thanks but the driver didn't help

Can you or somebody run dpc latency checker while gaming? this might be just a typical g73 thing

my max spike is about 1000us, and I've also reported that I do not microstutter.

Out of curiosity, what AV software do you use, and have you tried disabling that?

So what seems to be the most successful Bios/vbios combination? I currently have 211, with stock vbios and cat 10.7a. Will getting Gary's v93 improve things? My gaming is OK, but Im always looking for smoother gameplay. In MW2 im getting around 80fps with a studder here and there.

Ok, i uninstalled AVG, no luck

Just noticed that I got red bars while playing with my wireless thingy in the taskbar. look at the picture, everytime i move my mouse pointer to a network, 3 or 4 red bars appear. So wireless must be the problem, tried stock microsoft driver and newest artheros driver from the asus support site, no luck.

However, when i disable my wireless card in the bios, i still got red bar while gaming. so there might be more than a culprit in my situtation. I disabled everything i can in the bios, so must related to stuffs that i can't disable, e.g. chipset, hdd, cpu, vga

Please look at my Sharing/conflcit and IRQ and compare to yours, is anything different?

Anyone please check my sharing/conflict and IRQ, are they the same as yours?

211/v93/10.7a is the best combination for me. Others had reports shuttering/instability with 10.8. For others 10.8 is OK. Just depend what are you playing.

Also, i have not experienced any "GSOD" so far. so would the vbios update be beneficial? In my google searches, I only see recommendations to update the vbios if someone is having gsod issues

Then you never googled any of my replies stating that the vBIOS updates is recommended for everyone, even if you don't currently GSOD, because, in time, you will.

    Dear friends,

I finally found the culprit that has been causing stuttering on my g73 recently. That is the useless SPTD driver that deamon tool installed on my window, just got rid of that and everything is flawless now.

At least, I'm happy to know that 211 and new vbios don't cause stuttering on my g73. Thank you all for all the supports you guys have given me recently! :D

Just curious if you ran the DPC Latency Checker after ridding the SPTD driver and see if the Latency Checker did in fact look clean after. I was just curious if the DPC latency checker is a valid worthwhile tool for helping track down microstutter related drivers. Did your graph look pretty green after removing the offending driver?

    Thanks Chastity :)

Besides, this also explains why the fresh install of window didn't help since i had to installed deamon tool at the start to be able to use the asus dvd driver iso :D

    @bossman-x,
After removing that SPTD driver, I haven't got any red bar in the latency test so i think Latency Checker does a great job.

1.74 does alleviate some spikes I got too, so it's worth an update if you wish to still use DTools. My highest latency is 352us, compared to the occasional 1100us.

Nothing wrong with WinAmp. The GUI and layout is certainly outdated. But all the plugins for ASIO, WASAPI still work and the codecs are up to date. Sound wise, WinAmp still destroys iTunes.

Personally I like Foobar2000, but IMO Foobar, WinAmp, MediaMonkey, can't go wrong with any of those three.

I don't allow any Apple software on my G73 (except QT for some old games that still make calls to it).

I ran the DPC latency checker and i noticed that the only device causing me latency is the Atheros Wireless Adapter. When enabled the latency jumps up to 4000ms at times. When i disable the wireless card it doesn't exceed 500ms.

Can you guys tell me witch driver version you are using for the Atheros?

    Thx

nah, you need to manually remove it, download the lastest stpd driver and click on it. It will notice that you got the older version of STPD and ask you if you want to remove it. That how i did it, don't know about the other ways :)

Should the dpc latency checker register constant high latency if something is wrong? If it is high when I'm not on the web? Or doesn't it matter? Because I experience lag when I watch live HD broadcasts, but not when when I'm "offline". Maybe it has something to do with SilverLight, which is used by the broadcaster? Just throwing it out there...

I'm also wondering which vBios the people with high latency are using, Chastity's or Gary's. I'm using Chastity's myself.

i still get around 4000 us somtimes, I think it might be related to the artheros wireless card. I'm using the lastest driver from the asus support site.

However, it doesn't bother me much since it doesn' cause any stutterting in games.

What bios were you on and CCC driver when you were running SC2 flawlessly? I am currently having the same problem with 211, Gary's vBIOS, and 10.8 as well. At first I thought it was the laptop itself, and got a little upset knowing that this lappy is i7 with the 5870... then kept on reading, and we're not the only one's with this problem....

I've never had Ultra work flawlessly but SC2 is perfect on high. BIOS 211 Gary's vBIOS & ATI 10.8 drivers. Clock fixed at 700/1000.
