I reckon it has the best combination of price, performance and quiet operation which is important to me. Have a read up on it at the Asus rog forums. Details possible problems and the state of fixes for them. Is quite an active community of owners which is nice.

Are you buying it in usa? If so stalk Amazon for sales, was a good deal for $600 off from rackgo a couple of weeks ago.

Maybe Meaker or another computer company representative on here would match that??

Hi . I have a question and want to know your opinion.
Several months ago I had a Asus G751JT and work with excellent temperatures (CPU did not exceed GPU 67-69º and 76-77ºC ) .

Just a week ago bought a Asus G751JY in a great offer with the same CPU: i7 4710HQ . The problem is playing in some games the CPU reached maximum 91 ° .

After much thinking , and since it was not possible to replace Because it was a great offer, I Decided to disarm completely and make a "repaste" .

After making the repaste they only slightly improved GPU temperatures , but the CPU temperatures still remain the same, reaching 91º for example on CS:GO or AC:Unity .

Someone knows the reason about large temperature difference Between my G751JT and my G751JY despite the repaste ??

Thanks and sorry my bad english ;-)

It could be an issue with the heatsink, the heatpipe may not be up to the task or something is wrong with the mounting.

Hello guys, i have a problem with the ping spikes on mine G751JY...
this is my settings on my router: http://gyazo.com/d27be0693f126c800f0e0d31399c8b90
    I have updated the drivers.
Is it normal to not have the 802.11n mode settings?
Also, should I put "Auto" for both 2.4GHz and 5.2GHz?
    Thanks!

Hi, there are only two wifi that I could receive, so I don't think changing the channel will solve my problem. What do you mean "it wont show anything beyond G ?". Is there anything wrong with my settings? Do you have skype so I can contact you more easier? Thanks

There are several channels in the 2.4ghz band that routers can use, interference on one could cause an issue, try going through each. If multiple devices are doing it then it's likely an issue with the router, it is quite old.

Changing the channels on my router settings didn't work for me. I disabled MPDU, didn't work for me either...
My old laptop (Lenovo Y580) is playing csgo fine on wireless without any rubberbanding. Both MSI gt72 and Asus G751 have this rubberbanding problem.
This problem only exists on wireless. Ethernet works fine.
Also, moving my laptop to the router makes the rubberbanding WAY less frequent

Got my JT the other day. Only hiccup I had was getting wireless to connect to my, ironically, ASUS router. Works fine now though. Was considering a G551 but decided to spend the extra and pretty glad I did.

Yes for gaming it's a fair step up from the G551, glad you are enjoying it. The Asus routers are usually very good too, was it a setting or did it just take a few trys?

I tried to disassemble the laptop again and change the thermal paste one more time by another with better quality (Artic Cooling MX4)

The results have been similars or Maybe worse.

In the games the CPU reaches 90-91ºC easily, and with Furmark + Prime95 about a 95-96ºC .

I 'm thinking of buying a new heatpipe / heatsink, maybe the original is defective, or maybe this is a faulty cpu and there is no another solution other than disable the Turbo-Boost or reduce the cpu voltage...

A faulty CPU would just not work, if the paste job is good then the heatpipe would be the next suspect yes.

What kind of visual quality settings have you set in the game? 91C is maxed and capped so it shouldn't go above it, but stuttering can be your issue.

    I´m playing with ultra settings on CS:GO (it´s a old game), but before this Asus G751JY I've had another notebooks: Asus G751JT (4710HQ+970M), Msi GT72 2QD (4720HQ+970M), Clevo P771ZM (4690S+970M), Msi GT72 2QE (4710HQ+980M), Clevo P170SM (4700MQ+980M), etc
And none of them worked at like temperatures.

Anyhow, it is not normal, supposedly when this kind of symptom happens, it's because the GPU is hitting thermal cap. This means the thermal capacity has been surpassed by the new GPU, or it's defective (runs hotter than normal ones), or perhaps it needs better thermal compound, or under-volt via unlocked VBIOS.

The two heatsinks are separate so it's likely to happen to one or the other rather than both.

You could use XTU to see the exact behavior of the chip.

I changed the thermal paste 3 times, one time with DeepCool Z3 and two times with ArticCooling MX4 using different methods. The time worked best was the first time with the DeepCool Z3 ( theoretically worse than MX4 )

Different pastes will act differently depending on pressure and contact area.

It may be one heatsink is damaged and needs replacing.

Speaker was solved with a driver update. USB only had some people, not sure if there ever were people really looking into it, or if there really was an issue at all. Wifi I haven't an issue, but haven't read of any problems in a while, so probably solved. With wifi, there are different laptop configurations, some with Intel and some with (I think) Atheros, it probably only affects one brand.

The heatsink and the two vents has been remplaced, and the problem continues.

The heatsink and two fans Were Replaced and the problem Persists .

Eventually I processed the return .

Now I doubt Whether to repurchase a refresh of G751JY with i7 4720HQ or purchase an MSI GT72 with Broadwell CPU.

    I probably purchase the MSI Gt72 .
After opening 3 times I think that the internal components are of lower quality than the competition ( motherboard , PCB, internal sound card , speakers , connectors, etc . ) .
