Where do you get the drivers for the usb Mouse?
-
just from razers website, but the 'gaming mouse' that comes with the laptop has a driver of it's own, which if not installed, causes the same jumpy problem.
it's on the download page for the g73 btw.

If reinstalling the ATI drivers is fixing this... LOL I bet it's the damn CCC Hotkey filter application that's being naughty.
-
No joy with removing and reinstalling ATI drivers along with tp drivers. Siorah's issue was likely related to the Razer messing with cursor input. I'm not really sure. All I know is that my touchpad is unusable but my keyboard is perfect.

I am still losing key strokes on the new Beta Bios 3, it is still random when they start and nothing I do will make the lower case letters come back. I am able to use the Caps of the same key though.
Has anyone else here seen this? I have found a few on other forums that are having the same thing happen to them but I do not remember reading about it here.
The last Bios did help this quite a lot and it only happened once that I can think of, but this one made it worse, and it has added an other key that will come up missing while missing . -
I am beginning to think that any changes we do to fix the touchpad seem to work at first just because the machine has been rebooted. After a while it always seems to revert back to the way it was. On another thread someone posted that their fix when it becomes unresponsive is to push the right button down, I have tried this a few times now and it seems to work... for a while.
-
I don't know if I had any issues with the touchpad because I disabled it to fix the keyboard issues but I have made it a point to use it now that I have the Beta3 BIOS installed and both are working just fine!
I'm so pleased that this is working.
Between needing the VBIOS update in order to use the latest ATI drivers, the horrible cackling from the sound driver issues, and the keyboard problems, I was just about fed up with this stupid machine. Luckily, all of these issues have been dealt with and now I can enjoy this expensive toy. -

I guess I have mine straightened out for now. I did the following:
1. Remove ATI driver 10.12
2. Remove Synaptics 15.0.11.0
3. Boot in safe mode and clean Synaptics from registry with ccleaner
4. Reinstall both drivers
Result was no change. You could touch the pad and the cursor would jump two inches to the right.
Next:
1. Remove Synaptics 15.0.11.0
2. Reboot in safe mode and clean registry
3. Reboot and install 15.1.22.2 that is in Chastity's driver guide
Result is the same. Jumpy unusable cursor.
Next:
1. Remove Synaptics 15.1.22.2
2. Revert to bios 211 (Original)
3. Install Synaptics 15.0.11.0 which is the one Gary listed in the OP
Result... Jumpy mouse that is unusable.
Next:
1. Remove 15.0.11.0
2. Reboot in safe mode and clean registry.
3. Install 15.1.9 which was a driver I was using pretty much all along until the beta bios showed up.
Result is perfectly working touchpad but now I'm on the old bios with keystroke issue.
I flashed back to the beta bios 3 and left 15.1.9 installed and everything seems to be working perfectly. Now I'm going to stop messing with it before I completely screw it up again. -
I was getting horrible cackle whenever I would attach or disconnect my Bose companion speakers or my HDMI monitor with speakers. After doing a clean install and not installing the Creative stuff I no longer have that issue.
I may not have the subwoofer controls anymore - I haven't bothered to check - but I mostly use my companion speakers so I don't really care. -

I see. I don't have any high-end speakers as of now, so I'm hoping this subwoofer problem is software-related and not hardware so that there's still hope that it would be fixed later on

Jody - I am on the 15.1.9 driver as well, I have found it to be the best. I think you will find at times the touchpad will still get slightly unresponsive though. The wigging out will be minimal, at least it is on mine. It will start with a missed tap and then progress to kind of a lazy response to finger movement. When it gets like that I give the right button a press.

