    670M = 570M with ~25MHZ higher clock (4%).
    675M = 580M, exactly.

If you don't need Optimus, finding a 570M/580M laptop on sale could be a good idea. Of course, there's also the 660M, which will be somewhere between 560M and 570M performance, and it's 28nm/Kepler. I believe the ASUS ROG series will get that, and the card is due to be launched pretty much any day now.

Yeah. Well here you are right. :D, technologies xD.
I had old crapy desktop since 2004. I'll buy this asus. For me personally it will be.hude improvement and I can't wait.to.get.that. Games are waiting for me since 2007. Hundreds of.them. Co-op with friends, MMO with friends. Awesome singleplayer games.
Movies, tv's in FullHD screen. A little for study, maybe programming or photoshoping, who knows. That's soo much offtopic, cry for.that. But.i can't think about anything else right now. And it's almost there, almost in stock.

ASUS ROG is mainstream, they have the ''pretty'' design and distribute it in wider retail channels, while the serious gaming companies dont, with the notable exception of samsung.

Basically here is what we have right now:

    MSI GT 60/ 80 - 670m, with the 675m incoming, and announced 7970m
    Samsung - 675m with the 7970m announced
Clevo - 675m, with the 680m and 7970m announced, you can buy those in dual cards configs
AW - 675m, 7970m, 680m unannounced but quite possible, you can buy those in dual cards configs.

    Asus - 660m and the 670m

    Yeah asus! gaming hard!

Thanks for the heads up. I was just wondering because i mostly just play my hi-end games on my Desktop. this is my first time i am considering getting a gaming laptop. So also is Optimus just a power saving feature?

Yes Optimus is mainly for power saving, and the dedicated GPU will be switched off when not in use. But it also means that your desktop is not using the dedicated card, which means you'll have the integrated intel GPU processing the assigned programs like internet explorer including the desktop and leave the dedicated GPU to process other applications like the game itself. So surfing on broswers while gaming in windowed mode should not interfere the game, well, GPU wise.

Mostly, yeah. It's a graphics switching solution. It allows you to run graphics (by program) off the iGPU (and Ivy's should be a decent upgrade compared to Sandy), reducing power draw and thereby increasing battery life. Optimus automatically chooses what runs off the iGPU and what runs off the dGPU, according to the profiles in the latest driver, but it does have support for allowing you to force it on either one or the other, IIRC.

It basically allows something to be both portable and a desktop replacement, aside from any concerns about weight or bulk. It's a pretty cool feature, but if you're comfortable with only getting like an hour (maybe an hour and a half) when you're not plugged in, it's not strictly necessary. The previous generation (5xxM) and I think even the one before that (4xxM) had it as well, but the OEMs only supported it on the GT cards (so GT555M was the highest), not on the GTX cards.

Which of the ati 7970m models he mentioned you guys think I can get in a store in Miami Fl? I'm asking because I'll visit US in June and I plan to get one of these babies home with me but can't order online because of certain laws in my country.

I hope there is at least one around the 1500$ price tag when I get there.

just check the resellers thread in the sager/clevo lounge.

If you want a bang for your buck, you are knocking in the wrong forum.

That gpu score for the 7970m is the combined score (physics and gpu score), while the other scores are the total system score (higher), but basically the score for the total system was P6100, its more than 2x the performance of the 570m, its almost twice the performance of the 6990m

Now that you understand go bark in the msi, samsung, clevo or aw three, there is your bang for your buck, specially clevo. You can get a NP9150 from powernotebooks for 1500 with the 7970m.

    Thats why I said :

If you want a BANG for your buck, you are knocking in the wrong forum.

    emphasis added.

well dont fret I can put together a great system for you just under 5k if you are willing to make the BANG, ;)

Take a look at the m18x currently there is only the option for a single 7970m, soon you will be able to put those in crossfire, and thats how a bang is done. Add to that a xm cpu overclock it until you reach 4.5ghz, then you put 2 SSDs in there a samsung pm830 512gb for a 1tb of pure goodness storage. Your budget wont stand that

Yea, 2499 usd would be a mega big waste if it's for a G75... Go with Alienware instead.. Even the M17X with HD7970M is only 1899 usd...

lol i went with asus over aw for quality reasons.
And there is a storefront in my city so quick repairs and upgrades ect. plus its my first gaming laptop, i might put my big boy pants on and step up to alienware an a few years when my G75 is obsolete.

Im terms of quality and stability Asus > AW every day.

I'm using an ASUS laptop and I don't really see the quality and sability you meant :D. Sudden shutdown after GPU is overclocked, easily bricked BIOS update... So far I've been lucky that I haven't had a BIOS brick the past 4 flashes. Well the 7970M in AW is "only" 2 times faster than the 670M in the G75 :D. Later on other manufactorers should have the choice of 7970M as well, but ASUS will never get there. Your choice.

I don`t think you guys should be disappointed with the G75.
After all, Asus have used to feature GTX 460M/5870/560M, they now feature GTX 670M which is much better than what they offered before. So that is a clear step up. And not only that, but they managed to keep the noise at modest level which is great considering you will find a lot of other notebooks with the same hardware with much more noise than that. The screen is also very good according to Notebookcheck. Plus its matte!!

All in all its a great notebook and a good upgrade for G-series owners and people looking for a gaming notebook :)

MSI notebooks have a hate or love design. :p

Amazing laptop, even without optimus, thunderbolt, eSata, or good ports interface(LAN, mouse and power in same side), weird keybord light, and BD thing. Still I defiantly gonna buy this :D

I had pre-ordered a Asus G75 from Amazon a few weeks back, but after reading the review and reading about the upcoming 7970M release it seems a poor choice to purchase for long term use. For $250 more I was able to get the 7970M in a 15 inch model with the same specs as the 17" G75.

Well guys, unless I misread, it seems the newest MSI 17" , the GT-70 has launched with the same GPU as the Asus G75, the GTX 670M. Overall, specs sound pretty much identical to the Asus! What now??? For those of you who were hoping for something better, it seems a disappointment.

Hey guys, I just saw a review of G75 on notebookcheck and it scored 88%. The notebook fans are now accessible though mesh grills are covering it. It would be great if those mesh grills are easily removable, else cleaning it with compressed air would be harder.

EDIT: oops, I didn't see the picture depicting that the mesh grills are indeed removable, cool!
