I don't see much a good reason to undervolt the CPU or GPU... I don't see any reason to overclock either, as it can pretty much handle most games thrown at it without any tweaking.

well, undervolting does save you power (longer batt life) and lowers the core temp. of your computer so that the parts aren't as hot as they normally are, fans aren't always on full blast, etc. And i'm thinking of overclocking for future games such as total war empire

Its not a cracked or hacked version as ive been told. Its a version that includes the drivers you need to install it on a Sata hdd. This should not violate any rules? - because you still need your personal win xp key to complete the installation. However i have not checked this my self, i've just put one link to the xpCD on the first page as it was posted earlier in the thread.

    says in readme :

"This is not a unattended XP - you need your product key in order to install XP_Pro w. SP2 (32bit - english)"

I saw the readme but unfortunately that doesn't lighten is it OEM or Retail, as they need a different serial to work.

The iso is compiled from a retail version, product key is NOT included.
I would never share anything "illegal" since I am a system builder and therefore would risk loosing a lot of my income.

    OTHER:

Regarding "overclocking" using rmclock - you actually don't overclock the CPU ; you just bypass the CPU "throthling" - making it run at 100 % no matter which CPU demand. You will not be able to destroy your CPU by using RMclock, overclocking doesn't kill CPU's - high overvolting and extreme cooling do kill CPU's....
Using RMclock to achieve full CPU speed when on batteries is something I will classify as stupidity :)

Overclocking - and off course, far worse : overvolting - the GFX might be a total different case if you as me has opened G1S... the GFX cooling is a laugh - the nortbridge cooling likewise, Asus did a ****ty job with the cooling of these two.
I have never seen NVIDIA GFX's die of anything else than overvolting combined with lousy cooling - so I would not recommend to increase G1S's GFX /memory voltage very much.
There are ways to increase the GFX cooling quite a lot by removing the thick heat pads and replace them with copper or aluminum shims together with a good paste, this is definitely not a job for the faint harted on G1S.

    4GB ? read this @ http://mywebpages.comcast.net/SupportCD/XPMyths.html (don't buy all statements on this site ;) )

Faster ram might automatically give tighter timings - autosensed by bios - thus better performance

Regarding boot.ini switches - some "precompiled" @ http://www.ocshoot.no/binaries/boot.ini/ - and even more on the meaning of these switches @ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/833721

Good luck with XP on G1S - it's like turbocharging !!!!!

Um.. wtf I've undervolted my G1s using RMClock to 1.112 V on idle and on Performance mode with all the necessary options checked as indicated in this thread. However, when I'm running the CPU stress test in Orthos the temp of the CPU still reaches 75, and my GPU temp has stayed constant at 81 no matter what. It almost seems like I haven't done anything yet even though RMClock is saying I've undervolted the processor? Is there anything I'm doing wrong?

Also, my comp is currently set on the RMClock Power settings... should it be the Power for Gear Battery Saver or another one of those options? My CPU also idles around 61.

I have no clue why the .iso have "disappeared" - might be that someone in my organisation belived it was "warez" and deleted it :)
Anyway - I won't be able to upload it again before 3 november since I am abroad atm.

I did compile a new .iso ; XP MediaCenter with all updates and drivers included + a lot of other goodies from Microsoft.
I guess that it should be no problem to use this instead of a "ordinary" XP - but to be absolutely sure I will ask my contact in Microsoft about this.
I guess you guys know that if you don't have a valid MediaCenter productkey - but have a valid XP product key - you will end up with XP without MediaCenter installing this.

I use this rls myself now ; everything works - even hibernating :)

Well I'm not quite certain if this is the right place to ask it (hell even if it's the right forum), but I was wondering what is considered the best laptop cooler for the G1S (by that I mean which provides the best cooling, most comfortable to use)?

Any help with this matter would be great!

Here is a local thread with some discussion regarding your question. Personally, I'm also interested in purchasing a cooler for my G1s..but never really proactively looked into buying one.

    Hi everyone,

Does the introduction of BIOS v.205 change the way we install XP? I'm rather fed up with Vista, and I would imagine the new BIOS might make things easier???

Also, does anybody know if the new BIOS has dealt with the 50% cpu cuttage that occurs when the battery is charging? I have the new BIOS and I *think* I still have the battery/cpu problem, but I refuse to believe it!

I managed to install XP with 204 bios without any problems, bios 205 give you a opportunity to choose a new setting in bios to avoid "running into bluescreen when installing XP" whatever that means....

Surely it won't hurt to flash to 205 bios...

I am impressed that so many take responibility and host the driver pack !

Here is my contribution @ http://www.ocshoot.no/binaries/AsusG1S/

Confirmed that the iso works flawlessly (yes I did do a fresh install to be sure) - you will find a folder "Drivers" in this iso ; it's the full driverpack.

You can also grab the driverpack from here @ http://www.ocshoot.no/binaries/AsusG1S/Asus_G1S_XP-Driverpack.zip

There is as mentioned before a lot of tweaks and extras for XP to be found @ http://www.ocshoot.no/binaries/

If it is something else I might help you guys with ; I can be found at ocshoot.no - efnet (OcS|Main)

    README:

This is not a unattended XP - you need your product key in order to install XP_Pro or MediaCenter w. SP2 (32bit - english)

After installation install drivers in this order:

    *CHIPSET
    **ACPI CONTROL
    ***VIDEO

    AUDIO
WIRELESS DRIVER + WIRELESS CONSOLE (Wireless Console is found in the Asus_Utilities map)
    ****BLUETOOTH

*INSTALL FIRST - THEN REBOOT !
    ** INSTALL AFTER CHIPSET INSTALL/REBOOT
*** INSTALL AFTER ACPI CONTROLL INSTALL/REBOOT
**** INSTALL AFTER WIRELESS CONSOLE (CONSOLE DEPENDANT)

The rest of the drivers (found in the Drivers map) can be installed in any order you like :)
After everything is installed visit Microsoft Update and also update DirectX to the latest version ( http://download.microsoft.com/downl...-8ff3-de9100d98a5d/directx_aug2007_redist.exe )

Trengs oppdatering igjen fra deg igjen Irathi :) ------------ Gratulerer med gullet !

Syns du nevnte at du var fra Bergen ? :D

EDIT: Frontbuttons works when using MediaCenter and MediaPlayer..... E-Sata works (ThermalTake Muse E-Sata) and so does HDMI (tested on a LG 32LX2R)

Oddly enough MediaCenter did stop work after I grabbed all updates ; did a reinstall again and now MediaCenter works even after I grabbed all the updates again....
LightScribe seems to be supported (haven't tested this) with Nero8 CoverDesigner ; but the result using printable dvd's/cd's and SureThing CD/DVD Labeler is a LOT better @ http://www.surething.com/ST/
Anyway - you can grab the LightScribe System Software @ http://lightscribe.com/downloadsection/Windows/index.aspx?id=810
Overclocking (overbussing) is now also supported using latest SetFSB { ICS9LPR363DGLF } @ http://www13.plala.or.jp/setfsb/