Well, after 2 days of trying Beta3, I have to say it seems to have fixed the keyboard issues we were having.
It works regardless of 4-5 sleep/wakeup cycles, plenty of remote desktop sessions (which would cause the previous BIOSes to drop keystrokes again) and tons of typing we needed to get caught up on.
But, besides the fact that the keyboard works great now, the touchpad is still fubar. It will go unresponsive at times, and when it does the pressure graph accessory still shows input and pressure, so no idea what is going on there. I will say that the jumping around it used to do doesn't happen as much (usually only when I have the left-button down and scrolling will it start jumping to the right), but overall it is still broken as when it stops responding it is no better than if it was jumping all around.
If there is a Beta4 to work on the touchpad next, or a new fix from Synaptics I would love to try it.
The laptop is much more useable with a fixed keyboard, but complete nirvana can't be achieved until the touchpad works as it should...
Also, if you will notice there is no missed characters in this post... Machine has been up for 2 days, and I can say the keyboard finally works great. Also proof that missed characters are not because people aren't pressing hard enough as I am flying through typing this with a light touch and it is getting every keypress. -
Mine on occasion fails completely especially after typing, even if it has been disabled with the Fn + F9 key. It is almost like typing has a cumulative effect on the touchpad.
-
Maybe the keyboard problems are not linked to the TP problems, and should be treated as separate problems. I never had keyboard problems. I just have serious touchpad problems. Maybe they should be treated independently? Because from what i have seen most people here with KB problems dont have the same problems that the Touch Pad people do with the TouchPad.

Update-
We will have another BIOS update tonight, this one fixed the last remaining problems found at Synaptics and AMD after the last beta release. -
Release bios 3 and the latest touchpad driver 15.1.22 (thanks Chastity) are working on large ... my touch is no longer crazy. Waiting for the release 4. We are at the end of the tunnel?.... Thanks Gary and communities G73

Unless they introduce a dead zone around the touchpad, i am sure a new BIOS will do nothing for me either... -

The only thing I'm sure with is after I've flashed my bios to 211 from 206, my touchpad has been acting weird (becoming a four directional arrow then zooms-in or zooms-out).
For sure, the bios 211 has done something in relation with the touchpad problem. -
-
-
The keyboard seems to have stopped dropping keystrokes, but the Touchpad went more wacky with Beta 3 than it did with 211/Beta 1/Beta 2

Like I said, maybe yours is damaged. But maybe not. Try it without synaptic drivers. -
Let's hope beta four clears up all the issues with the touchpad. -
I will give it a go without synaptic drivers, and hope for the best. -
-
I think the palm rest sensor is for when something larger than a finger (like a palm) actually touches the pad itself. I doubt if sensing capacitance around the touchpad is normal behavior. Maybe he's super charged or something, be careful when you touch metal.
-
I'm not sure if Divine_madcat is running the beta bios. When I run beta 3, my touchpad behaves the same way for some reason. The touchpad gets paralyzed because it thinks I'm trying to two finger scroll all the time. Running driver 15.1.9 helps with this some.
I'm just hanging out for beta 4 which will solve all of my problems. My laptop will run perfectly and I will be rich, famous, and handsome. -

Where is the promised updated BIOS for tonight?

I would like to report that I have been problem free(touchpad) for the last 8 days. I have extensively used the touchpad
-

and I'm just using a single finger without my palms or other finger touching the palmrest.

I'm sure it will get here eventually. I don't mind waiting, as long as they are perfecting it. It makes me very nervous each time I flash the bios, if it takes a few more hours to get it right it is worth it. I am hoping for one more flash to beta 4 and then a final flash to a production release.

I flashed my vBIOS like 6 times today

01/07/11 Update - Please download and use this file for the missing keystroke problem - https://www.yousendit.com/download/RlRyZm1ha0RvQnRjR0E9PQ -
(use the DOS or Win7 method with the latest utilities on our website and on AC power only)
This BIOS should fix remaining problems, based on latest test reports. Please updated to the latest ATK, AMD Catalyst, and Touchpad drivers. Please use the system and if the missing keystrokes problem is still present please follow the instructions in the Synaptics diagnostic PDF and send the output file to me at [email protected]-(remove the hypens). We will then contact you for additional information or service.
Sorry about the slight delay but CES has been much busier than expected. -
