So now that I'm locked in for the G75-QS71, what can this combo run Crysis 2 on, for 1080p, Ultra and what is the FPS?

I'm glad I found this thread. I was going to buy a g73SW for about 715$ used, but I'd rather wait it out and invest in the newer technology - I also hate buying used electronics heh.

not going to be that playable it will drop below 30fps frequently, the average fps is actually already below 30fps. if you go for high it is playable, and you should be aware that those results are for the 670m model, not the 660m

you can do better at the price point, MUCH BETTER, the 7970m is around 2x 6970m, and a single 6970m is 10-20% more powerful than the 670m, you have to realize that the 670m is the 570m with some higher clocks

About the alienware, Im a pretty smart kid, i asked and showed, and his logic was "if it breaks you'll have to send it to a factory to get it crappily repaired, and 6 months later, a crappy laptop. Plus this is my first gaming PC, so its my trial version, so to speak. And we have an Asus dealer within walking distance to our house, so the speedy and personal service is a plus. :) Lots of time for better laptops. Until I get more AdSense cash. But the insight and opinions are appreciated andymandc - YouTube

I want to say that somewhere I saw that the 7970m could play Skyrim on high at 1920x1200 at 70 fps. Samsung says sometime at the end of this month; but not to sure.

Anandatech specs are not from a review, those are just like... "pics" of whatever AMD told em.
So please, read the reviews instead of just looking at the funny pics.
    Quote from AnandTech
"AMD also presented some data showing their estimate of performance results for HD 7970M vs. GTX 675M, which you can see below, though it appears that information was simulated using desktop hardware (Core i7-2600K). Now we can wait for NVIDIA’s inevitable response with a high-end mobile Kepler."
So the image you posted is something AMD presented showing their estimate of performance results.

We know that 7970 will be faster than 675m, but we don't have a real good comparison just yet, except from the ones with hacked drivers and Alienware laptops.
But, to be honest, that is not a real real test, although give us an estimate.
At the end of the day, 670m performs really well, and its 200USD less than 7970, so it depends if you want to spend, 1000/1500/2000 USD on a laptop, and what are your priorities.

    IE:
I want an SSD, and if i have to get down from 7970m to 675m for it, ill do it, and ill try to keep around 1400 to 1600 USD.
Im really glad mobile GPU is reaching a desktop GPU level... but if you are expending 2000USD on a laptop powerhouse, i believe you should buy a shuttle power PC and get a better computer, for the same money, and you can still move to LANs or whatever you move a 2000USD machine outside the house...
But thats just me, and because i have a limited budget, if you can get a 2000USD laptop, and you also have the money to have a nice desktop, or you prefer to spend 600USD more on a desktop replacement laptop(that to be honest is not that mobile) than equal money desktop with greater performance, you have a special requirement, IE: i travel outside the country a lot for 3 or 4 month, and moving the desktop its not an option.
or, you just are a bit spoiled and you want to spend a lot of money, just cuz you can.
But that is just how i personally see it, and doesnt mean its correct by any means, off course, i believe it is otherwise ill not think that way :p

Im looking forward to see 660m reviews and OC potential, i like the new sager, but ill be more comfortable with an ASUS Laptop or MSI Laptop, just because im shipping to outside US.

    Your opinion is right.
I wouldn't spend about 2200€ (~$2800) for the top G75 (with SSD). I'd seen a offer for the 660 version, which starts at ~1700€ (no SSD). Lol

    @bench
That 7970 is funny, indeed. ^^
Look at the bench tables. NBC High 59fps is at HD-ready! Not FHD.
    Also a 7970m scrores ~5400 in 3DM11 GPUScrore
    A GTX675m gets 3300
    A GTX670m maxes 2800
    (The 6970 in my G73 gets ~3000 and ~3400 overclocked :))

So yeah, the 7970 is little bit faster than the 675. :D
The 7970 (quick tests) outperformed 6990 in Xfire. e.g. Heaven 3.0
But I don't want to say, a 670/675 is bad or so.
With the 670 in the G75 now you get a performance level, which IMHO you should have get past in the G74.
Asus always is bit late on the train.

Next days we will see better results to compare.
    Stay tuned.

My bad, it was not showing on my phone browser, i see it now.
So well... 7970 is crushing Nvidia... good luck with 680m nvidia, or... i spot a bad year for high end GPUs.

Ill edit my message so i dont generate confusion.

    I also love 4x sodimm.
"Mini DisplayPort/Thunderbolt Port (varies by model)

This 20-pin connector is used either as Mini DisplayPort (mDP) or Thunderbolt port, depending on the model. The mDP is a compact version of the DisplayPort digital audio-visual interface that supports visual devices with VGA, DVI, or HDMI. Thunderbolt is based on Mini DisplayPort with PCI Express lanes inlcuded for driving any interconnect such as USB."

I think that the Samsung 7 (NP700G7C-S01CA) is going to be better. It drops in less then a month, has the 7970m, looks about the same, good turbo fans, and a 400 nit superbright 3d screen, 2 HD ports. I would guess it costs about 1900.

    NP700G7C-S01CA - OVERVIEW | SAMSUNG

Does anyone know why Asus G75 would be superior to this? (not trying to flame, I just would like to know every angle before buying)

it could be on price, but the performance difference will be felt.

the problem with the G series right now is that they dont pack that much power for the price asked.

check malibal and xotic, they usually have a lower price.

For example the P170em can be had on malibal

    CPU: i7 2670qm
    GPU: 670m
    HDD: 500gb
    HDD2: none
    RAM: 8gb

    price 1327

Xotic MSI force 1762 its the barebones version of the gt 70

    CPU: i7 2670qm
    GPU: 670m
    HDD: 500gb
    HDD2: none
    RAM: 8gb

    price 1191

The main difference is that on the P170em you can pop a 200 bucks 7970m in there and gain more than 70% performance increase in the gpu department. And yes due to next monday they are going to be shipping with ivy cpus

I wasnt saying that the G series is bad, but it is underpowered by the price, the samsung series 7 is expensive but the things that come with it are in line with the price, you could also wait a bit for the 7970m equipped model, it will be at least 40% performance increase in gpu terms

My wish IF I were to buy a gaming laptop would be:

Here is one config that I like in the p150em:

    Config is from malibal:

    CPU: i7 2670qm
    GPU: 7970m
HDD: none (Im going to get a 512gb crucial m4 for U$585 newegg price)
ODD: none (Im going to use the 120gb SSD that I have here)
    RAM: none I already have 8gb 1600mhz
    Wireless: Intel 6300
    Screen: 95% gamut matte
    Total : 1522 for the system + 585 of the SSD = 2107
